Shawn Ray should’ve won in 1990 too he only didn’t because of politics. He failed a drug test at the Arnold Classic a few months prior so they didn’t wanna give him the Sandow incase he failed again coz it would’ve been extremely controversial for the sport at the time but they should’ve still gave it to him since Haney was significantly off that year and Shawn passed the test at the Olympia
Funny how they say he failed a drug test. They're obviously all on the sauce. And the fact that the commission thinks that nobody could tell they're on steroids, blows my mind.
@@johncowling5750 1990 was the only year they tested competitors because they were trynna get bodybuilding into the Olympics which obviously didn’t work coz steroids are damn near mandatory in high level bodybuilding which was proven when they stopped testing the next year and Lee Haney came in looking at his all time best
@jordanhickey9785: Same thing they did in 1980 Mr. O. Shoving Mike Mentzer down the ladder in 5th place, I believe. Arnold was, and still is, the most overrated bodybuilder. Same with 1981 Mr. O. Placing Tom Platz in 3rd. All to show that these guys don't even deserve 2nd place. Both Arnold and Franco Columbo didn't even deserve to be in the final 6 pose down in 1980 and 1981 Mr. Olympias.
1996 - Shawn has a case - but Dorian was the rightful winner. Dorian wasn’t perfect - but he was certainly on enough. 1994?? That should have been the first year that mass monsters were out in their place. Making sure they at least come in condition and not missing total body parts - Shawn 100% should have won. 1996 - I should say for argument sake - if Shawn were the defending champion - I’d be giving him the win 1996. Dorian was the defending champ - so I’d say he deserved it…. Barely
In my opinion (and I've thought about this topic a LOT in the last let's say 10 years since I follow BB) there are 3 tiers of "uncrownedness": Tier 1: objective winners; major f.ckup from the judges Tier 2: very controversial wins, but the winner still had merits however some other athletes had better overall impression on the crowd or followers of BB. Tier 3: mostly wishful thinking with some guys in the lineup actually having title-worthy physiques but somehow still lost. So judging by this standard, I have the following names in these tiers Tier 1: Victor Martinez for 2007, Tom Platz for 1983 Tier 2: Nasser el-Sonbaty (or Shawn Ray) for 1997, Günther Schlierkamp in 2002 (edit: maybe 1980 can be named here, although I'm still torn a bit because nobody looked really stellar that year, many guys lacking in some major areas. I have The Oak winning every time, but with a very lazy effort) Tier 3: you can basically name a bunch of guys here, with many versions of Kevin, Flex, Shawn, Kai, Ramy, Hadi and others. I would only call tier 1 and 2 "uncrowned Mr Olympias", Tier 3 guys were "just" amazing, but didn't actually and truly deserve to win any year they entered. Maybe you can name Hadi from 2023 to Tier 2. (remark: I'm writing this comment while listening to the video and I'm happy to see that your top 2 is the same as mine ;) )
Solid list. '07 might be the most obvious. But I can't agree with you on '97. Dorian looked terrible and Nasser looked like a superhero. Was clearly political.
I think it's important to note than 93, 94, 95 and 96 were all somewhat controversial. Dorian won all of these....so is that saying Dorian is one of the least deserving O winners?
I could give 1995 to Kevin easily. I’m not talking a “pose for pose” standpoint - I’m saying (as I’ve said many times) judges should have punished mass monsters when they came in way off or completely missing body parts. 1995 Dorian had a little of both. Judges simply just had to say “you don’t need to have the flow of Flex/Shawn - but you need to be in condition with a trim enough waist and you cannot be winning with completely missing parts” simple as that
@@fatboy5926 Dorian might literally be at his best in the 95 olympia.....Kevin probably has my favourite physique ever but by bodybuilding standards Dorian won that year pretty convincingly.
2002 - it had a bit of Jay Cutler 2007/2008 of a feel. 2001 Ronnie was given the benefit of the doubt. Jay was sensational - but he wasn’t yet complete. His back couldn’t match not only Ronnie - but even a few other guys - Ronnie was given the benefit. 2002 people sort of felt I’d Ronnie is off again he needs to be punished - and off he was 😂😂 Jay was punished 08 after being given a gift 07 - Ronnie shouldn’t have won 2002
This video will teach someone more about the corrupt and entrenched "go along to get along", not to mention - continuing - culture & history of the Weider's IFBB than anything else. Especially that which is supposed to do that very same thing. However, you left off the most glaring offense.... 1980. Arnold was not a legit entry [supposed to be retired] a late entry [against the rules - big time] nor was he the best that showed up. R.I.P. Mike Mentzer. Weider franchise shoulda gone before him. Still - the video is more worth a watch than 99% of the brainwashed nonsense out here, otherwise - which lauds the victors as champions legitimately. I dont think Flexatron shoulda taken 2018, but he was a good pick nonetheless. How they did him after.... is disgusting. What a sick franchise. Glorious sport. A new king maker need be brought forth. What say you - We The People? Overthrow nepotistic tyrants.
The only person on this list who is actually an uncrowned Mr O is Nasser.... Maybe Victor, but that's it. Being close doesn't make you uncrowned. Only someone who was truly robbed should even be mentioned
@@JakeUltimateFitnessever thought of roger walker? he looked crazy muscular that year. seen a side by shot of him and arnold in the single arm bicep pose and arnold looked skinny next to roger
Roger Walker had a super underrated physique. Much like many competitors at the time though, if you weren’t famous or a real standout, you didn’t get a top-tier placing
what do you guys think about the list?
Left off 1980 - the most egregious of offenses.
But, i think of highly of it, nonetheless.
I think you got the entire thing off of Chat GPT and you didn’t do a dam bit of your own research into this list at all.

I appreciate that!
Tom Platz for sure. Besides his legs he was ahead of his time in muscle density and conditioning
What the did to Gunther should be illegal. I do think it was close between him and Ronnie, however he should have not been 5th

Gunther is the absolute champion of 2002 olympia, he had the best shape in the bb history. He was completed robbed
Great idea for a video.
the 90s we're diffy best era
Great video! Though I'm personally not a fan of Gunther's physique and preferred Padilla to Platz in '81

You forgot about Mike mentzor 1980 Mr Olympia. He was a clear winner, but placed 5th, which made him quit bodybuilding
What about the Olympia of '80?
I don’t think it was a robbery or anything, u can check out my videos on it

Left bicep

Thats just not true at all. Jays back in 01 was probably at its best. His lower lats and christmas tree dissapeared in later years.
