I have had the fortune of working for Mr. Rucker many times, in fact I probably have a whole drawer full of his/his band's Crew shirts representing a fraction of those times. He is the best famous person I have met. He is incredibly humble, down to earth, respectful of others' efforts, and has no persona of being above the people who work for him, no matter how far down the totem pole of workers he meets. I have worked for thousands of famous people over my decades-long career, and have seen the best and the worst types of famous people there are, and there are very few who are like Mr. Rucker. A solid good human.
Hootie is a great band. This was from their Breakout Album in 1994. Darius Rucker is a true singing talent. If you want something as great as this look up and react to "Queen, Live Aid, 1985 Full show its 21.14 minutes long." Queen is a great Band. Those 21 minutes at Live Aid in 1985 is considered the best 21 minutes in Rock History. No light show, pyrotechnics or alterations. Just four great men (With Freddie Mercury leading) showing their vocal and instrumental talents. Also, If you want another great performer to look into, I recommend "Barry Manilow". If you want to start with him, I recommend "Could It Be Magic" a great song from his initial 1973 album, "Manilow 1". Great reaction Mia!
Yup, you got it. That’s Darius. ✅ These guys were popular when I was in high school. They were really mainstream so I pretty much ignored them. The preppie kids were jamming their songs, and I had green hair. So, well, you know. All these years later I’ve realized they were better than I knew, and his voice was stronger than I realized. Gotta give ‘em credit. But this topic of addiction, suffered by artists or a loved one, was more common at the time. The ‘90s definitely had its share of drug issues. I remember. Not that every decade doesn’t have its ugly addictions. But you’d find a hell of a lot of drug songs from that era. Even Hootie got in on it, and wrote this. P.S. As a Black artist, Darius has dealt with skepticism from the industry when he’s done rock and country. But in time he proved himself with hit songs. 🎤🎸
I remember walking into a music shop back in the mid 90's just looking for a few new albums that were being released, a song started playing over their sound system that caught my attention so I went to the counter and asked the young girl what song was playing, she stated that it was Hold My Hand by Hootie & the Blowfish, I walked out of the shop with the albums that I went in for plus one extra which was Hootie & The Blowfish - Cracked Rear View, of which I still have in my collection today a near 30 years later,
Love that whole "Cracked Rear View" album. Sadly, none of their other albums touched this one, but every song on this album is amazing and Darius Rucker is one of my favorite vocalists of all time, especially for non metal. His voice so distinct that one note and you know it's him, and there's no one like him. Being born in 86 and growing up in the 90s I remember growing up watching this album blow up when coming out, and even saw them live on tour for it when I was just a kid. It's also one of the highest selling albums of all time. It was in the top 10 (not sure if it still is) selling over 22 million albums. Great song. This song was the first song Darius ever wrote. He still plays it even when he performs solo. "Hold My Hand" is another classic Hootie song from this album.
Hootie and the Blowfish had a string of hits. Kind of poppy, but always felt more authentic than a lot of pop acts. Darius Rucker's got such a comfortable voice, sounds like somebody you'd hang out with! Do a reaction to "Wagon Wheel", that'd be fun! For more of his early stuff, check out "Time" and "Only Wanna Be With You".
Awesome reaction when you finally figured out who the singer was. 😅 This band had some good songs and yes, his voice is amazing. Obviously because he can sing many different genres if he so chooses.
Hootie and the Blowfish had very catchy sounding sounds that crossed over to people like me who didn’t really listen to rock music but liked Hootie and the Blowfish or at least some of their songs, also loving the outfit MIA 👍🏽
Very nice, the voice is beautiful and the band underneath is quite good! I like it! About the accent, most of it comes from the people you grow with. You can be whoever, but most of your voice if not all will come from the People you grow with and how your voice sounds. There are some differences in average, maybe tonality or other things, but you probably can't tell based only on these. (About this last sentence I'm not entirely sure)
Darius Rucker is the man. Love his music. My first experience with his music was when my nephew covered Wagon Wheel. I had never heard it before but I used to listen to my nephew sing it over and over on his first release CD. It was years later that I found out that it was an original by Hootie and the Blowfish. aka, Darius Rucker.
Side note, love hate love by Alice In Chains is a love song that you Would like, it’s pretty hard. One of Layne’s best. It’s gotta be live at the Moore
Darius is awesome. I regret I missed the band getting back together and touring this summer. Others to check out: Hold My Hand, Only want to Be With You, Old Man & ME
Hi Mia.. great selection ..great reaction..love this song..play this a lot on guitar when me and the guys head out to the beach and have a bonfire along with other favorites .. I have a suggestion please if you can do “ Cult Of Personality “ by Living Color…your gonna be really suprised with this band…you may like it another fantastic 80’s band very underrated..and the Vocalists Corey Glover still has that voice..ok have a great night..🙏 PS don’t worry Mia that didnt come off wrong we got what you meant.. there was a singer people thought he was African American and turned out to be white.. everyone was floored..😂😂 he had a great voice.
Mia have you heard of the band called Sugar Ray from the 90's and TLC. Ohhhh on the TLC tip is one of my favorite albums of all time it came out in 1992 i have so many bands that i can request you I'm a walking book of knowledge when it comes to music 😁👍
They have a few really great ones, might try Hold My Hand. it rocks a bit harder but they never really get to a hard rock level. Just great vocals and music! Great reaction, again!
Hottie and the blowfish started in 1986 in the Columbia, South Carolina. They hit it big with the album "Cracked rear view" with songs like this and Hold my hand & I only want to be with you and I go blind. You should check them out too.Hootie(Darius Rucker) went solo with his country album with the remake song "Wagon wheel" that turned into a huge country hit with the people of the reality show "Duck Dynasty" in the video that was released. I know that you are not really a country music lover but I do suggest that you watch the video and decide for yourself. When are you going to do anything from the band "The EAGLES "? They have an incredibly deep catalog of hits from as far back as the 70's.
Hello Mia my love ❤ I don’t think you came off offensive, being honest is refreshing to me!! I absolutely loved your reaction to figuring out it was Darius Rucker!!! You are so adorable 🥰 Daily LED ZEPPELIN recommendation, The Ocean or Dazed and Confused but honestly anything they sang was amazing 😊
Great reaction, Mia. Unfortunately, this is the edited version. The original studio version is a full minute longer, guitar solo is cut from this one. The original runtime is 5:19.
I heard this album almost got scrapped completely. The record label thought it would flop because it wasn’t grunge enough. But the producer was able to convince the record label to release this album.
Mia, I 100% agree with other commenters here. You have to check out Electric Callboy. They are a mix of metal, electronic/dance. Its known as "partycore" or "elecrocore" style metal. They are fantastic and entertaining as hell because they dont take themselves too seriously. Id suggest starting with Hypa Hypa or We Got The Moves but since you are a gym girl, I think their song Pump It would be perfect. You will LOVE the video (and song)!
How about Every Breath You Take by The Police, if you haven’t already heard it? It has 1.3 billion views, and 123k comments. It’s my favorite song of all time
I'm kind of weird and I may have suggested this but in your own time listen to the crash test dummies. Mmm mmm mmm mmm. Makes ya think of blind melon no rain I think is the name. Great reaction to Darius and Hootie and the blowfish. XO
I'm from Minnesota. More Prince. His version of "Motherless Child" is pretty good, as is "Let's Go Crazy". If you liked "Kiss" than you might also enjoy "Raspberry Beret", "Little Red Corvette", and "I Wanna Be Your Lover". Nice reaction. They've all been good. More Prince.
Okay being you brought it up about distinctive voices and knowing when you can tell who's singing you should check out Cult of personality buy In Living Color
Any1 recommend me some covers that are mind blowing, I'm talking as good if not better than originals? Example would be "Love Song" by Jack Off Jill. One of the best covers I've ever heard. Look forward to seeing your suggestions!

Nice reaction. First time I saw them was 1992 at Mars Hill College. Tickets were $5.
One of my favorite Hootie and the Blowfish songs
He has the ultimate campfire voice, that is not an insult!

I remember listening to this and Blues Traveler back in the 90’s. So many indie, folk rock, and alternative back then.
Hey Mia, you're keeping it real, and I appreciate that. This is probably my favorite Hootie and the Blowfish songs. And, yeah, Darius is phenomenal!
Darius Rucker lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish. Great music!!

I consider this more blues/rock
Awesome reaction when you finally figured out who the singer was. 😅 This band had some good songs and yes, his voice is amazing. Obviously because he can sing many different genres if he so chooses.
Skid Row - Wasted Time, vocals are unmatched
You lost the train, but you have now the Change to jump on it, don't miss it
Electric Callboy - We got the moves
Last Change, go for it !
Hootie and the Blowfish had very catchy sounding sounds that crossed over to people like me who didn’t really listen to rock music but liked Hootie and the Blowfish or at least some of their songs, also loving the outfit MIA 👍🏽
You would like hold my hand and only wanna be with you
If you want it, wish for it, the love you hope for will find you. You're amazing. You deserve it. 😊
Darius Rucker is a country music singer now but he still re-unites with Hootie here and there for an album and a tour.
The first time I did karaoke, I did this song and a drunk girl proposed to me. I guess I did pretty well. 😉
Lajon Witherspoon from "Sevendust" Denial, Waffle, Black. I think you would like "Denial" it is a banger
An all time voice, great song and Darius is always worth a listen.
Very nice, the voice is beautiful and the band underneath is quite good!
I like it!

Some of the group The Righteous Brothers (blued eyed soul) will defy your expectations for sure, as far as vocals. But in a truly amazing way!!
The content of the song is whats amazing. Darius' voice has always been amazing. Its about addiction.
Side note, love hate love by Alice In Chains is a love song that you Would like, it’s pretty hard. One of Layne’s best. It’s gotta be live at the Moore
