Zack's dad was my Geography studies teacher in 7th grade. We used to call him Mr. Grease Monkey because of the way he slicked back his hair. He was a quiet guy, a little odd, but very nice. As he was passing out assignment papers one day he overheard me telling the kid next to me I was going to baseball practice after school. He lit up, all smiling and started telling me about Zack, that he was really good at baseball. I never saw Mr. Greinke that excited.....ever. I never forgot that. It was cool several years later when I pulled Zacks Bowman rookie card, I knew exactly who he was and was thought how happy his dad was. Baseball doesn't exists channel did a couple videos on Zack and one of them has his dad in it. Cool stuff.
That's so sweet! Greinke was awesome when on the Astros, for him to be unsigned is a shame. Wish the Stros would bring him back but he would need a bounce back for it to be worthwhile. I remember I brought about 40 dollars to a game once and spent the money I had on a Greinke jersey T-shirt, hes an inspiration to me to be honest.

Lopez: I was on the bench with him and we were facing someone who really liked cats. I was like: “You can't trust anyone who likes cats.” He goes: “Yeah, man, you really can't.” I go: “I like dogs. You got any, Zack?” He goes: “Nah, I would never get dogs. I've got a cat, though.”

Imagine not signing Greinke for this season. Baffling. So many teams have starters (and relievers) that are far, far worse than even zack greinke’s worst stretch.
Perception is reality. Zack had one of the worst stretches of his career in June-July 2023 (after a 2.30 ERA in May) and he hit the IL shortly thereafter. Feels like the retirement talk hit critical mass around then. I think he comes back next year and gets the 3,000 Ks... and at least twice as many wins as 2023. (meaning 4+, LOL)
From someone who is on the autism spectrum, Greinke is most definitely one of us. I'm no professional, but I do have 43 years of anecdotal evidence. I know from personal experience that many of the associated idiosyncrasies can rub a lot of people the wrong way; whether you play professional baseball, or you're an average schmoe like me. I dig the different eccentric baseball personalities, and I definitely think baseball history will reflect on Zach Greinke rather fondly.
100% ASD. Logically, everything he does makes sense; if you completely ignore any social norms.
No mention of Zack's consideration early in his career about quitting pro baseball to cut grass? C'mon bro!

On time at a batting practice at Dodger stadium , he was outside the dugout, someone was screaming Greinke!Greinke!! Then after like 5 straight minutes of the fan trying to get his attention cause he was trying to get an autograph, Zack acknowledged and point his finger to the fan, walk all the way from the dugout to left field looking at that guy straight to his face, felt like an eternity and when he was literally 3 feet from the guy , the guy with his baseball and pen ready for the autograph Greinke stop, stared at him for Like 10 seconds, and turn around, and walked back straight to the dugout , He didn’t say a word 😂😂😂

Greinke not signing Pat Neshek’s cards after he had already agreed earlier is my favorite. Zack mistook him for his former teammate Brad ZIegler also a baseball card enthusiast, so later refused.

@@JobiWan144 Too expensive, too quirky for some GMs, and frankly I think his wife said something along the lines of "Royals, Diamondbacks, or bust" and neither team has signed him. Yet. 2 weeks left for postseason roster consideration. More likely, he makes a comeback next year and hopefully finishes strong ala Mike Mussina's arc.

I got cut in highschool just because I threw and batted weird. despite being the second best hitter at tryouts. so I just stuck to soccer and never though about baseball for almost 10 years until I watched a video on zack by baseball doesn't exist, now, I am a die hard baseball fan again.

Pitchers are at times some strange birds. Greinke is in a class of his own. He cant even be bothered with I before E except after C. It could be no other way. Love you channel btw.
