I am Russian who left the country 5 years ago to live in United States since even back then my family knew that the government only cared about them selfs and not the people. I still have a lot of my family back in Russia and the worst part about it is that I have my sister there and she was put on the list mobilization because she is a doctor. She managed to run away to Turkey a couple days ago but now she doesn’t have anything because she had to leave everything she worked so hard for back in Russia. I was always against this stupid war and I feel such a sorrow that my people and Ukrainian people have to die because of one’s man greed.

There were rumors that about a thousand professional US military were sent to Ukraine as officers, who are now fundamentally lacking in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The scheme is very simple. You allegedly leave the army, then sign a contract with a PMC that sends you to Ukraine. Contractual salary for junior officers, from $ 35,000 per month and above. It all depends on experience, position and skills.
Also, under the contract, they simply recruit soldiers who form foreign combat groups of PMCs, the salary of an ordinary soldier, from $ 10,000, everything also depends on experience, length of service and profession.
All this is paid for through Western funds associated with the Pentagon.

The son of a college friend in St. Peterberg received his conscription papers two days ago even though he is not a reservist. I went through the Vietnam era and didn't understand his adamant refusal to resist the conscription, because I know he is skeptical of Russia's activities in Ukraine. His view is that as a good citizen he is required to obey the law regardless whether he disagrees with it or not.
The way I size it up is that it's more like how people reacted to the war in the early sixties versus the late sixties. Good citizenship gave way to objective assessment of the kind of government in S. Vietnam that so many young Americans needlessly died for. Russian citizens have not gotten to that sort of realism vs. blind nationalism re-assessment yet.
