Comparing with the video on plurality, it seems te and nga are not always present and may serve other function (like definiteness?)

he tika tāu - you're absolutely correct! "Te" and "ngā" are not used alongside "He" which is indefinite. "Ko" is definite and will be followed by "te", "ngā", a pronoun or a proper noun. "He wahine" - a woman "ko te wahine" - the woman "he wāhine" - women "ko ngā wāhine" - the women "he tama ia" - he's a boy "ko te tama ia" - he's the boy hope this helps :)
He ataata ngahau ! :-)
Kia Ora.
If I wanted to ask "what's the price" in maori, would I say "he aha utu", or "he utu"?
Kia ora e hoa, you would say "he aha te utu" for what is the price
