    I have been to the Pantanal once. The difference between wet and dry is staggering ranging from thousands of square miles and islands of jungle in the wet season to open grasslands mid season and lakes in the mid season and then dry grassland in the dry season.
    The Pantanal is incredibly flat with minor turnoffs between Campo Grande and Coumba on the Bolivian border. A 2 metre drop in water level is enormous and very concerning.

    Two years ago, the media in Brazil used to insinuate that president Bolsonaro was to blame for. The discourse in Brazil now is different. Why...?

  • @martiansoon9092
    @martiansoon9092 2 месяца назад +1

    Nope, it is not only the climate driven drought. It is clear cutting the trees too. Amazon rainforest have had around 7 rain patterns from Atlantic coast to Andies, before the water runs back to the sea. And we have cutted the first two of the patterns leaving the rest with less water.
    So climate change draws moisture from the soil (7% per 1C), but the main cause in this region still is the clear cutting of the forest.
    Some scientists say that SE Amazon is already turning to desert and grassland. And there is growing likelihood that rest of the Amazon goes in the same direction.

      It's not allowed, but the government blames climate change or anything else for it. There are a lot of hectares of preserved land turning to dust or mining area (I don't need to say the correlation, right? ) and there are a very little investment in new technology and security to provide preservation in this field. In other words, there is a lack of capabilities to protect or interest in doing so.

    • @jdotsalter910
      @jdotsalter910 2 месяца назад

      Being from California, fires ebb and flow every year. Some years are quiet, others are disastrous. Last year was quiet but the fires have already started and it's smoky right now from a fire north of San Francisco. The 5-10 year trend is probably a better gauge.

  • @srcarranza
    @srcarranza 2 месяца назад

    When will they try?! When will they try round the clock patrolling with fully loaded single engine air tankers. It's obvious! These can hit the fire and smother it instantly just when it's starting. Like a building fire sprinkler. At a $300 per hour operating cost, it's hundreds of millions of dollars less expensive than the alternative losses.
    An old timer fire fighting pilot once said: I'll put out any fire you give me with one spit... Just let me be flying over it, right when it's starting. Let AI plan the patrol routes using historic and current weather and ground fire conditions, have several SEAT's in the air at all time and we'll see the difference. I'm saying.

    91,3% of Brazil's power generation come from renewable sources! Biofuels represent 25% of transport fuels in Brazil! 58% of Brazil is covered by original forests with 217,637,297 people and been the 9° largest economy in the world with GDP about US$2,331 trillions dollars, look the biggest economies in the world as USA, China, India, Germany, UK or any Power in the G20, who country have 70% renauble of all energies sources?
