Switzerland has been on rise for many years now, thanks to their NHL players and some very good european players. They have had alot of succes in the group stage but no medals so far, but this year it is up to them to push over the limit and assert them selves as legit medalists to years to come.
It took us Finns many years of hard work to rise from mediocre results to gold medal in 1995. I really believe it is the Swiss turn this year to do the same.
Certainly agree! If Switzerland can play the way they’ve been playing they’ll do just fine in this one. Need to come out flying to avoid the momentum being stacked against them!

For obvious reasons Canada was considered the favorite to win it... won it a year a go... reached 7 of the last 9 gold medal games...
On the other hand Switzerland usually _smells blood_ vs Canada... and they are now the reason why Canada didn't reach 9 out of 9 finals.

I think Canada wouldn't have come back at all if Switzerland hadn't taken unnecessary penalties like the switching mistake before the end
That is fair but I think towards the end you could tell Canada was pressing. In my view it was only a matter of time before Canada could get one through the tough Swiss goalie Genoni who played outstanding! The delay of game penalty cost them but in reality it was forced by the vicious Canadian attack
@@onthefly1515 yes that's right, I think canada and Switzerland are always on a very similar level So sometimes Switzerland wins and sometimes Canada
It definitely depends on the year as the talent level coming over from the NHL tends to vary amongst years. This year I had Canada favoured by a decent margin however in years past where the NHL talent decided not to make the trek I had the two teams much more evenly matched! Will be interesting to see how the Swiss fare against a tough Czech team. Hope you’ll join us on the live stream!

Completely agree. My apologies if I made it seem that way. The Swiss still have a great team but in my view just not to the level of the other teams. They played exactly as they needed to to make it this far! Well earned!!!

Es war ein tolles Spiel, aber die Schweizer konnten Dostal einfach nicht schlagen! Schön, die Schweizer wieder an der Spitze zu sehen, auch wenn das auf Kosten meines Kanadas ging :(
I'm from the future: Instead of a shootout play 3x 5 minute 4th period. If it's drawed after the first 5mins, take off one player each, otherwise the leading time wins. Same thing for next 5 mins. If it's drawed after the 3v3, go for a shootout
I’d like to see continuous overtime personally but that one also sounds like an interesting idea!

Certainly were! Just an unfortunate timing with shootouts being there instead of continuous overtime. Potential for a change maybe
Well there will be no shootout in the gold medal game.
Thank goodness eh? So sick and tired of seeing such great games be decided by shootouts.
It's still better than sudden death overtime, there the opposite team has no opportunity to respond. Should play the whole overtime period instead.... In shootouts both teams have the same number of attempts at least.
@@sil1235 Oooooo this is an interesting idea! I’ve never thought of it before. Would be a unique and interesting way to decide a game! Would make the result even more deserving! I like it!
