Zeke, can you explain why the pull shot is preferred over the push shot? I started with the push shot, but now I use mostly the snake, but still prefer the push to the pull in other situations/tables.
smokecigar He's mentioned it before on another video somewhere, but his basic advice was if it works for you at the level of play you want, then go for it, regardless of what type of shot it is. The major reason is it is harder (though possible) to square the long push shot because of the mechanics of your arm. Most long push shots end up spraying to the hole, and while it's not bad, you want to be able to hit square and spray options at will, which is easier on pull shot. It's nicer on your arm to pull shot then push square (snaps arm back in place), than it is to push shot then pull square (yanks your arm).
The pull shot has a wide open view to the goal which makes it easier to shoot, or more desirable. The push shot has a wide open view to a straight in shot, but straight in shots are a lot easier than long shots against tough defenses.
No to all of these above. Its about the physical leverage of the shot. The way your arm has to push verses the way you arm pulls are two different leverages. The pull has more flex and snap because of the position of the arm leverage wise.
thank, thank, thank, zeke
Thanks for sharing! Do you have any tipps on defending a good pull shooter? I find pulls harder to defend than snakes... Greetingz, Sam
