I read the trilogy and saw the movie several times and I did not remember that part. I teared up as Stephen spoke Sam's words and hope pierced my gloom. Stephen, you are a true and faithful Tolkien fan. All I can say (on my knees and bowing) "I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy"!
