- Recycling a blue glass bottle on ceramic during glaze firing. First attempt wasn't hot enough so I pulled out "The Beast".
The glaze used is just black oxide and clear lowfire glaze over groggy off-white stoneware (bisque fired first), some extra clear glaze was applied to help the glass melt during the refiring. No other glaze colours were included! A beautiful result from recycling this bottle.

Oh that is sooo COOL!! I love all the different techniques artists come up with when using weird medium 🙌
Brilliant and really interesting
Great pot..
Beautiful and super helpful thank you
Isn’t that the same silica which causes silicosis?😮 how do you handle it? I can see your kiln is outside. But what if it was indoors? I want to use the magic sand but should I buy a vacuum cleaner which vacuums into water? I’m confused😑
That's if you inhale fine silica dust (for example sanding your pottery indoors without a mask). This is heavy sand (like beach sand), there is no dust when handling but if you're still worried, wear a mask.
