This tune helped me when I was 10 years old, my mum left home and I felt like a rejected ragged doll. The words just like you and me made me feel I was not alone. I would comfortably sing away to myself.

Oh, I remember this show! Apparently I'm somewhat related to the creator. My gran always used to go on about this famous relative who created this show. I think it was a second cousin or something - no-one I ever met.
When I was a little kid, it seemed like a big claim to fame!

This probably sounds weird, but I cried watching this theme. Its been about ten years since I last watched it (I'm 18 now) and I adored this program as a child and would rewatch my video tapes so much. I guess I just felt a bit sentimental, having not seen this for over ten years.

Yet it's actually asymmetry that defines most attractive faces to most people. Symmetrical faces actually look less attractive to most humans because it's so rare. Good luck finding many people that have all the features you describe. I wonder what colour the hair would be to be allegedly 'perfect'.

Oh god, it is the strangest sensation ever listening to these old tunes and other things from the 80s and 90s right? Anyway growing up in that era knows what I mean. A massive mixture of memories, happiness and joy, BUT for me anyway, a huge mix of sadness, missing things, longing for those times again and all of the people and all of the times and all of the other million things that simply made the 80s and 90s the BEST of everything. We can tell kids of today what it was like, we can tell them until we are blue in the face but no one who was not there will ever truly know just how good

This was probably the first times I heard Neil Innes' voice; only later did I find out he was in the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. If you don't know them, they were a great experimental band, and eccentric even by 1960s standards.

Just thought about this series today. I know this series is supposed to be optimistic and encourage people to be themselves even if society isn't reqarding uniqueness, but the atmosphere makes me feel as if the characters are dead and spending their time in wherever raggy dolls go when they die. At least heaven is a nice place.

It’s not much of a life when you’re just a pretty face
Just to be whoever you are is no disgrace
Don’t be scared if don’t fit in
Look who’s in the reject bin
It’s the Raggy Dolls Raggy Dolls Dolls like you & me
Raggy Dolls Raggy Dolls made imperfectly
So if you got a bump on your nose or a lump on your toes
Do not despairbe like the Raggy Dolls and say I just don’t care
    Cause Raggy Dolls Raggy Dolls
    Are happy just to be
    Raggy Dolls, Raggy Dolls
    Dolls like you & me

Far from the picture that is painted of it by todays revisionists, the past was actually more tolerant than today in many ways. The words to this cartoon illustrates that point well and bear in mind these shows were watched by more people than even successful mainstream shows today. It gave the message that it was ok not to be perfect, which is not the impression that todays young people get from watching the trashy reality stars with their fake everything. Bravo.

Why aren't there more cartoons like this? That teach that not only is it okay to be different, but actually very good! That's a healthy message in today's world where kids are pressured to all be alike. As for the song, there must be a scientific anomaly that guarantees that once this tune enters your head, it stays there.
