we have a common saying in my area, if one is not capable of walking up till Kedarnath then they should be at home or else take helicopter ride, but dont take the animals route, as its abusive for them . kinda like slaves and some people weight is over 100 kgs that must be so hard

No actually most of these horse riders or whatever you wanna call are not Hindus they are mostly I think muslims bec in Jammu also when I went for mata darshan most of them were muslims and they were not beating the horses but now these guys are beating these poor souls it really not right.
Most of the horse owners are muslims in kedarnath. They have infiltrated into every pilgrim place of hindus. But nevertheless, if you feel attracted towards Shiva then you can try Kundalini yoga.

Next time the valley will no longer exist. Teerth is not supposed to be taken in one's convenience. In our grandparent's generation before going to teerth, they used to perform some kind of last rites because it was assumed that this journey is for moksha and pitra tarpan, not sure whether people will return or not.

The place look cool those are not horse maybe donkey and There's rise in religious beliefs in hindu community so that could be the reason many people going there then usual hence the burden on the poor animals . As non hindu it look beautiful place apart from religious pilgrimage. ❤

If they are earning livelihood from making a pony carry so much weight, then the pony should be treated much better than the owner who is doing nothing much than dragging the poor animal around. Animal slavery should stop at these places and people must walk or take airtaxi if you a bhakt.
