Howdy Rahdo. Just wanted to thank you for your reviews. I've been watching for the last year; since I got back into board gaming after a long hiatus. We've taken you up on a number of your selections to include Splendor, Battle Line, Biblios, Elysium and held off on Five Tribes (the slavery issue). Keep them coming.
I LOVE the shelf runthroughs...although I did get a bit dizzy with all those games :) Estoril 1942 looks like something I'd be interested in...although I have to balance that with Klenko's Covert!
Rahdo, I enjoyed seeing all the games on your shelf besides just those that you've kept this year... and remembered all the run-through videos I've watched over the years of those games (and subsiquently bought!). Keep up the good work! BTW, how do you typically sell off the games that you get rid of?
Would you be able to demo Too many bones or Masmorra: Dungeons of Arcadia that's on KS, hopefully before they end? Those are both dice mechnism with rpg elements, it's also solo/coop and 5/solo/coop games respectively
Did I spot the Gallerist there? Wasn't that from the past year? That's certainly one of many of my shelf that's still waiting for its first play - it's so much quicker and easier to buy games than to schedule gaming nights!
Understandable, you must be aware of some of these games long before they are released (even doing run throughs and/or con previews before release), so it must be difficult not to think they've been around for years. I really have no idea how you keep track of it all!
please please please do a run through of Samara!! I can't find one in English and I too backed it.. but having some issues trying to play it, let alone teach it!
+bartattack there's not quite enough room for a non-legacy copy of pandemic along with everything else, but that's okay because pandemic legacy replaces regular legacy anyway :)
I've played and love the base game of Trickerion and I'm so excited to play the full game. Is it really heavier than the What's Your Game games on the same shelf, specifically Madeira and Vinhos? Oh.. just hit resume and I think I got my answer. Ha!
Do you have to read all the rules again if you want to play a game a second time. Or is there a system I do not know yet. I try to write down summaries of the rules but it is really time consuming.
+Alexander Werz whenever i replay a game, i generally have to re-skim the rules... i often watch a few minutes of my runthroughs as well (at 2x speed) to jog my memory :)
I'm going to guess the games which are not on gone.rahdo.com got to go before getting a chance to play, except for these 3 for which i'd be curious to hear why they went: - Star Wars: Attack of the Clones - Star Wars: The Queen's Gambit - Thunderstone I'm guessing the first 2 had to go because of monetary constraints - but what about Thunderstone? Which was the game that took its/their place? The other ones are: - African Park - Bremerhaven - Castelli - Castle: Infighting & Intrigue at the King's Court - Dahschur - Drachen Schatten - Dragonscroll - Gold Ahoy! - Linwood - Renaissance Man - Rum & Pirates - Taschkent - Tinners' Trail Last but not least, I believe Mottainai, Puerto Diablo and the neat Escape Zombie City expansion also are new, but are not on the list of new games(though I don't know if you expect to list expansions). Since I'm watching all collection videos back-to-back, I have an additional question. Epic Resort in 2014) and Super Motherload (in 2015) were already there, but are listed as additions. What's up with them? Are these new editions?
the 2 starwars games were again ones that i let go without every playing. i had wanted to try attack of the clones, but i'd had it for 3+ years and hadn't gotten it to the table (because of the daunting german-only version) and so i said goodbye because i figured i'd never get around to it. queens gambit, it was just crazy to hold on to considering how much it went for on the aftermarket. thunderstone i still have. i like it a lot, but am considering selling it because of limited shelf space. but i still have it for now. - African Park - Castelli - Drachen Schatten - Dragonscroll - Gold Ahoy! - Linwood - Renaissance Man - Tinners' Trail all of these i got rid of without playing them first... too many games! - Bremerhaven - Dahschur - Taschkent these i still have here, like thunderstone. on the for 4sale pile - Castle: Infighting & Intrigue at the King's Court this i got rid of because at the time, i knew of a reprint that was coming, but that reprint has since been cancelled :( so it's an odd case. i would have kept the game if not for that confusion. - Rum & Pirates this can be found on the [gone] list under its german name: Um Ru(h)m und Ehre -Fairyland I'm not sure what you mean that it's a duplicate?
For Fairyland, I mean it's marked as "added to the collection" on both the 2015 and 2016 collection updates. Or maybe 1 year before, I can't remember now. :-\
once or twice a year i try to organize huge game orders with others on the islands from philibertnet.com which has the cheapest shipping, and gives discounts for bigger $ orders. but most of the games i get i pick up in person at essen spiel and carry back :) customs fees aren't an issue if things are sent here from within the EU, but when sent from the US or elsewhere, yeah, that's a huge problem...
I'd like to see the face of the person at the airline desk when you come to register 55 kg of luggage. :-) Ah,nah -I guess you just ship them from the fare, so it's not even funny. ;)
+Marcy Kennedy those are sort of "in limbo"... i haven't played any of them, so i can't really comment on them. i've just had them for so long that I'm thinking they're likely never going to get played... they're in a closet right now. maybe someday i can find the time to get them to the table...
+rahdo With all the great games you have to play, I'd recommend leaving Dragonscroll in the closet until it finds a new owner. We couldn't make it through a full game because it was so luck dependent that we ended up too annoyed to continue.
So, you think Poseidon's Kingdom is... swell? I am pleasantly surprised that you enjoyed Bottlecap Vikings! My girlfriend and I gave it a go once, before switching to Patchwork, and we thought it felt a bit too obvious what the best choice was. Maybe it was just the particular roundel set up we had, but we were constantly taking the same spot and apologizing for crashing our ships together. I'll have to give this one another go, it is certainly fast enough to try again.
I really wish BoardGameGeek would come back up, so I can go see why you ditched your copy of Patchwork! (And others, but other than Viticulture I think I can guess why you have gotten rid of a lot of the games I would consider, or hope, to be "good".)
+Goya Solidar Well, sort of ... It makes a definitive pronunciation difference. But, it's not pronounced "g-n" ... it's more of a "n-y". Sin-YO-reh ... Breh-TUN-y(e)h ... upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1b/Fr-Bretagne.ogg
+Bruce Murphy tbh i've never given it a try... i've still got it, and really should give it a go, but i'm just so limited on shelf space. i got it for free in a math trade a long time ago..
+Bruce Murphy yup many of the games on that list are ones i plan to get rid of but haven't yet. and in the case of linwood, i don't have any reason to get rid of it other than shelf space, which hardly seems like a reason to list it on gone.rahdo.com
+rahdo Oh yeah, totally understand, it's going for such big bucks. Hence the reason I don't own it! Add it on the next Kickstarter as a stretch goal to re-aquire it :)
I generally play with my girlfriend and thus use you as a good source of what plays well two players with a significant other. I recently fell in love with Manhattan Project and played an amazing 2 player game of it. Any reason why you culled this or why I do not want to add it to my longevity collection for my 1vs1 couples game?
Read through a good chunk of that, most aren't really shockers given your predilections (you really should play Elder Sign with the expansions though), but I am not really sure what you mean about the loan systems breaking Le Havre. I admit I have only played maybe 4-5 times, but I always treated loans as things to avoid unless the bank was available. (Or whatever the building is that knocks out 2 loans)
+TheGreatHamEl the fact that you can take an unlimited amount of loans and your 'interesting' never increases beyond 1 frank makes them really wonky in my eyes and upsets the balance considerably.
+rahdo I had to re-read the rules as we play differently (not my game), and we were apparently using an official variant that increases the loan amounts but it's on a per player basis. I don't know if it would help as much in two player. Inland Port wasn't any good either? That's too bad. Haven't tried it yet, but my gf is getting more and more into two player games. Was considering adding that to the list but might wait.
+TheGreatHamEl inland port is very cool. i held on to it for over a year i think hoping there would be news of an expansion to fix my only issue with it (non-variable setup) but it never came
Rahdo, do you and Jen actually have children? And if yes, is there a chance that they are part of any future videos? I like your channel and taste in board games a lot! Keep them coming (:
RE: TIME Stories - i'm really tired of hearing you complain about the lack of two player support. LOL @ 5:54 when talking about Fuse... "Jen and I have had a *blast*..." :-)
From what I've heard Star Wars Carcassonne is actually really good and has an interesting attacking mechanic for taking over various planets.
maybe a certain funding level on your KS could let you upgrade to a bigger place = more shelves/game table?
I LOVE the shelf runthroughs...although I did get a bit dizzy with all those games :) Estoril 1942 looks like something I'd be interested in...although I have to balance that with Klenko's Covert!

Keep up the good work! BTW, how do you typically sell off the games that you get rid of?
+Glen Just usually at essen or other conventions when i go to them :)
Rahdo, could you please do a run through / thoughts video on Bottlecap Vikings please?
it needs more thumbs on the request geeklist:
boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/item/4603085#item4603085
Would you be able to demo Too many bones or Masmorra: Dungeons of Arcadia that's on KS, hopefully before they end? Those are both dice mechnism with rpg elements, it's also solo/coop and 5/solo/coop games respectively
+George Lin nope, 'fraid not. i never heard from them about doing a runthrough. TMB does seem very interesting
Did I spot the Gallerist there? Wasn't that from the past year? That's certainly one of many of my shelf that's still waiting for its first play - it's so much quicker and easier to buy games than to schedule gaming nights!

+rahdo I believe My Happy Farm is also new. ;)
+Matthew White i've had that one for several years actually
+rahdo Oh, I don't remember it from the older videos. Must not have left me with much of an impression :)
please please please do a run through of Samara!! I can't find one in English and I too backed it.. but having some issues trying to play it, let alone teach it!
+JonaBullets it needs a lot more thumbs at requests.rahdo.com :)
Using the Pandemic Legacy box to store the non-legacy game and its expansions is a great idea!
+bartattack there's not quite enough room for a non-legacy copy of pandemic along with everything else, but that's okay because pandemic legacy replaces regular legacy anyway :)
Got rid of Le Havre? Really? Come on Rahdo!!!!! Its one of a kind. :) I think that Maltese heat is affecting your judgment!
Would you consider Roll Player a Dice worker game?
Is your box of Gallerist smaller than the usual one? I got the Kickstarter one.
+Torsten Stelling afaik it's the same size
+rahdo Ok, then it looks in the video a little smaller :) Thanks for the reply.
I've played and love the base game of Trickerion and I'm so excited to play the full game. Is it really heavier than the What's Your Game games on the same shelf, specifically Madeira and Vinhos? Oh.. just hit resume and I think I got my answer. Ha!

+Kenny Barrese it's back now :)
Hi Rahdo, do you think you'll get/review Raptor?
+avnj34 nope, unlikely
+rahdo how come? It's a highly praised 2 player game
+Trae Lenox jen and i don't like tactical skirmish games. it's got very clever game mechanisms, but it drives a game we wouldn't enjoy
I'm surprised to still see Sobek. We ultimately felt that the game played us instead of us having fun
Great video! Shakespeare is not Victorian though, he lived during the English Renaissance, which was about 200-300 years earlier ;)
+adastra0 d'oh!
How do you organize your games?
It's clearly not Alphabetically...so... By designer? By Publisher? Whatever fits wherever? All of the above?
+princeneumator a bit by publishe, where similar sizes appear, and all the felds are next to each other, but that's the extend of the org :)
Great collection. FYI, you don't pronounce the 'G' in words like Signorie and Bretagne.
+Goya Solidar Well, sort of ... It makes a definitive pronunciation difference. But, it's not pronounced "g-n" ... it's more of a "n-y".

+Rainer Ahlfors Yep. That's why in my country we use ñ and there's no ambiguity.
How do you play Codenames with 2?
+Ki Mansell just like it says in the rulebook. you can watch my runthrough to see, but it's pretty straightforward :)
+rahdo I'll check out your run through thanks.
is that the new print of shadowrift?! I didn't know it was out yet!
+Errol Wilde nope, you must be thinking of something else...
Where is the list of the games that are gone?
+Inner2000 in the show notes :)
I can't find your comment for passing on Linwood.
+Bruce Murphy tbh i've never given it a try... i've still got it, and really should give it a go, but i'm just so limited on shelf space. i got it for free in a math trade a long time ago..
+rahdo oh, I saw it in your culled list on this video.
+Bruce Murphy yup many of the games on that list are ones i plan to get rid of but haven't yet. and in the case of linwood, i don't have any reason to get rid of it other than shelf space, which hardly seems like a reason to list it on gone.rahdo.com
I'm totally sad for you that you had to let Keymarket go :(
+Iain Mabbott well i didn't have to... but i couldn't say not to how much $ I could get for it...
+rahdo Oh yeah, totally understand, it's going for such big bucks. Hence the reason I don't own it! Add it on the next Kickstarter as a stretch goal to re-aquire it :)
+Iain Mabbott I'm sad about Middle-Earth Quest, but I get Rahdo's complaint about it being a very long ( although exciting ) game
+rahdo I have to ask, is that yet another cheese-grating injury on your right hand... again?
+Christian Amey yup, it's a deadly apparatus, that cheese grater!
You got rid of Viticulture?
+Trae Lenox yup, you can see why at gone.rahdo.com :)
OMG, you got rid of Queen's Gambit? That game is such a keeper, even though they remade it.
I generally play with my girlfriend and thus use you as a good source of what plays well two players with a significant other. I recently fell in love with Manhattan Project and played an amazing 2 player game of it. Any reason why you culled this or why I do not want to add it to my longevity collection for my 1vs1 couples game?
+David Parrish reasons for all the culls can be found at gone.rahdo.com :)
I am very surprised you liked Catacombs and Apocolypse Chaos. Also surprised Le Havre and Viticulture are out.
+TheGreatHamEl you can always check gone.rahdo.com for reasons :)

gone.rahdo.com doesn't seem to work?
+Stormbreaker69 BGG seems to be down!
+Stormbreaker69 BGG is back up now :)
You remove Pandemic ????
+solamnique i talked about it in the video :)
Le Havre gone? Wow...
Rahdo, do you and Jen actually have children? And if yes, is there a chance that they are part of any future videos?
I like your channel and taste in board games a lot! Keep them coming (:
+Riftwolf They don't.
+Riftwolf Why do you think he has that many games :D!?
Viticulture gone? I thought you really liked that game?
+SendohSasuke check gone.rahdo.com :)
I think you got Java in Zommerspel 2015 Math Trade ^^, from me
+csukisz9523 YES! that's right :)
There's a HUGE blank space on that wall in the hall... about the size of a large Ikea bookshelf. Just sayin'...
if only there was an ikea in malta...
Hah! Fuse is a ... blast! ;)
*Gasp* top shelf game Le Havre got removed!!
+Straddllw Yeah, that's the one that made me double take.
RE: TIME Stories - i'm really tired of hearing you complain about the lack of two player support. +xibalba1875 feedback does not equal grief. If Richard manages to produce positive change towards a game using his clout it's a win/win for everyone.
+No Pun Included well said sir!
+xibalba1875 For a game like Time Stories where you have to play in multiple sessions to win, the 3-4 player requirement to play the game as it was intended is the hardest challenge in the game to overcome. I can't even get one friend to commit so I can't even play the bad version of the game. When you start talking about a game that takes longer than Risk to complete, the excuses of your friends can get pretty creative. Hence solo and 2-player variants are appreciated.
+xibalba1875 You said - "Not all games are made for all player counts and if the designers don't want to make two player rules than so be it"
As far as I can see the box says 2-4 players. If a designer does not want to invest time in the 2 player level then just put 3-X on the box and have done with it
Not Viticulture! My world has turned upside down!
Broccoli says hi to Dob!

+gooberweevil sorry dob's asleep now or i'm sure she'd return the salutation :)
'Tiny Epic Resort'? Lol
got rid of pandemic ?
nope. still have it it, still love it
rahdo it is in you "rid of" list of the description
ah. basically, my original first edition printing of pandemic has been replaced with my copy of pandemic legacy, and we just play on that board now with all the expansions (which all now nicely fit in the P:L box) :)
Hey could you help me I'm really into co-op games the group I have ranges in between 3-5 sometimes more, can you list any other co-op games that we could play together, any 1v alls also. List is (Munchkin panic, Dead winter, red November, eldritch horror, Arkham horror, shadows over Camelot, time looper, betrayal on house, lvl 7 escape, gears of war, and death angel) if you could please help it would be soooooooo awesome thank you!
Oh and pandemic
