I like your videos very well explain and informative. Thank you for taking time well done 👍 I just bought a Honda Pilot 2022 amazing suv . Great performance and comfort
We bought a used 2019 RTL-E; I was on-the-fence about the ZF-9 speeds... putting together Japanese and European differential-system just seems like oil and water. Plus, do you even use 1st and 9th? It's a 7-speed 99% of the time; 1st when towing, 9th when cruising at, what, 105 mph? We've been okay with it so far. I had to install a truck-gate lock on it; Honda didn't put locks on the truck-gate until 2020 model I think... for whatever reason. There's also some major limitations with the types of tonneau-covers you can put on this thing, and the OEM Honda cover was sheer crap until parts-revision 101-102 I think. Timing-belt HAS to be replaced at 100k... yup, a belt... although I've read some compelling arguments why Honda still uses a belt... I dunno, the jury's still out. It's a good truck... just some wonky implementations; if you're going to have truck-bed audio, how do you miss a standard, locking gate? I will say that the truck-bed liner... that's the BEST ever, incredibly tough. You can slide concrete cinder-blocks on that thing... doesn't even scratch it. Really impressive. AWD... can't beat it, especially on steep, dry, rocky, winding trails going up and down these river bends... never could get the 4WD in the Tundra to work well in these conditions... no maneuverability without tearing-up the rack-and-pinion. This Honda bounces around these trails like a 4WD Geo Tracker, it's really cool. I've seen at some dealerships, they're putting running-boards on these things. I can't make any sense of that... I guess it gives it a street-look.
@VehicleVisionary I would love for Honda to incorporate a Easy Lift & Easy Down tailgate. I’m 70 and it’s gotten to we’re I cannot open or shut the tailgate.
Can't decide between this, Frontier, or a Taco so I think I'll just sit in all of them and buy whatever fits best. Or maybe just say screw it and get the Taco because it has a manual.
They do have it on RTL-E and Black Edition Ridgeline trims in US. It also is an accessory you can get or was. But seeing how new redesign Pilots come with heated steering in many models next Gen Ridgeline probably get same. Canadian Spec Honda models diffrent from US Spec.
I have the 2020 Ridgeline, and my only complaint is the wide turning radius. Have they done anything to improve that in the 2023? Asking because my lease is up this year! Nice video.
@@macjoseph2375 yeah on my very wide street I have to line up with the curb to make a full turn I would prefer a sedan to be honest 😂 but don’t get me wrong the truck will last you very long and is very spacious. Hondas are good cars
Everything about this is pretty good, is this on a truck chasis? I have to say its appearance is probably the worst of all mid sized pick up trucks and why it immediately fell off my radar. It's way to boxy and rigid looking. Compare the body style to any other midsized and you'll see what i mean, if they change that to make it more sleek you'd probably see an uptick in sales.....but even then it's still on what i believe an SUV chassis, hence the better ride. Nice video though, would get one if i was as you said n the beginning, older and wanting that "Truck" look but not really a truck.
My few complaints about the ridgeline is that it seems like it has leftover parts from the 1st gen TLX, the way the center console looks similar and dated, same as the infotainment, looks just like the 1st gen TLX. The 9 speed and engine? It's the same one from all TLX. At this point, it's time to drop those and upgrade them to the current stuff they are building for their recent cars.
Well you comparing to TLX. The Ridgeline shares most of its part's with Pilot and Passport Suvs. This makes it cheaper to build. The original 1st Gen Ridgeline only shared 7% parts with any other Honda vehicle. Only selling about 30k-40k units per year its cost effective to share part's. When the introduced 2nd Gen Ridgeline some part's they showed were different or made out of different materials than Pilot. This was like suspension parts knuckles were one I remember.
That is a good question, Gerard! As of right now Honda has not given any details but based on the fact that so man other models have been redesigned recently I would be shocked if Honda does not roll out an all-new Ridgeline for Honestly, it would be a big mistake not too
I doubt you see any turbo. What ever you see on the current new 2023 redesign Pilot will be on Ridgeline Next Gen Ridgeline. Definitely 10 speed transmission Iike MDX Odyssey Pilot. Same engine new Pilot got. Things will be tweaked calibrated for Ridgeline.
If you buy any modern car you better replace the OEM battery asap. They are poorly made and not reliable. These trucks are nice; the interior needs a refresh tho
😂😂😂😂 I was so close to making a comment about that then I thought it would be interesting to see how many views it took before a viewer said something. I think that is worth a Vehicle Visionary t-shirt. If you're interested send me an email at vehiclevisionaryyt@gmail.com.
It has bluetooth pairing, but it still does not have "wireless" android auto, which is starting to become common. You need the usb cable unless you get something like the Motorola MA1 wireless android auto adapter.
@@LA-db9xj I think it may not be capable. Our other car, a 2017 Buick, is the same, bluetooth but only capable of android auto / apple car play with a hardwire connection. No updates for that either, but it can work with an android auto wireless adapter like the Motorola MA1. Seems to me that the hardware in the Ridgeline has not changed since gen 2 started in 2017, no real updates. The manufacturers have no incentive to software update something already sold unless it is a warranty issue.
Where's the 2023 2024 upgrades. Updated version. Bigger wheel and tire package. Wider exterior and interior 1ft length more 1ft width driver to passenger. More cab space driver to passenger with a 4 inch clearance seat to seat 4 ways each chair. 3-4" inch. liftkit Stepbars . Larger panoramic moon roof so the rear row passengers can enjoy the view as well. Heated rear seats. Portable Bluetooth speaker 🔊 to keep you entertained no matter where you go. But it charges when you bring it back to the center console area it allows wireless charging. Honestly the Ridgeline truckbed needs updating . Where's the wide body version 👀 at least make it look wider during the next production. Make a foldable travel trailer to haul more than that small truckbed the Ridgeline has . Hopefully the engineers over at Honda headquarters can debate during the concept view. I definitely love the shape of the Ridgeline but it needs at least a foot more width and length interior design/Exterior.
I case of Ridgeline you have to think your paying for a Pilot with a bed. It is upgraded for pickup truck duty diffrent suspension parts or made out of different materials. The best version of the Pilot many reviewers say. It's going to cost more to manufacture a mid-sized Unibody pickup truck vs Body-On Frame pickup. The difference is Ride Handling and Driving Dynamics. You would prefer Ridgeline on a 1,000 mile road trip over most of the other pickup trucks.
I own a 2018 GMC Sierra ultimate Denali. Most of what it can do is a waste and I have never used it. I paid a lot for a truck that’s over built and over priced. A new one cost 90 k. Ridiculous ,, I need a real truck to do day to day real errands. The Ridgeline / Honda now GETS IT.
@reginald Thorne It's definitely a truck. Why wouldn't it be because of it's size? It's practical for the people that need it. If you're comfortable driving a cruise ship on the road that does all the truck things you need thats great. But for many Americans this is more than enough.
A real truck user knows. When you try to load it at a supply house of any trade , you quickly find how badly designed / useless it is. Todays truck are built more for games like off roading. Not real life like actually working with them. Otherwise you would see the commercials showing them being loaded instead of them rock climbing .

Love the grey wheels as they look like they're already coated with brake dust. Lol!
😂 Best comment of the day!
That armrest and center console is absolutely horrible!
Did y'all not see the MASSIVE bug on top of the fender at 3:05??
Everything about this is pretty good, is this on a truck chasis? I have to say its appearance is probably the worst of all mid sized pick up trucks and why it immediately fell off my radar. It's way to boxy and rigid looking. Compare the body style to any other midsized and you'll see what i mean, if they change that to make it more sleek you'd probably see an uptick in sales.....but even then it's still on what i believe an SUV chassis, hence the better ride. Nice video though, would get one if i was as you said n the beginning, older and wanting that "Truck" look but not really a truck.
Got mine
If this were an Accura, it would unseat the Cadillac.
I just wish the Toyota had built this truck based on the Camry/Highlander platform. Honda has noticeably worse build quality.
Needs a panoramic sunroof
Why can't you get four-wheel drive Ridgeline?
The oddyssey and the ridgeline is going to be redsign for 2024
When will it get an updated turbo charged drivetrane, pano - sunroof of the pilot and updated infotainment and a proper shifter?
That is a good question, Gerard! As of right now Honda has not given any details but based on the fact that so man other models have been redesigned recently I would be shocked if Honda does not roll out an all-new Ridgeline for Honestly, it would be a big mistake not too
A hybrid would be great too.
Great review Sir, nice job!
Thank you, Chuck!
poor choice of tires
If you buy any modern car you better replace the OEM battery asap. They are poorly made and not reliable. These trucks are nice; the interior needs a refresh tho
What is an OEM battery ?
What car maker manufacturers their own battery? My vehicle, Honda Pilot, is 6 years old as of yesterday, and it still has the original battery.
Nice truck
Oh so we’re not gonna talk about that big a** bug at 3:22 😅
😂😂😂😂 I was so close to making a comment about that then I thought it would be interesting to see how many views it took before a viewer said something. I think that is worth a Vehicle Visionary t-shirt. If you're interested send me an email at vehiclevisionaryyt@gmail.com.
It’s Louisiana. Doesn’t faze us.
Interesting that 2023 does not have wireless phone pairing. My 2019 RTL-T has wireless Bluetooth pairing.
21:56 I have a ‘22 RTLE and it has Bluetooth pairing.
@@terrywood3883Thanks. I typed it wrong. The review is for 2023. I find it almost impossible that it does not have bluetooth.
It has bluetooth pairing, but it still does not have "wireless" android auto, which is starting to become common. You need the usb cable unless you get something like the Motorola MA1 wireless android auto adapter.
@@schGjS They can always do an OTA update and drop it in the system. Hopefully they will!
The manufacturers have no incentive to software update something already sold unless it is a warranty issue.
no sunroof
Hi handsome. Question at the 3:20. Is that a Texas cockroach?
I was going to buy a Ridgeline, but then I remembered I am straight. /Troll
Is this a million mile truck?
If there is such a truck any longer, I'd bet on this brand for sure! Along with, Nissan and Toyota.
Yes. But with changed trans and rebuilt engine. Only Tacoma and frontier has reached 1 million mile with original engine and trans.
Actually FWD is HONDA, I thing its make with FWD its exactly HONDA 100000000000%😂😂 just kidding okayy.....😅
Idk about the price tho.
Really? A gentleman's truck???
To damn expensive! Have you lost your ever loving mind 😡🤬
I agree that they all are these days, but this truck falls in line with all the competition.
You would prefer Ridgeline on a 1,000 mile road trip over most of the other pickup trucks.
infotainment sucks bad. 8 years behind. Voice command doesn't work hardly.
Because it’s not a real truck
Nah i prefer an F150
nothing wrong with the F150, especially if you need a bigger bed or towing
apples and oranges, midsize vs full-size, but I understand your point.
Good thing everyone has their own preferences.
To get an F150 optioned like a Ridgeline Black Edition it would probably set you back $85K. Nice truck but too $$$ for me.
Crappy gas mileage. About the same as a larger more capable domestic. Easy pass.
Not a truck. Tiny little thing.
It's the only midsized truck that can fit a 4x8 FLAT on its bed.
@reginald Thorne It's definitely a truck. Why wouldn't it be because of it's size? It's practical for the people that need it.
If you're comfortable driving a cruise ship on the road that does all the truck things you need thats great. But for many Americans this is more than enough.
Grow-up. I came from a 2016 Tundra, and before that a Ram 1500 Turbo Diesel. I'll take my 2022 Ridgeline over both of those. ALL DAY, EVERY DAY.
A real truck user knows. When you try to load it at a supply house of any trade , you quickly find how badly designed / useless it is. Todays truck are built more for games like off roading. Not real life like actually working with them. Otherwise you would see the commercials showing them being loaded instead of them rock climbing .
WHY HONDA DON'T USE TIMING CHAINS ON THEIR LATEST MODELS? REPLACING TIMING BELT EVERY 100K MILES IS SUCH A STUPID IDEA.
So is replacing broken plastic timing chain tensioner guides. Yes, the chain may last but the plastic guides are the weak link.
GET OVER IT.
