I dashed in the upper class part of Northeast Houston and literally the biggest house (gated community, million dollar homes & all) I ever delivered to did not tip AT ALL. The rich do no like to share the wealth it seems. I guess that’s how they stay rich

I'll note that the one time I delivered to a gated community with large homes (in Fort Worth, TX), I got a $20 tip. I've also got other generous tips from rich people around here.
Perhaps people here are just friendlier and more courteous?

Grabbing the hot food while shopping...it always looks good but too messy and takes too much time. I've found that the higher income areas do not necessarily tip better..in fact worse usually. On Thanksgiving day, I delivered a supermarket flower assortment at dinnertime for a house..$5 million house..holiday primetime..NO TIP. That was disappointing. I’m dashing now to get current with environment and also it’s a ‘blast from the past’, used to deliver mostly in Brookline/Brighton/Allston area in the 90’s (yes in the 1990’s decade). Not much has changed regarding the demographics of this area. It’s a hotspot for restaurants and young professionals.

I delivered to some of the nicest mansions imaginable in LA (including Beverly Hills), and the cliche is true...The extremely rich do not tip well. Honestly, the nicest thing I can say is that the tips are average, maybe slightly above average (and this is sometimes with huge orders). In general, the best tips are from unassuming houses, generally nice (or above average) houses in nice areas.

Definitely noticed both as a server and a driver, the more well off the person the less they tip and the lesser they treat you. I grew up in a decently well off family but it was hard earned money. My dad started as a waiter and worked his way up to being a banquet director in 5 star hotels. His dad layed carpet. He has known true struggles and he never let us forget it, he also taught us to work for every single cent we have. He gave us the basics food, shelter, clothing etc because we were children but if we wanted extras we worked for them. I bought my first coach bag at 16 with money it took me 6 months to earn. I'm 35 and I still have that bag as a reminder to myself never to loose my principals. You can be well off and still raise your kids to know humility.

@K G who are you to tell me what to spend my money on. I wanted that bag, the bag was my goal, I got a job and saved to pay for it. Obviously it took so long because I was also using some of my income for "more practical things"...but that's not really my point or your business. I wanted it, I worked for it, I got it. There is no shame in that. You're just on here judging people you don't know for no reason.
