Interesting exercise, but how often in a show do they mark time with high leg lift? I preferred to practice the motions needed on the field, but the idea of concentration and being mentally tough is useful.
Drum corps would use to do it a lot back in the 70s and 80s. Most don't anymore, but the concentration, control, and mental toughness are important for any marching show, as you said.
helps with balance, timing, and upper body control. Even if you don't do high leg-lift in the show, as part of a basics program, it can help the other stuff so much. jmo
If you need to mark your dot on the floor, you just rip off a piece and place it. After rehearsal you just pick up the tape so you're not damaging the area.
