i could really say how badass this director is. working with those actors isn't a joke. i think it's hard to direct a scene where plenty of actors should be included. and how they should cooperate with each other. omg
+dadatobe I think the two realms both have their own merits. Battle Royal is strictly a shoot-em-up book/film with important political/social undercurrents while the Hunger Games is a discrete message to the youth that children should have no part in any adults actions that involve strife.
There's a difference between The Hunger Games and Battle Royale. The Tributes receive training and go into battle in a simulated battlefield, but the Shiroiwa Junior High Class B students just get tossed out into the island with their weapons and they have to figure out how to use them on their own. The Tributes are equipped fairly with their weapons, but the Class B students are unfairly equipped, some are just harmless camping equipment, some simply deadly weapons.
I have this DVD with the movie and the behind the scenes and I love it. I think the director was very demanding indeed, but only because he needed this movie to be done *right*. Stanley Kubrick was also very demanding when they made The Shining, and it shows. I think all the actors involved were very grateful afterwards that he did have these demands because it pushed them to do their absolute best.
13:26 Real translation: Director: "Hey you there! Stop whispering!" You (Kitano) stop right around here. Director: *to Kitano* (Take the chalk) and throw it really hard! Kitano: It that really okay? Director: OF COURSE! That is all she (actress about to be hit) is here for!
A lot of scenes for movies are filmed out of sequence so their death scene might not necessarily be the last thing they shoot but actors generally don't stick around after their last scenes.
You know the publisher upon reading the first final draft of The Hunger Games and went to the author and went "Erm, have you read Battle Royale by any chance?" and the author "What's Battle Royale?" XD (Actually, I am not making this up, it was something the publisher actually said and reported to a magazine here in the UK and that's why Battle Royale was re-released with a quote saying something along the lines The Hunger Games, there was Battle Royale...and it was *ahem* inspired by Battle Royale. ")
"The more people you kill the more important you are in this film"
HAHAHAHA I LOVE YOU KIRIYAMA!

It's a shame Kinji died during Battle Royale II's production. I can't imagine the grief the actors and crew felt… :(
HermaphroGynandro he was only able to film one scene before he passed away
The random shots of goats crack me up
+Otaku Tyler Those goats seemed completely stunned of all the noise humans did there, lmao
the director cracks me the way he be yelling at the cast lmao
Even after watching BR,I don't see that many similarities between BR and THG... still this one's better. ♡♥
BR is way better than THG, period.

Yeah those two movies are too different to compare, being in a similar setting isn't really enough to make them even come close to each other.
My sister is too obsessed with THG
@@ryukomatoi592 I use to be when we were going over dystopia in language arts
I like THG because of Jennifer Lawrence…
It's so weird seeing Kiriyama actually speak for once.
my favorite movie of all time

i actually want the full story behind this dude
The director is right, kiriyama DID steal the spotlight
Kiriyama. :)
I used to love THG so much but compared to this, THG looks so childish and like a mock to this movie seriously.
Wow this director is hardcore XD he is so aggressive i love it
oh how I wish kiriyama was the main character! it would've been so interesting .
hansosolo I would’ve loved to see it!

@simonandfaerk Most Asian country sings happy birthday in english . A few country only sings happy birthday in their mother tongue language .
hey, i use the same site, but this is worth getting the dvd.
Could you translate that hilarious moment, at 4:07 when Tatsuya Fujiwara lightly taps that other guy on his shoulder, and he gets pissed off?
probably a "what did i tell you" type of line...almost hit aki
4:31 Can someone tell me if this scene appeared in the movie is that I don't remember this scene
Did the actors stay during the whole filming process or did they leave home after their characters died?
A lot of scenes for movies are filmed out of sequence so their death scene might not necessarily be the last thing they shoot but actors generally don't stick around after their last scenes.
The translator making the English subtitles falls asleep a lot.
2:32 She is in the beginning of 1st the BR right? Blood all over her clothes and smiling like that makes her looks so scary af.
Masanobu Ando is THE freaking sh*t in this film....*drrroooolls*
Ahh totally!
The shot of that goat is so random 😂 (9:01)
lol omg I love the director xD
I... have no idea. They're right there on the screen.
4:39 she finally speaks!😲

lets be honest, hunger game is bullshit compare to this Japanese master piece
