Who cares if some of the photos have wrong decade, I appreciate the effort, and it brought back some great memories. I moved to LA in 1971 to go to college. For the next 30 years I worked and lived in LA. I still say 70's were my favorite decade.
I grew up in Southern California and have lived or worked in almost every coastal town from San Diego to Santa Cruz. Watching this video brought tears to my eyes. I’m deeply saddened by how ideology has devastated the state, which used to be so beautiful. 😢
GREAT PHOTOS ! The late '60s through the early '80s was my time . I was actually at the BROWN DERBY (BOTH OF THEM). The xmas decorations on Hollywood Blvd. used to really be something. I roller skated at "Flippers" on La Cienega and weekends in Venice with my friends too ! All of these great malls are gone now. What a shame. Such great memories ! Thanks !"✌️👍💙
Yep. Just look at the sidewalks these people were walking on. I didn't see a single homeless encampment. Not a single drugged-up "zombie" walking along Broadway, Hill,..... streets. Everywhere they went in DWTN LA, it was safe. You go to DWTN LA right now, it's like going to Mexico City where there are safer areas and there are areas to avoid because of higher rates of serious crime.
I was stationed in Long Beach in 1976 and would hang out in L.A. on the weekends, seeing rock or jazz shows on the Strip at the Whisky or the Roxy, shows at the Santa Monica Civic Center, Angels Stadium, the Palladium in Hollywood, etc. Even then, L.A. was on the downward slide, but at least I got to see it when it was WAY... better than it was when I moved back from the Midwest in '89 for 25 more years. Left in utter disgust in 2015. Taxes, illegal aliens, traffic congestion, graffiti, dangerous crime, gangbangers, homeless bums, druggies, mental cases, etc. Seeing these photos is like a beautiful dream of when L.A./San Francisco weren't yet turned into a dump.
Nostalgia for the past can be strong, especially when you see how a city has changed over time. It is important to preserve and pass on the historical significance of Los Angeles for future generations.
Helms Bakery! We had those exact same Helms Bakery trucks in San Diego too! They operated out of the big covered drive-thru building at the intersection of Fairmount Ave. and the I-8 East off-ramp (actually would have been US-80 at that time, when the building was first built in the early 50's). The building became a Penske truck rental building for many years - I don't know what the building is now - but it's still there.
Nope, this picture is during Covid. There is a Citibank in the picture. Bank deregulation didn't start till some time in the 80s. I belive, Citibank did not originate in California. It came to California in the 80' or 90s.
I thought the music was great The Melody Room on Sunset later became The Viper Room And this is where River Phoenix Died this was altogether very enjoyable
your picture of Hermosa beach is NOT 1970!!! there is a couple of old cars in the shot, and a couple of modern cars in the photo. That Intersection in front of the Hermosa Pier was just redone to look like that less than 10 years ago.
Those were some of the best years to be alive!!!!!!

Exactly!!! Don't know why people have to be so anal about minor detail! Just sit back relax and enjoy the great videos for free!

... All areas and products bring back to the good old days ... Some remain, Some have gone ...
The sweet smell of helms Bakery truck that was it!
Most of these photos are labeled with the WRONG DECADE! Come on people, do some research!
Yeah I mean the very first shot is no way 1970!

It's really a shame that so many of those great places and shopping centers no longer exist.
OK, so some of the photo captions are clearly off by a decade or more, but I love the photos AND the music mix.
I'm 60 years old and these times were so much easier and fun
It is important to keep warm memories of those times. They can bring joy and inspiration in our modern times.

Lots of wrong guesses at the years here, and even the decades, but still nice to see, I'm old as the hills, so I know, lol.

LA and it’s metro has been on the downswing since 1965. That’s true for most major American cities that were major before 1965.

Thanks for your story! Your memories bring warmth and joy.
2:08 the extra brake lights on those newer cars and social distancing sign says this is not 1970...
Pretty sure there was no social distancing in the 70’s 😂😂😂
2:10Was social distancing a thing in the 1970s?
In the 1970s, social distancing was not as widespread as it is today.
There was no social distancing way back then.
Use to “cruise “ the Sunset Strip

Yes, some moments of the past may seem unique. But it is important to remember that every era has its bright sides.

Thanks for your comment! It's really important to clarify that the photo is not from 1970.
The sign saying "social distancing required" is the dead give away
How can you NOT know that the photo at 2:52 is from the 1950'S! lol
That first photo is definitely not from 1970, LOL

See how polluted the air was then?
It is important to protect the environment and fight for clean air.

get rid of the music and hire a narrator to explain each scene .
I understand your point of view! A narrative approach can provide a deeper understanding of each scene and enhance the experience of the content.
Keep it like it is, come on people, enjoy and use yor imagination.
It's all false, use some education. None of the years are correct !
There are some of the photos the DATES ARE WAY OFF.
One said 1970, all the cars were late '40s to early 50's.
MORE THAN 1 PHOTO , WAY WAY OFF
1:12 they dont make women this beautiful any more. 🥲
Beauty is a subjective concept, and every era has its own standards.
