  • We take on the gold wire inlay with a new method we have been trying! What do you think of this method? We don't work with gold often but when we do want it to look as good as possible. This way we create a seam that is hard to find!

    Try using a burnisher on the gold. The seam will go together a lot better invisible if you burnish it long and strong with 18k gold. A hand burnisher will work but the wheel burnisher will work better use it LIGHTLY.

      I believe this is 1mm, or 18 guage.

    Hi I was wondering what turning tool you used to cut the groove for the inlay.

    Is it possible to make the ring out of solid 10 k , 15 k or 18 k gold instead of tungsten? I want one of these for my husband.

    Beautiful why is the wood need to be cut in half can't it just be slid over the metal?

    • @DreamwoodRings
      @DreamwoodRings  2 года назад

      Thank you! Since we have metal walls on both sides of this ring the wood cannot be slid over the metal. It needs to be broken and put back together again in order to get into the channel. Take a look at some of our other videos we show the process a little bit slower and more detailed!

    • @DreamwoodRings
      @DreamwoodRings  2 года назад +1

      Thank you! Using a jet wood lathe 1221, collete chuck, and mandrel from ring supplies. We do also sell carbon fiber nylon mandrels set for $25 if you are looking to get started a little cheaper as well. Metal lathe is = to precision Mathews lathe.

    Great video! I just wanted to ask if you knew if it would be possible to use bendwood and no lathe to get a similar result?

      Thank you! I think so, would you think about using a drill in some way?

    • @harcoo8544
      @harcoo8544 2 года назад

      @@DreamwoodRings I was going to use a triange file and a drill. I wasn't sure though if it would cut accurately enough for the wire

      @@harcoo8544 I would say practice your inlay cutting and see how it goes. When I was starting out I always had a super hard time cutting a straight inlay on a drill. I think it could be done, just difficult.
