Mark, this video is a perfect example of the intersection between the science and the art of boatbuilding tempered with experience. I appreciate your taking the time to show the whole process.
If you mean this discourages you from taking a crack at boatbuilding, don’t let it put you off. I only mean to inform the viewer that extra attention needs to be given to a few spots and that it might take a while to get there. Epoxy construction is very forgiving. You can do a sloppy job of this bevelling and still get a good result. I’m just fussy.
@@Nomadboatbuilding I was trying to come up with something for the mini Greenland kayak frame and failed, so I guess I'm recharging my smartass commentary battery.
I get the impression that the heyday was about a decade ago. I feel like they are kind of riding on past successes but I'm curious about the Craftsman TV show they were involved in. Could be that has taken over their time.
@@christopherlovegrove1935 Not in my experience, been doing it for years. I use it on my saw blades too. I think Paul Sellers has a few video about the topic.

Welcome
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Opening music choice was perfect choice with the block planing. Might seem like a weird comment, but that's the thought that came to me.
I seem to be having a tempering affect on you Bob. Haven’t seen much wise in your acre in a while.

Good man. Take your time. I wouldn’t want to taking any shots with a light load.
Looking good!
Thanks Richard.
Very cool,as you mentioned,it’s a shame about all the gear in disrepair .

If I may offer my hand plane tip, use 3 in 1 oil. It works better than wax.
🤔 don’t put a lightbulb in yer back pockets’ my tip 🤣
❤
Been a bit busy lately, there seems to be a surplus of secret ingredient 🎯
But that doesn’t ride in my apron pocket very well.
Never use any oil on the sole of a plane! If the oil gets into the wood you are working, how do you expect the glue to
bond properly?

I always wax my stick when I'm working on the bottom.
Steady on there Steven. This is a family channel.
