Just bought this saw yesterday on sale for $219 with charger and battery and very impressed after falling 3 trees today. I will trade the inconvenience of these batteries for the inconvenience of mixing gas and having to fill a saw with gas when it runs out any day. After 1 days use I say 5 stars. Good video. Thanks
Ego makes great yard tools, after to moving to TN I did get a 16" gas Ryobi saw that works well and recently as a Lowe's employee we had the 650cfm blower with 5ah battery and charger for like $199 plus my employee discount and I had a $25 gift card from last years father's day so i was out the door at $170 with it. If I were to get a battery saw it would definitely be Ego but since I have my new gasser I'm good with it for now
Just bought this saw last week. Great video thanks. Got tired of trying to start and maintain my gas saw. I'll probably be purchasing a spare battery for it soon as I always have one on charge for all my other cordless tools.
My siblings and I got an Ego chainsaw for my Dad because he’s getting older and can’t pull start his Stihl like he used to. He was skeptical at first but now he loves it.
I wouldn’t purchase another battery. Mine will cut all day east on one charge. That’s doing what he did here 10 times east. Another battery would die from lack of use before you used the first one up
Turns out I liked the saw so much that I had gone out and purchased the leaf blower. That came with a 5ah battery so now I have a spare for both. Probably a weed trimmer is next on the list. LOL
Great stuff, been looking to get one of these and I think the 16" is going to fill my needs. Thanks for the on-point review, the ones will filler and fluff are so damn aggravating.
Thinking of switching to this saw from the Husky that, while pretty good overall, has needed three throttle cables, three air cleaners, has a leaky gas tank when completely full, has needed a couple of shop visits over the years, and fuel I need to buy oil for. I already own an Ego item, so I'm one battery ahead. Oh, and I loved your ending! 😆
I love ego stuff! I have a couple items . I also think this was a fantastic review! Thank you for what I feel was your honest opinion. I have a similar situation as you... I am not a lumberjack, I don't wanna be... but I do have a realistic need to be able to conveniently maintain my property without having to hire a pro... which is what I'd do if I needed to.... but my wife and I ( like yourself) enjoy having sweat equity. I'm going to subscribe.... love the outtakes!
Any reports of battery fires? I just got mine yesterday and am impressed 👍 I was surprised at the chain quality actually. I was expecting...well...cheaper quality of some sort. I'm happy the charger is a 2-prong plug-in because I can use the outlet on my pickup truck 👍
I bought my first chainsaw ever and it is a 16 inch EGO. It is great and I Am very pleased (and amazed) with the performance. I have been cleaning up some downed Post Oak trees and the EGO cuts like a knife through butter..
Just fyi I bought this chainsaw yesterday and the battery constantly overheated on just a yukka stump. I could get one of these nice cuts you’re doing maybe half way and it would be done overheated again and again half hour job took me nearly 3 hours
Thanks, this really helped. I thought it was funny though when you took points off for the battery, when you are reviewing a battery chainsaw. It can't get rid of the battery.
Thanks. I had to watch someone else’s video to hear what it sounds like, but good review tho. I’m getting the 18” & have 2 batteries. I have a push mower, & I’m in love with the weed trimmer. It’s 5*. It’s the best weedeater I’ve ever used.
Bought an EGO mower in 2017 and was stressed to leave gas. The next month all my tools were replaced with EGO. All batteries still going strong. Medium use out of them in terms of amount used. But when I use them it's heavy usage. *IF* EGO keeps up the good products they have a fan for life. Most companies can't hold on.
The little ego’s are great for the average home owner, I bought the 16 inch 40cc equivalent saw kit, and cut up a huge maple that came down in a storm, the saw processed the tree with zero issue.
I picked up one of these for a crazy sale price, might have been an error on their website. I don’t even have any trees lmao and I live in town 😂. No regrets though ego gear is awesome
I was reading a review where some guys had wished they got the 18inch instead .. The 18inch having a 5 AH Battery and the 16inch having a 2.5 AH batt. ,,but i got to Lowes today and the 16inch was $100 cheaper , and im just doing some light duty work so i got the 16inch
Thanks for the honest review, that looks like quite an impressive saw. After the FL hurricanes, I used my trusty Husqvarna 345XP to cut about 100 trees, from fairly small to quite large. I'd still be working on the project if I had to wait for a battery to charge. I never expected to do that much chainsaw work, but that's how it went.
So for the people that don't know much about chainsaws which i assume is the largest demographic of this, I bet they'd appreciate talking a little on the maintenance this requires. For instance, you mention the oil reservoir but didn't say how or when to use it. Did it come with oil? If not, what oil do to suggest? And do we need to apply any directly to the chain or do we just fill the reservoir?
I've got a question: I see you cutting a large diameter tree with the Ego saw and doesn't it overheat? I have had some problems with overheating batterypowered chainsaws in the past, up to bursting into flames on. I do have to say that those were chainsaws on the cheaper (budget) side of the market. Is overheating a problem of the cheaper saws or are you facing the same problem?
This saw is great for cutting down trees if you understand the care of chainsaw……….Don’t let your chainsaw cut into the ground, hitting rocks, metal or concrete will dull your blade……….Don’t loan your chainsaw to anyone 😂❤
Good video - would have liked to see a few real time cuts to see how smooth it is (I have a Stihl for larger work, but considering one of these for little stuff). That said - dude, if you don't want to wear chaps, that's one thing - but for gawd's sake... throw on a pair of safety glasses at least!!
This saw is over kill for little stuff. That tree he did is a good test but it’s the best battery saw I have ever used. Batteries are expensive but well worth the price
What do you mean inconvenience? If you have Ego equipment you probably have more than enough batteries. In worst case one or two are charging while you cutting. Replace battery have a sip of water and continue. So what are you moaning about?
I'm putting this over and over with hopes of getting EGO to be more than just a supplier. We have the complete line of EGO everything except the riding mower. The units are great.......Unfortunately the SERVICE SUCKS. My 2 year old saw has been in the repair shop for over 3 months. 3 MONTHS and they have yet to check it. Even spoke with the repair tech. If you are thinking of purchasing anything EGO look up their Customer Service Number give it a call and see how important your call really is. I have waited over an hour and more before getting someone to answer. More times than not just pushed the return my call option....still waiting. Over the last 3 months I've been told they were going to escalate the problem to higher level, been told someone would call me. At 10 weeks was told the saw would be replaced. NO SERVICE-NO REPAIR-NO MORE EGO EGO = The Trifecta of BS.
I have a lot of their equipment and am generally pleased with the performance. What I am not at all pleased with is their pathetic customer service. That alone nullifies any further purchases from me.
Do yourself a favor and don't run your ego batteries in this saw. I ruined a 7.5 AH battery of mine which costs 350 new. A light duty Stihl saw costs 200 bux.
Absolute junk. Sure it cuts fine. Just bought one. Have a 10 inch poplar. Not a big tree. On two charges which took over an hour i dont ha e it cut up. 3rd time i went to charge it went into overheat mode and now wont charge at all. Useless
Works good, not great, for dry dead felled trees up to 10 inches. Fails on wet or live trees. Cannot cut down live hardwoods. Sharp blade and oiled. Terrible at horizontal cuts. Chain keeps coming off. Oil channels get fouled quickly, requiring disassembly to clean. overheats rapidly. Would not recommend except for small tree firewood harvesting. Very light duty. Expensive chains and bar. Not impressed for cost. Back to the axe and hand saw.
I have so many ego products (lawnmower, trimmer, snowblower, weed-wacker) that I'm never at a loss for batteries). Thanks for the demo.
For pros you missed "Not waking up the whole neighborhood when you want to cut early" :P
That's a Con, I want my neighbors to hear me
Bro finally someone cut instead of talk saw is sick this saw will be perfect for trimming good job dude
Just bought this saw yesterday on sale for $219 with charger and battery and very impressed after falling 3 trees today. Thank you! Just bought my Ego-16inch Chainsaw after renting a Makita and using for 4-6 hours, then reading Consumer Reports for pros/cons.
Now watching this just because seeing how you change blade tension is more helpful to me than reading the booklet! Thanks again.

Dude I’m so glad I found your review when I was looking for one. Good info and sense of humor on point. Shake and bake baby.
This is absolutely the funniest video I have seen in a long time. When she says 4.5 stars I lost it. 😂😂
I'm looking at it too as well as the echo DCS5000 but with Canadian Tire you can try it for 90days no issue. Return it and exchange
Just bought this saw last week. Great video thanks. Got tired of trying to start and maintain my gas saw. I'll probably be purchasing a spare battery for it soon as I always have one on charge for all my other cordless tools.
Two batteries and this thing is unstoppable! Great choice.
My siblings and I got an Ego chainsaw for my Dad because he’s getting older and can’t pull start his Stihl like he used to. He was skeptical at first but now he loves it.

Great stuff, been looking to get one of these and I think the 16" is going to fill my needs. Thanks for the on-point review, the ones will filler and fluff are so damn aggravating.
That is a terrific demo. 16" electric saw on a large tree.
Thinking of switching to this saw from the Husky that, while pretty good overall, has needed three throttle cables, three air cleaners, has a leaky gas tank when completely full, has needed a couple of shop visits over the years, and fuel I need to buy oil for. Saw the 16" on sale for 250 today at Lowe's. My husqvarna is total crap.
BEST REVIEW I HAVE EVER SEEN ON RUclips THANK U IM AT LOEWS WITH THE BOX IN MY POSSESSION AS I TYPE THIS
Nobody cares

Does it overheat and stop?
How to tighten when the chain getting loose . I just bought the ego saw 18 inches
Wow...You did a really awesome review. The logs you were cutting are a bit large for it, but it sure was a good test... thanks. Subscribed.
Thanks Brad Freeze! Seems like an incredible machine. Another plus: less oil and gas to mess with. Neat and tidy.
Shouldn't safety glasses be worn using a chainsaw?
I was wanting to see it in action. Why speed up the entire clip.. something we shouldt see?
Any reports of battery fires?
I just got mine yesterday and am impressed 👍

So having a battery chainsaw means you don't need PPE?
Just fyi I bought this chainsaw yesterday and the battery constantly overheated on just a yukka stump. I could get one of these nice cuts you’re doing maybe half way and it would be done overheated again and again half hour job took me nearly 3 hours
Nice work
Sold me.
You forgot to mention your best front delt workout go-to
Great video, I also liked the reference at the end, shake and bake!
Thanks, this really helped. I thought it was funny though when you took points off for the battery, when you are reviewing a battery chainsaw. It can't get rid of the battery.
Always wear eye protection!
So how long does the battery actually last on one charge?
Thanks. I had to watch someone else’s video to hear what it sounds like, but good review tho. I’m getting the 18” & have 2 batteries. I have a push mower, & I’m in love with the weed trimmer. It’s 5*. It’s the best weedeater I’ve ever used.

Excellent video! I have one of these chain saws . Remarkable!
I noticed the Milwaukee battery charger, what made you choose this over the M18 chainsaw?
Is that the chain it came with? Someone mentioned there’s a better one.. I just don’t remember the type
Just bought one of these and it works great!!! Thanks for the video. One question, though: where are your safety glasses?!
The little ego’s are great for the average home owner, I bought the 16 inch 40cc equivalent saw kit, and cut up a huge maple that came down in a storm, the saw processed the tree with zero issue.
Leak oil?
Hows the saw holding up?
Does this saw vibrate at the handles?
What brand of chain do you use? I bought an Oregon brand chain, and it didn't fit.
We're a Stihl family. But recently my dad bought an EGO... The damn thing is pretty impressive lol
Hah this was quite a nice ands refreshing video among all the more boring review videos out there. Keep up the great work.
I picked up one of these for a crazy sale price, might have been an error on their website. I don’t even have any trees lmao and I live in town 😂. No regrets though ego gear is awesome
😂😂
how much did u pay?
@@GPSniper1 $175 aud. Regular price is $350 in Australia.
Ego or 80v green works
I was reading a review where some guys had wished they got the 18inch instead ..

Is it the cs1613 chain saw

What kinda bar oil you find works best?
How come I can't cut the stump with it lol
Can a smaller bar size be installed on this EGO chainsaw? A 12" maybe?
Absolutely.
Why would you want a smaller bar? I could understand for a trail chainsaw when wheeling but I see no other advantage. Just curious
Great video brother...just might go purchase that bad boy!
Thank you. About to buy one, my husqvarna has too much problem.
Nice job on the video. Will be getting one tonight!
Glasses?
Could you block that whole tree with two batteries
I've got a question: I see you cutting a large diameter tree with the Ego saw and doesn't it overheat? This saw us no problem at all. It’s barely warm to the touch.
@@bradleyfreeze yeah I just started using this saw and I was surprised at how cool it stayed. Even the battery doesnt get hot like many other tools
This saw is great for cutting down trees if you understand the care of chainsaw……….Don’t let your chainsaw cut into the ground, hitting rocks, metal or concrete will dull your blade……….Don’t loan your chainsaw to anyone 😂❤
This is a time lapse over two days. It would take 6 charges to cut up this tree
I give this video a four star review till your wife spoke up, now it's 4.79.
cut the freakin music...I cant hear how quiet the damn saw is
Eye protection next time?
Looks like you could have used the 20”
Very good product.❤ Buy extra battery 5.0 Ah or 7,5 Ah…… Best battery.
YEP THOSE STRUGGLES MADE MY MIND UP. YO WEAAK
I needed to know how loud it is. It's ok I watched another video.
NO REGERTS!
Literally didn't cover the only thing I wanted to know... the noise level.
Awesome video

Having 2 batteries is perfect. Let one charge while the other drains.
Just get 2 batters, charge one while working on the other
What do you mean inconvenience? If you have Ego equipment you probably have more than enough batteries. In worst case one or two are charging while you cutting. Replace battery have a sip of water and continue. So what are you moaning about?
You could have shown at least one full cut in real time.

Wear safety glasses and gloves dude. 🙈
Why?
Just picked mine up from Facebook Market place for 160$ with the charger+ 5 amp battery and a new chain and a gallon of oil
Your wife is always right, huh!! :-) Nice review, thanks.
I just got one and like it compared to tempermental gas ryobi
Battery electric chainsaws (natteries) are gradually becoming useful... especially when it comes to climbing, yard work and construction.
I have a lot of their equipment and am generally pleased with the performance. What I am not at all pleased with is their pathetic customer service. That alone nullifies any further purchases from me.

no regerrrts
just have extra batteries

Your woman cuts you and corrects you a lot.
This video was sponsored by Ego lol
God damn that woman is annoying. Let the guy give a freaking review lol
Fast motion is horrible. That’s why I don’t even pay attention to it.
commentary from 2nd person annoying!

First 5 seconds of the video made me click off....
I have the lawnmower, came with 2 of the bigs....1/4 acre per battery
Haha. Love the way your girl sets you straight!
