The black streaks on the trunk of birch trees are called lenticels, and their function is to enable the exchange of gases between the tree and the air.
😭 hi Sara.
I just moved my family far away from my first home and for the first time in a week I started watching your videos again.
You're the closest most comfy thing I have in my life right now. Thank you ❤
This was so much fun. I really enjoyed it. I have found that when my tape sticks I use a heat tool on a low setting for just a couple of seconds and it releases the adhesive on the tape just enough to pull it off without tearing. The thing that has drawn me to Let's Make Art if the enthusiasm that you and your whole team have when doing these tutorials. I just get so excited about Art. Thank you
Birches are the state tree of NH. That's why are mts. are called the White Mts. We have a lot of birches! Birch bark is also good for making canoes.
I am so in love with the whole Wabi Sabi box.
I am painting this now and just want to say, after doing tutorials with you, Sarah, you and your husband are so calming and funny. I really enjoy your positivity and your instructions are easy to follow. Thank you for all you do! It has helped me ignite my passion for Art again. You are a blessing!
I have this acrylic paint in copper because that's my fave kind if metalluc. Definitely going to use it on this project!
❤❤❤Awesome
I loved doing this so much. I love both of your energies! Keenan's enthusiastic cheerleaders always makes me smile. Thanks so much!
Stunning
absolutely loved this one. exactly what I needed today!
So fun, I can't wait to try this. It reminded me of my happy place!
I love how your tape doesn't tear the watercolor paper, can you share the type of masking tape you use? Thank you so much. Very very nice watercolor.
I do it all for myself -- for my BRAIN. I don't mind throwing it away or tearing it up. Impermanence is good.
I just now discovered this channel and am 100% in love already. I'm rather new to this world, so I'm super loving the kids videos ~ you make me feel I can do the "scary" things! THANK YOU!!
THIS WAS FUN!!! Thanks for The Ethereal Birch Forest Party 🥰🍃
Thanks Sarah, This is a great project!!
I love this painting and definitely going to paint. Thank you for sharing! ❤️
Oh, the gold is an acrylic, that's why you can paint on cloth with it. Back in the 90's I used to paint with acrylics like they were watercolors. Watered them down a lot. You have to mix in a special medium to the paint so it will stay in the fabric. I did a lampshade for my daughter and a sweatshirt. She was about 6.
Loving this one! Thank you!
This was fun. I really love your tutorials Sarah. You are easy to listen to and follow . Your oath is important and passion for just doing art your way is wonderful. Don't change!
I've painted birch similarly, and love the tape trick. When learning how to paint birch, the art instructor told us that the black markings above the horizon line should be shaped more like a rainbow and below the horizon line, more like a smile. Just an interesting observation; not a critique :)
LOVED THIS! My ONLY minor critique was the lack of tape in the box. That is a needed supply not listed on the supply list.
We got tape in one of the prior boxes.
@Leslie Galloway that's great for those who got that prior box but I did not.
I love a good watercolor diy 😊
I cut up Xmas cards and use them for gift tags.
This is the most fun project! I did it as you directed and also as a card. Now I am working on it with a cartoon theme for my son. I'll share on social media so you Llamas can see it!
but if you want to catch the the true essence of trees, first read the short story ' the willows ' by Charles Blackburn , only piece I have reread three times...you will never look at trees in the same way! I agree with you about not being so protective of your work - i personally to do a lot of rubbing and scrubbing - sometimes you have to break through in sheer frustration...
How do you get the edge tapes (not the trees) straight?
Hi Sara and her hubby. 👋🖐🖖 (that last is hebrew for Hope - did you know Spock was Jewish?). I am attempting to do this painting along with you. So far so good. I see what you mean about the bleeding under the taps. oi! but I'll fix it in the end. I'm waiting for it to dry before removing the tape. and starting the REAL painting. lol This is such a beautiful painting. I L O V E birch trees too. You can see all kinds of character in them (as an artist). like my bathroom floor (fake marble - vinyl lol).
Ok Why does the paper come off with the tape no matter how carefully I pull it off? yes, I let it cool for a while.?????
Also, what kind of tape are you using?
Sarah is using Holbein Soft Tape. Over the year she has tried many different tapes, and Holbein Soft Tape is the only tape that she can trust to not rip her paper. We also recommend waiting 24 hrs before removing the tape from your painting as well as when you tape down your paper tape the sides down and then the top & bottom, and then remove the tape in the order that you taped it. We learned that handy trick from Kolbie Blume.
I really like your work and I need to know what is your water Color brand name?
We use our in-house liquid watercolors, Dandelion Paint Co. You can check them out here: www.letsmakeart.com/products/dandelion-paint-co-15ml-watercolors
Make it a game. How many years can you send the same Christmas cards without people noticing 😂🎉
Yes!!
What kind of tape are you using here? What kind of paper?
We use Holbein Soft Tape & our Let's Make Art watercolor paper. You can find them both at our site letsmakeart.com.
