Set your drag man, that'll help with missing fish. Ive been fishing cherokee for about 27 years, and its my favorite place on earth. We try to go about 6-7 times a year!
yes i had it a little loose that day but it was ultra light rod and reel and I usually use 6 or 4 lb test and you would not believe how many break off from a hook up
Great job! I've gone there every year between May to June for the past two years. About to leave for number three this weekend coming up. Curious if you might share your recipe. I'm planning on using inline spinners in red or orange with a fly type hook on a single hook and maybe my Joe's fly spinner in red i caught alot on last year. There's an old guy who's there every time I've gone and i usually try to mimic what he's using at the time since he is usually the one catching the most. The first year it was a pink power bait worm then last year it was an orange version for some reason since i was using the same pink worms as the year before and not really getting any bites until i changed up and then i limited out finally. I may also try using a 1/64 chartreuse crappie jig with a Berkeley power bait nymph instead of a worm since I'm planning on using them in an orange, Smokey orange and pink/yellow colors on a hook instead of the worm since I've researched a bit more on rainbow trout in May and it seems that they supposedly like to eat the nymphs so we'll see how they do and if i may have to switch back to a worm style. Got a week of fishing to experiment so I'll see what they like best.
Cool video. Looks like that bait of yours is the way to go. I fished the ponds last November and got a few, but nothing like you did. It was my first time trout fishing so I had no clue of what I was doing. Going back for sure late this year when the crowds are gone. Subscribed and looking forward to more videos.
When you go back try on days they stocked for sure powerbait and 6 pound mono line is what I've had best results on. starting out Cherokee is a fun but aggravating place till you get the hang of it. wax worms kill it in the summer months at the ponds as well but thank you for the support hope to see you at the ponds one day.
@@pughtopia1 I know I was there Wednesday didn't get a bite after watching all kinds of videos me and my brother go there and couldn't catch a damn thing.

I'm not an expert but your drag is putting a twist in your line when you reel and the drag pulls out.

love the vid, late at watching it but keep it up
I was able to catch 12 trout and 2 tags during the tournament. Thanks for all your advice!

May till October will be crowds there.
I spend a lot of time there, I usually fish Raven, Soco or Bunches creek. When I bring a grand child they usually fish the other end of that pond
I like to fish the rivers and creeks of Cherokee as well the ponds are fun from time though especially when water levels are high.
@@tinesandfinsoutdoors2671 going first week of April first trip of the year.
Hope to see you there.
All I can say is that I wish I was there with you
good video lets see a catch and cook
Next time, try the pink worm! They hell hate it!! We live about 3 miles from there and go about once a month.
Yes sir the pinks work great during the early spring the greens do good too . I used the pink during the tournament in the river and slayed them.
Do they stock the pond?
@@Xwogvu every Thursday
Ive never seen someone miss so many fish and it isnt even close
A longer shank hook, you won't miss them
Ez fishing in Cherokee especially if you have your crack bait. Limit within a few minutes everytime.
Please set your drag. That's why you're missing fish.
i had it loose that day to using ultra light with 4 pound test i usually fish tighter drag but i break a lot off with the 4 pound
Sub'd and 👍, thanks for sharing
I ha e went using 2 lb. In the ponds
They got me paying 4 bucks a gallon for gas 37 bucks for IMR 4831 so you know I don't mind over 5 hour trip to trout fish
Yes sir finding reloading powder is a pain right now so is large rifle primers. If I could find my imr 4064 I would buy an 8 pound keg of it
@@tinesandfinsoutdoors2671 couldn't find any 4064 but trading some fmj for win 760 closest I can find
