"I've got six little friends and they can all run faster than you can" my favourite line in this. Clooney plays it dead serious as a career criminal, which helps sell the whole movie. We as the audience get a total right turn as the movie changes direction and becomes a full on monster movie at the end.
Back in 1996, all the trailers for this movie in TV, on home video, or in the theater gave away that this movie was about vampires. It was everywhere. Damn I feel so old about talking about something from the 90s like this, but I guess it is nearly 30 years ago. It won't be long before I have to tell people, "well back in 2009, that's how this movie was seen".

QT - "Let's make a movie that's like the fuckin' Getaway with Steve McQueen first half and then it just becomes a batshit crazy vampire B movie second half." Robert Rodriguez - "K."
Tarantino has done television, as well. Not just the Dusk Till Dawn adaptation but he wrote my favorite two-part episode of CSI called "The Gravedigger". And probably met Clooney early on when Tarantino directed an episode of ER.
Sex Machine was played by Tom Savini who worked with George Romero doing make up effects for his films and also acted in many of them. The guy in the bar who he whipped away his beer is Greg Nicotero who also worked with Tom on make up effects in many films and also worked on the great werewolf film The Howling so seeing these two together in a scene was a great geek moment. Greg Nicotero is now known for his work on The Walking Dead as the effects manager and producer of the series.
I saw this in the theatre with a friend and at the time this movie had been marketed as a vampire flick. So it’s like 45 minutes in and I whisper to my buddy ‘isn’t this supposed to have vampires?’ It’s an hour in before there’s an inkling of a vampire. So great!
That's Tarantino for you. He throws away more potential Oscar's than anyone! I wonder what he's thinking sometimes. "I'm gonna create a cinematic masterpiece of action, crime and drama that will win all the Academy Awards with an all-star cast, and be remembered for generations to come as the benchmark of movie brilliance..." (halfway through) "Ah fvck it, I'm bored. Let's make it a comedy vampire flick instead. WOOHOO!!!" 😂😂😂

I still contend that the greatest Tarantino cameo is in a middleweight indie rom-com from the mid-90s called "Sleep With Me." He shows up as a rando during a party scene and explains the "true meaning" of the movie "Top Gun."
Juliette Lewis was also in the movie Whip It (2009) with Elliot Page, Drew Barrymore, Kristen Wiig, Marcia Gay Harden, and a lot of other familar actors. It's a really fun and heartfelt movie.
Exceptionally well played - it’s comparatively rare to get a genuine unsuspecting reaction to the vampire reveal. Even at release it seemed that most people knew about it in advance.
I can’t focus on the movie-on one side, we got TBR having the time of his life laughing his ass off, and on the other Samantha looks absolutely horrified. LOL I love it!
Fun fact: The band in this film was called Tito And The Tarantulas: the lead, Tito Larriva, used to have a punk band called The Plugz, and did several songs for the Mike Nesmith/Alex Cox film "Repo Man" (which you two really need to see...), and had a hit with a Spanish version of the song "Secret Agent Man". Oh - prior to 9/11, you didn't need a passport to travel to Canada or Mexico.
Sex Machine was played by Tom Savini, famous for his prosthetics/makeup work in a lot of classic '80s slasher/zombie movies -- he was a fantastic add to the cast of this movie.
Saw this movie shortly after it was available in video stores (it's like amazon prime video, but in a building...) and didnt know anything about it and didnt know who George Clooney even was. The twist in the middle was such a surprise, ridicolous and cool at the same time. Love this movie, it has not a single boring second in it. Pure entertainment for a fun movie night. And i love the chemistry between all characters.
I love this movie. It starts out as a "fugitives on the run" crime film to pull you in, then it suddenly turns left into splatterhouse vampire movie. One of the craziest plot turns you'll ever see. It comes out of nowhere and it's fucking brilliant.

Now here is a reaction you don't see everyday 😳 what an awesome " Shock Drop " LFG 🔥 BTW, the song playing during the infamous Salma scene is by **Tito and Tarantula-"After Dark" ...rocking this tune for 25+ years lol 🥵 whole soundtrack for that matter, possibly only topped by you guessed it, " Desperado " 🎶
Since y'all opened up a can of Robert Rodriguez beans you should definitely check out "The Faculty". It's from 1998 and it's basically Scream and The thing rolled into one.
Awesome, that you reacted to this movie. This was an impressive one for me also in my early teens. Legendary! And I didn't know about the Vampires either. First it's a thriller then it turns into a splatter movie. Crazy. Desperado, The Faculty, Once Upon a Time in Mexico are good ones too from Rodriguez. And his best movie I think it Sin City, that's just a master piece of art!
Desperato is a great film. Not many know that it is actually the second film in a series. The first is El Mariachi and the third is called Once Upon a Time in Mexico.
There were also a number of movies that came with a 'Quentin Tarantino Presents' tag, which were movies to which he lent his name to help promote them, was directly involved, or released under his Rolling Thunder distribution company
Robert Rodriguez also directed Alita Battle Angel. An instant classic. Also, George Clooney was known for playing a good guy in the pre-gray’s anatomy hospital show, ER. He wanted to break away from his good guy image because he didn’t want to be typecasted in the future. It worked. Also guys, Robert Rodriguez directed Spy Kids so not all of his work is ultra violent
15:31 That's Cheech Marin, in his second of three roles in this movie. 18:34 Don't care what she really looks like, just give me five minutes before brutally murdering me. 😍 19:06 I'm not a fan of feet, but I'd make an exception for Salma Hayek.😛 19:45 Watching a great movie about a couple of outlaws, when suddenly....🧛🧛♀🦇 Samantha's reaction was everything I hoped for. 🤣 Clooney has three of my favourite lines in Cinematic History in this one movie: "Your best better get a hell of a lot fu**ing better, or you are gonna feel a hell of a lot fu**ing worse." "You can all live forever, or die this second, and I don't give a sh!t which." "Psychos do not explode when sunlight hits them, I don't give a fu** how crazy they are."
Unfortunately, back when this movie came out, the studio was dumb enough to give away the whole vampire thing in the trailers. This always made me mad, because the best way to first experience this movie is the way Samantha did: completely blind and knowing nothing about where it's going. Just thinking it's a criminals-on-the-run crime film, and nothing else. I envy people who get to experience that out-of-nowhere turn this movie takes. If you're lucky enough to go into this movie blind, it's definitely one of the most fun cinematic experiences you can have. Thankfully, enough time has passed that people can experience this film that way again. Was an absolute joy getting to watch Samantha's reaction during that part, and good job TBR not spoiling it for her. Tarantino and Rodriguez have collaborated a few times since this, but this still remains my favorite collabo of theirs. Just the perfect blend of both of their styles and cinematic sensibilities.
When writing From Dusk Till Dawn, Quentin Tarantino took inspiration from films like John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13 in 1976, and the 1986 vampire movie Vamp with Grace Jones.
44:00 - at the time I worked in a video rental store, and I remember watching this movie and being totally surprised when it changes from a crime thriller to a vampire movie! So I think that nothing on the movie poster, cover and trailer said anything about that.
"He's so animated!" Sex Machine is played by actor/stuntman/FX tech Tom Savini. Robert Rodriguez packs his movies with his idols when he can, and Tom is definitely on the list (note the cameo by horror icon John Saxon). Savini also appears in RR's Planet Terror.

EASILY. Makes zero jokes but is still so quotable and hilarious.
So if you were alive or obviously old enough (at least 6 or 7 years old I guess), you would remember. Damn I feel so old about talking about something from the 90s like this, but I guess it is nearly 30 years ago. It won't be long before I have to tell people, "well back in 2009, that's how this movie was seen".
@@John-ct9zs You think you are OLD!! I can still remember audiences' reactions to: Jaws, The Exorcist, The Omen, Poltergeist, The Godfather, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Night of the Living Dead, Halloween, and many others when those movies first came out to the theater!!
Impressionable age and Salma Hayek in Dusk till Dawn. I think we know why Desperado stuck in your memory as well...
QT - "Let's make a movie that's like the fuckin' Getaway with Steve McQueen first half and then it just becomes a batshit crazy vampire B movie second half."
Robert Rodriguez - "K."
Brilliant idea
"Ankle biter."
There's actually a movie about dwarf vampires called Ankle Biters.
The tagline is Three Feet Tall, Two Inch Fangs.
I now Have to go and find this film...
I need a bag of either Acapulco Gold or something like that to watch it. It helped with Troll and Troll 2.
Samanthas reaction was so good. I knew this would be so surprising and what male wouldn't have the Salma dance scene burned into their memory.😂😂😂😂
I saw this in the theatre with a friend and at the time this movie had been marketed as a vampire flick. So it’s like 45 minutes in and I whisper to my buddy ‘isn’t this supposed to have vampires?’
It’s an hour in before there’s an inkling of a vampire. So great!
Ooh! Can't wait for you guys to get to "Natural Born Killers"! That movie is a wild ride from start to finish!
"What do you think i want, you mean old bastard?? I want a fucking room!!"
- Ive been hoping for a grouchy guy at a hotel desk for almost 30 years now
When your expecting this movie to be a mix between Pulp Fiction and Natural Born Killers, they decided to add vampires to the mix.
It really does start off with an NBK feel, albeit way more tame 😅, until the vampires show up.
I had a friend who hated it because of the shift to vampires in the middle of the movie. He was hoping for more Pulp Fiction lol
16:14 "at least there's some sense of security being in a public place now." -Daniel
"is it???" -Sam
the look on Sam's face! 😆

Oh I loved the look on your face when it was starting to turn into a vampire movie, you knew it was coming but Sam didn’t!!!
I saw this in the theater when it was released and had no idea going in that it was a vampire movie, It still makes me laugh when the reveal happens.
*"Psychos do not explode when sunlight hits them; I don't give a fock how crazy they are!!!*
- Easily one of my ATF lines
If you try to run, I've got six little friends and they can all run faster than you can.
That line comes from the 1965 Disney Movie That Darn Cat.
I love how you were so concerned “Oh no, Sex Machine!” Hahaha😂
I still contend that the greatest Tarantino cameo is in a middleweight indie rom-com from the mid-90s called "Sleep With Me." He shows up as a rando during a party scene and explains the "true meaning" of the movie "Top Gun."
"Destiny turns on the radio" is another good one.
Fun fact:
The band in this film was called Tito And The Tarantulas: the lead, Tito Larriva, used to have a punk band called The Plugz, and did several songs for the Mike Nesmith/Alex Cox film "Repo Man" (which you two really need to see...), and had a hit with a Spanish version of the song "Secret Agent Man".
The guy that pulled A knife on him is Greg Nicotero who did sfx work on The Walking Dead.
@@Necrowolf81 Greg was trained by tom on day of the dead
Saw this movie shortly after it was available in video stores (it's like amazon prime video, but in a building...) and didnt know anything about it and didnt know who George Clooney even was. The twist in the middle was such a surprise, ridicolous and cool at the same time. Love this movie, it has not a single boring second in it. Pure entertainment for a fun movie night. And i love the chemistry between all characters.
This was a fantastic reaction! Probably one of your best. Samantha's face during this was hilarious.
I love this movie. It starts out as a "fugitives on the run" crime film to pull you in, then it suddenly turns left into splatterhouse vampire movie. One of the craziest plot turns you'll ever see. It comes out of nowhere and it's fucking brilliant.
If you haven't seen Sin City, that is also Robert Rodriguez, with Quentin Tarantino as a guest director.
I knew the movie experience was something special when Samantha was almost speechless instead of the usual "I loved it." after finishing the movie.😃
Noice! Normally I watch through my subscriptions alphabetically, but as soon as I saw this I came running (well...clicking really).
Such an excellent and unexpected movie, and possibly my favourite George Clooney performance.
Cheers and Happy Weekend, Scmitts. 🥃☮❤
The opening 10 minutes of this movie is incredible. I love how it changes gears halfway through, but this movie is so much fun.
Hard left and slams on the gas. Love it.
Definitely watch Desperado. Be sure to watch El Mariachi first, then Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico in that order. These were some of my favorite movies growing up.
16:00 "What a selection" 😅
17:00 "What a lively place..." So wholesome ♥️
24:30 "Ankle biter" 😅
“Everybody be cool.
You.
BE COOL.”
Another great line.
@@matthewdooley7855Taken from Tim Roth, in Reservoir Dogs.
Samathas reaction to realizing it was a vampire movie was just *chefs kiss.
Juliette Lewis came by her talent honestly. Her Father was great character actor Geoffrey Lewis. You would recognize him. He was in over 200 movie an t.v.
Can’t believe I saw this movie when I was 8 or younger hahah on vhs no less. 👌 great reaction guys. And of course you remember Selma in this and Desperado.
'Go home, Kate. I may be a bastard, but I'm not a f-ing bastard.'
It's fucking.
El Mariachi, Desperado, Once Upon a Time in Mexico! The Mariachi trilogy you gotta see em all!
2 years ago they showed the movie in theaters and when Salma Hayek scene started, the crowd was cheering😂 Also, the son's shirt Precinct 13 is based on a John Carpenter film Assualt on Precinct 13.
I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to see someone who had zero idea what the plot was react to this… you guys are always great. Looking forward to more Fall of the… I’m not spelling all of that
Didn't know you guys reacted to True Romance. Gotta search for that vid. Hey, another really good Christian Slater movie you two should definitely watch is "Hard Rain" (1998). Amazing movie! It also stars Morgan Freeman, Randy Quaid, Minnie Driver, and the incomparable legend, Betty White.

@@TBRSchmitt - Thanks!! 😁
Juliette Lewis is in a really great drama called, #title "The Other Sister". Which also stars Diane Keaton, Giovanni Ribisi, Sarah Paulson, and Tom Skerritt.
Wow!!! YES!!!
Love this movie! I saw the movie theater next to my house was playing this one night last week, I was SO tempted to go
Since y'all opened up a can of Robert Rodriguez beans you should definitely check out "The Faculty".
Soon as i seen the Thumbnail i said. oh, she not not ready! lol
Modesty Blaise comes to mind.
19:06 I'm not a fan of feet, but I'd make an exception for Salma Hayek.😛
19:45 Watching a great movie about a couple of outlaws, when suddenly....🧛🧛♀🦇 Samantha's reaction was everything I hoped for. 🤣
Clooney has three of my favourite lines in Cinematic History in this one movie:
"Your best better get a hell of a lot fu**ing better, or you are gonna feel a hell of a lot fu**ing worse."
"You can all live forever, or die this second, and I don't give a sh!t which."
"Psychos do not explode when sunlight hits them, I don't give a fu** how crazy they are."
Growing up, I thought that "I would drink her bathwater" was the dumbest expression. After seeing Desperado and this, it suddenly made perfect sense.
@@clevelandcbi I'm not sure that anyone in the history of The Multi-Verse has been as hot as Salma Hayek in Desperado.
"He's so animated!"
Sex Machine is played by actor/stuntman/FX tech Tom Savini. Robert Rodriguez packs his movies with his idols when he can, and Tom is definitely on the list (note the cameo by horror icon John Saxon). Savini also appears in RR's Planet Terror.
You missed Greg Nicotero, the guy that pulled A knife on him. He is a sfx guy most notable for working on The Walking Dead.
This is one of my top 5 movies ever. It´s sooo entertaining, good music, funny, enjoyable as hell!!! Gecko bros´are incredibly charismathic! And Salma´s dance OMG... all the film it´s a masterpiece.
