  • In this video, Products Guy Ian and Corbin the Formal Ninja debate the merits of different tonfa grips and highlight the merits of different tonfa materials. Which is your favorite?
Corbin favors the gyakute grip with the shaft sticking out. Ian prefers the honte grip that provides defense. The two RUclips personalities also discuss the features of wood, plastic, and metal tonfa. The metal tonfa are made by KarateMart right here in our ninja forges out of solid aluminum. Each one weighs 2lbs 13oz and is solid!
You can even get your own tonfa here:

I just bought the aluminium ones. Tonfa ,whether using one ,or two is an incredibly effective weapon both for offense and defense. I was told tonfa , tuifa, or guai came from the handles of farming implements. Either way, my new tonfa will be passed down to my posterity for generations who will study my family's art of sutomu burei do. I can't wait till they're delivered.

There are Kata (And combat applicaitons) where you DO hold these weapons by the end, using the handle as a striking surface... I can appreciate that these two are simply showing the weapons, but they also limiting the viewer in the proper use of same.

I completely agree, William! This is one of our old videos and neither of them were martial artists. In all of our videos from the last two years, Kyle has been showing off the weapons and he’s been a martial artist his entire life. So, if you get a chance, check out some of our newer videos. Thanks so much for watching! I really appreciate it!

@@Karatemart I have been checking out the other videos and considering purchasing a few things. As a consumer and someone who has had training, it may be useful for you to not use this video and swap it with something that better reflects the values that KarateMart holds to: One showing the proper use and application of the training tools and weapons being offered. This will do more to inspire a person to aquire the proper tools to move forward along their martial arts/training journey. Please do not assume I am being overly critical or a snot bag - I am not. Martial arts require didication and integrity - It requires a serious mindset with the intent of improving yourself and encouraging others to do the same by your actions in how you live your life. I sincerly respect and appreciate that KarateMart fills a very real need in helping others to be more than they are now, and inspirering an understanding of what they can be if they apply themselves to that end.

After a week of training fairly consistently with my aluminum tonfa...my forearms are much more conditioned to take a hit...if you love the tonfa, you would be foolish not to get these...they have taken the Okinawan form, and augmented it with aluminum....these tonfa are literally power personified when in trained hands.

You guys make three aluminum tonfa, I'm interested in.
    The solid aluminum.
The high-strength aluminum one. (this appears to be the basis for the spiked on, and is probably hollow)
The spiked aluminum one (which looks like the high-strength but with pointy cap ends and is hollow inside).
Why not review those as a group?

I purchased some rubber tips to put on the gyakute and honte ends of the aluminum tonfa....they make it easy to do tonfa push ups without scarring my precious weapon....however, the rubber tips really hurt the okinawan aesthetic & appeal....now they look like silly crutch canes that are too short.... however, there is no better tonfa for push ups... I'm 6'3" 250lbs and they handle my weight without issue.... other tonfa have broken under such weight.
