I don't think Ashley messed up THAT much! I mean, sure, there's the now infamous "wolf with a beak", and the poisonous mushroom, but overall the events are the same as Matt's original story! It's just, Ashley is kinda shy and uncomfortable under pressure it seems, and it shows in the way she tells the story! That's why it feels like she's a mess! But truly it's not so bad! :)
What got immediately lost was that Pumat and the wolf fought all day, and then Pumat had his stew with a "lupine" flavor...ie, he killed and ate the wolf.

Also, I like how the mythos somehow morphed itself into a beaked hunter wolf that traverses around fungi that tastes like... Well, wolf. Combine that to Sam's story, and you could have a cool new adventure hook with a werewolf theme!

I think one on my favorite parts about this game was how long they kept the "lupine flavor" part, but because of how quickly they missed the part where Pumat killed the wolf in self-defense, the ending basically went from "wolf and mushroom stew" to "gourmet mushrooms that may or may not have lycanthropic properties." My other favorite, of course, is how the dialog mix-up made the wolf go from being this great, ferocious feral beast to some chill hunter-wolf dude who may or may not be a drug dealer

It's also a psychological behavior where we are able to remember the beginning and ending of a long list/summary and not the middle. So I think that's why "lupine" was very prominent

I mean, I never imagined Pumat as aggresive in the story before so I see why it was so quickly and easily omitted, i could 100% see Pumat talk to the wolf in that amazing voice and the wolf be like "okay, we chill. Have some mushrooms"
The start: Pumat has a mighty battle with wilgorth (wildred?) the lonely wolf and makes mushroom stew with wolf bacon. The end: Pumat meets a wolf who is a hunter in disguise who pranks him by making him eat wolf pee mushrooms.
I love that Matt told a kinda cool, atmospheric story, Ashley listened to it, promptly forgot 70% and improvised a lot and Taliesin heard that and was like 'nah, that's not a Matt story, let's see how Matt would say these things' and tried his best to wrestle what he had back into a coherent story. Also the fact that the wolf gained a beak until Sam decided to just omit that.... and any sort of serious conflict. It was still kinda close.... and hilarios!

i find their different styles of telling the "same" story interesting Matt: Flowery speech, this, that, and the other thing Ashley: So yeah, this happened Taliesin: Dark, cold, MYSTERIOUS night Marisha: Hunter wolf, ooo lupine flavor whatever that means Sam: So this is what Marisha said, this was very important. (instantly butchers everything) adds twist at the end Laura: So this happened, and then this happened, and then this happened. Lupine flavor? Travis: tries to add structure, but not to the point of flowery speech. Only one that was really confused with why the wolf just left? Liam: Adds mysterious voice, the wolf gave them the mushrooms that were wolf flavor (reason that it was lupine)
The next one should be slightly longer and in the opposite order. Would love to see Liam come up with the story and end with Matt's interpretation of Ashley's telling.

That part where Laura had a split second panic attack and stuttered was pretty adorable. Just the way she talks and tells stories, her kid will be lucky.
@@liamifortner4323 Actually yes at the time. This was released during the pandemic (around c2 ep99), whereas Laura had Ronin around c2 ep 26 (a while before the pandemic).
Ashley "Ball Dropper" Johnson, making this a real interesting watch. Also, I gotta say, as much as I miss my regularly scheduled CR, the fact that they're now forced to come up with weird creative stuff like this makes up for it. They're a cast that works well together, no matter the material they have to work with. They don't need to be playing a game for it to be fun.
I like how Ashley dropped the fact it was winter, or that the wolf talked, and they somehow came back later. Ashley's story is probably the furthest from Matt's even though she's the only one who heard it directly.
I love that even tho they can hardly remember the story, they're 110% committed to the voices (understandably) lol so it's really dramatic but totally confused. Fantastic.

All of Liams night are scary.
I think one on my favorite parts about this game was how long they kept the "lupine flavor" part, but because of how quickly they missed the part where Pumat killed the wolf in self-defense, the ending basically went from "wolf and mushroom stew" to "gourmet mushrooms that may or may not have lycanthropic properties."
My other favorite, of course, is how the dialog mix-up made the wolf go from being this great, ferocious feral beast to some chill hunter-wolf dude who may or may not be a drug dealer

It's also a psychological behavior where we are able to remember the beginning and ending of a long list/summary and not the middle. So I think that's why "lupine" was very prominent
It's too bad the wolf's beak got dropped, I was kinda hoping the beaked wolf-hunter would keep shapeshifting 😆

I mean, I never imagined Pumat as aggresive in the story before so I see why it was so quickly and easily omitted, i could 100% see Pumat talk to the wolf in that amazing voice and the wolf be like "okay, we chill. Have some mushrooms"

I love that Matt told a kinda cool, atmospheric story, Ashley listened to it, promptly forgot 70% and improvised a lot and Taliesin heard that and was like 'nah, that's not a Matt story, let's see how Matt would say these things' and tried his best to wrestle what he had back into a coherent story.
Also the fact that the wolf gained a beak until Sam decided to just omit that.... and any sort of serious conflict.

Ashley "Ball Dropper" Johnson, making this a real interesting watch.
Also, I gotta say, as much as I miss my regularly scheduled CR, the fact that they're now forced to come up with weird creative stuff like this makes up for it. They're a cast that works well together, no matter the material they have to work with. They don't need to be playing a game for it to be fun.
I like how Ashley dropped the fact it was winter, or that the wolf talked, and they somehow came back later. Ashley's story is probably the furthest from Matt's even though she's the only one who heard it directly.
I love that even tho they can hardly remember the story, they're 110% committed to the voices (understandably) lol so it's really dramatic but totally confused. Fantastic.
I love how you can tell that Liam and Sam tell stories to their kids.
Same with Laura. Totally sounded like she was telling a story to a child
