Viggo Mortensen's character in the movie "Eastern Promises" uses these; the actual chetki were gifted to him by a Russian prisoner who made it out of lighters.
I learned how to string my chetki from your vids and now I am very comfortable with stringing my own sets. Aroundsquare has killer chetki and they are well worth the price. Very high quality beads and tiles.

Not gonna lie they are awesome just out of my price range least for now but I will have one, 1 day haha may try to make my own of course it will not be as nice but still fun to toy around with if you will. I do not Comment often but thank you for all the videos you make. Very enjoyable and I now find myself enjoying making things which I have not in so many years.

For sure, there are definitely some bali techniques that cross over to these chetki.
This was interesting. Not sure why it was recommended to me but I have my father's still and this reminded me of when I'd try them as a child. He made his out of old cigarette lighters melted. They are very cool and yes, they are not cheap by any means. But you can always see them as a piece of jewelry as well as it's wearable. Perhaps something you can save up for one day. In the meantime I have a DIY paracord version here: ruclips.net/video/CfzAk-yX558/видео.html

wonder if one can make wooded ones
I have some wooden sets made by friends and also some sold commercially. The challenge is that wood becomes brittle at the small size of these type of beads, but it’s also not very heavy, so you can get away with chunkier designs. Definitely give it a try!

I didn't like this one so much. You're selling a Russian begleri. It's not a project or some new idea or how to make it. Other, who are Russian, may feel nostalgic and buy one. It's not your usual fascinating knot weaving demo.
It is based off of a Russian style of rosary. But what is highlighted in the video was designed and made in Canada.
I own many of them. Super fun to mess around with.
I know this Begleri very well... family is Eastern European...we played with a similar design of Plastic when we were kids.
