My dude this is December camp lmao. Obviously you see that allowing staff to teach over time works because it is a whole long season this was literally offseason.
@@ryanmaidment774 My problem is that the instruction isn't adjusted for the level of the ensemble. It's pompous, heavy-handed, but most of all it is ignoring the technical end of the needs of these very young students - especially for such an early season rehearsal. The 10 minutes of this video is clearly lacking context, and it perhaps doesn't capture a particularly strong chunk of instruction, but his general tone and a few specific moments are indicative of this dude's perspective. You have to ask yourself whether or not his comments are contributing to improvement. This shit is hard to do. It takes extremely high levels of self-awareness and control. It just seems to me that there is a lot of ego involved here, especially for the early season. I'm not trying to say that the guy isn't good at what he does, I just personally wouldn't want to be in his hornline if this is an example of the regular quality of instruction.
@@MrBochawa I'm hoping that this was twenty minutes after the first read, but yeah, I was wincing quite a lot at what he was saying. "What are you afraid of?", in that tone of voice, and there's a raft of kids who are nervous as shit about getting cut (because some of 'em will get cut)... yeah, that'd put anyone on edge. I had a rehearsal with another big-name caption head/writer/arranger and the general tone was almost the opposite of what we saw here, and by god, we advanced leaps and bounds in that one weekend.
this is it, flo. this is the offseason content we need.
PLEASE MORE OF THIS!!! THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE RESOURCE FOR TECHS AND TEACHERS!
Yoooo I’ve been waiting for this. I got to experience it as a mello, greatest experience I’ve had
Do it again!

@@BerserkRain I'm not saying the brass is awful. The instruction is awful.
@@MrBochawa Just for curiosity sake, what about it is poor instruction to you? Just trying to discern for myself
