Canada owes a tremendous debt to PM Harper. He consistently looked at issues with a clear eye. Free-trade agreements with 51 nations, and guiding Canada through the financial crisis are his legacy. He did a fine job.
I know some may say it's pretty crazy. But I think to "modernize" our money. We should retire Sir Wilfrid Laurier and put Stephen Harper. Sure Harper wasn't perfect like any politician but remember he did lead our country through the worst recession since the Great depression and things weren't perfect but they were better than where we are today. I would say things were pretty good or at least ok during his reign.
@@cr1ticalRevenge Barely. The Conservatives were *supposed* to be the budget hawks...then they overturned everything that the GST helped Paul Martin accomplish (and yes, that's me giving Mulroney/Wilson a healthy assist because they deserve great credit for implementing a highly unpopular policy because it was the right thing to do). Poof! Surplus disappears, never to return. And what was the most galling was how the cut was small enough to not properly incentivize new spending in the economy as intended, yet still managed to be substantial enough to completely destabilize government finances. A GST cut absolutely benefited upper class citizens more as they were the only ones who could afford the high end things to which a percentage point would matter. To Harper's credit, this provided a mirage of consumer confidence upon election (it took time to implement the changes so the surplus remained his first two years of office....combine that with the first few months of the lowered tax, the Canadian dollar got very strong.....there was strong purchasing power for the Canadian dollar from 2006-07). Then the reality of the change set in and the Conservatives didn't clean up the deficit until they had to gussy things up for an election they knew they were in danger of losing (and they did). Lower-to-middle class citizens saved two cents every time they bought a box of Smarties......all for the low price of perpetual deficit. If Harper had never promised to do a thing to the GST, he wouldn't have had to and I bet he would have actually accomplished a lot of things he wanted to accomplish anyway. The GST cut was a needless promise to win an election more won on Liberal fatigue than anything else.
The guy wanted to go, after accomplish his demonic mission, he has no need to stay in power, Justin will continue his tasks. If Justin could only revise and correct all the hacks that Harper did, we would be lucky
+Alberto Humova Harper's legacy is a birthchild of right wing neocon of united states and hijacked western Canadian libertarian conservative. Preston Manning were very naive about Harper's deep rooted agenda.
8 years ago, I wondered how many people remembered Pierre Elliot Trudeau and wondered how could electing another Trudeau be a good idea? I guess we have legal weed now. but the budget did not balance itself. I miss harper
His legacy you asked ? He knows all the best closets to hide in. He knows how to p*ss a whole nation so much that the "other" party beats him soundly. He knows how to embarrass a whole country and make his a laughing stock as did Heir Frump to his country. He knows all about being a loser. Now there's a legacy to remember (on voting day).
Who cares who pays for it. Do you think your going to win an election by pissing off anyone born in 1958 or later? Do you think someone who has a physical job wants to work till 67? The conservatives will never get the working man's vote or the unions. I am sure the rich will vote for them though, less than 1% of the voters.
My sister works in the public sector. She is 67.She has no intent to retire. The cake public sector dreamworld is such a free ride she will never leave until her health declines.
@mckessa17 You are so wrong about unions. The Conservatives are getting the working man's vote and support from trade unions. Members of the Pipe Fitters , Boiler makers, and Iron Workers unions across Canada are all in support of Pierre Poilievre. In my local Union, welders have bumper stickers on the back of thier welding trucks that say F*** Trudeau and a Conservative bumper sticker that says with the slogan BRING IT HOME.
I beg to differ, I rather did like the guy.

Stephen McDonald His legacy is that he hates Canada and likes the pigs below
Thanks for laugh! (Both for praising Harper and for reminding me of the great Leslie Nielsen)
Trudeau has made Harper's legacy shine. Harper was the best PM since MacDonald. I am proud to display the picture of the two of us together.
Greatest prime minister of all time
Thanks for the laugh
@@ashtvicelandif you think Justin Trudeau is better then Stephen harper then you’re a retard

That's just like Americans saying they miss Dubya
Canada didn't know how good they had it. What a contrast between then and now.
Mr Harper actually shaked my hand,
and I will always love him…
I can say that while he was the boss I never woke up every day hating the canadian government
“It’s hard to remember now but justin trudeau used to be the agent of change…”
I think all Canadians owe Harper an apology. He called it out exactly right about Trudeau.
He lowered taxes. That is all that mattered to me🔥
It will probably be better than the current PM's legacy.
Ohh how I miss this guy right now. We didn't have any nonsense back then... look where we're at now with these liberal buffoons.
He predicted what would happen under a Trudeau government!
Canada was doing just fine under his leadership. After 8 years of Trudolf we’re unrecognizable as a country
he is gone and we wish for him back...(i didnt really like him either..but...)
Greatest prime minister since John a macdonald himself.
He did a great job. Trudope has destroyed our once great country.
wow looking back at this you see how the CBC was out for him.
Best PM ever #Trudeaufortreason
His Legacy? that he was right about trudo
He did many positive things to Canada; however, I don't like him from external affairs to his personality. He is not same as Sir MacDonald or Dif.
0:49 he infringes ringo

Wow
Lower taxes benefit those who use public services the least. Harper was such a twat.
Then get a job! At least that was an option then you twat
Do you realize that lowering GST benefits everyone
