    Bravo- amazing clarity and dexterity of the hands and feet, played on a wonderful instrument. That is how Mendelssohn should be played. I could listen to such organ playing all day!

    I'm very perplexed as to why/how 7 viewers (to date: 8 June 2018) could possibly give this *superbly played work* a "thumbs down," as it's the *best rendition* of this well-crafted W. Th. Best transcription I've yet heard.
    *"I find no fault"* in Best, organist Kristian Krogsøe or this magnificent and noble instrument! Thank you! 👍👏
    (I'm curious about the many small, wooden, numbered "protuberances" under the usual stop drawknobs. I've never seen them on any other consoles/keydesks. Can anyone educate me? Thanks.)

    Very good coverage by the camera which is too often lacking in many internet videos, and it is visual as well as musical! Of course, the player is n fine form, too,

    Without a doubt, this is the *best performance* of this difficult transcription I've seen/heard to date.
    Not only expressively played, but executed with superbly controlled and "quiet" technique and skill. (You obviously had great teachers!)
    The sequencer/stepper certainly makes registration changes a breeze, as well!
    Thank you, Sir. You play beautifully; and this wonderful, "warm & rich" instrument is perfectly suited to Mendelssohn's beautifully-crafted music (which I dearly love). 👍👍👍
    PS: can anyone tell me what the many small, wooden "protuberances" are on the side stop jambs? I'm American, and we never see these on organs here.
    Also, is there a *link* for this organ's *stoplist?*
    Many thanks!

      I guess, this small things are oldfashioned sequencer (you can see equivalent on different german organ like this ruclips.net/video/XyvTnxro9sg/видео.html )
      In this case you had 3 different free combinaisons. I think they have switch to a modern sequencer but keep the old consol.

    Why this strong legato from 02:25? For me it would sound better played in a slack, non legato way. I love the recording with Kurt Masur and the Gewandhausorchestra where he playes the theme of the fugue in a complete broad non legato but with an enormous drive. But great performance anyway.

    •  8 лет назад

      That's a matter of taste. I personally prefer legato in this case. By the way - it is also written in the score. But 4:37 and further is the subject written (and also better sounding) without legato.

    • @alansutton7046
      @alansutton7046 7 лет назад

      There is always this problem when you play a transcription - do you play in the style of the original composer or the transcriber? Mendelssohn would have had less legato. Best, the transcriber more. It is up to the performer to decide, and there will always be some compromise. Actually Mr Krogsoe follows the directions of Best otherwise almost to the letter.
