    Seeing the pictures and dates you couldn't tell the U.S was at war. In 1942 it was dark times for the U.S. In the Pacific with Japan on a rampage, the U Boat war in the Atlantic and Hitlers war in Europe. I thank God I'm an American and the for sacrifices made by the greatest generation. This shows how Americans had strength and optimism during the war.

    L.A./California in those days was still "Nebraska with palm trees." It was a conservative red state. The liberals/progressives do what they aways do. Take over what better people than themselves have created and turn it into rubble. At least we have our memories and old videos.

    I left LA for good in 1978, but kept the two big block Oldsmobiles! I had other things to do with my life. No regrets, no place anywhere is the same as it was back in the day. We grow.

    I was lucky to have an extended holiday in Los Angeles in 1979 when I was 7 years old. I am from the UK and long trips like that were a rarity and we could only afford it because of my dad's gratuity from leaving the Royal Navy. I love Los Angeles and have always been fascinated by it. We stayed for 4 weeks at the Hotel Roosevelt on Hollywood Boulevard.

    Last chance to buy a house in LA at a somewhat reasonable price. The best time, however, to have lived in LA was the 1950s and the 1960s. Very affordable and not overcrowded.

    You don’t need to colorize photos from the 60s. I used color film then- Kodachrome (for slides) and Kodacolor (for prints). Other companies made color film as well. Very common.
