Great video, but I think this is very much an apples vs oranges comparison. Vancouver, for all intents and purposes, is a suburb of Portland, so you really have to compare it with Seattle Suburbs like Bellevue to get a real "apples to apples" comparison. I lived in the Couve back in the '80s, and one of my biggest complaints was that all the good jobs were south of the Columbia, but it was still a great place to live and raise a family.

Seattle is getting hotter summers and colder winters as well. I've lived outside of Seattle for almost 24 years and I think Vancouver Portland area is a better place to live IMO. No place is perfect but the beauty of SW Washington with the Columbia River is just gorgeous. Love that you can be in the mountains or on the coast in an hour and a half in either direction. The amount of beautiful trails and parks just in the Vancouver area is just amazing!!! FYI... I will never go to Pioneer Square. It's gotten way more sketchy over the years. So sad because it's a cool spot with historic buildings.

My husband grew up on the Eastside in Seattle and we debate which area is more beautiful all the time :) He thinks the lakes, Puget Sound, Rainier give Seattle an advantage - but I totally agree with you, I think SW Washington is more beautiful. You just can't beat the Gorge & Mt Hood for the views! Unfortunately, lots of areas of Portland are now too sketchy to explore. Portland used to be so cool.
