    Just got done attaching the hasps on my new Kobalt toolbox, I know it's not foolproof, but the more complicated and time consuming you make it for a thief, the less likely he'll rip you off, and move on to an easier target. Thank you Sir for posting the video.

    Using tiny sheet metal screws makes for a very weak link.
    A small crowbar will pull them out of the aluminum sheet metal very easily.
    Use small bolts with washers and nylon nuts on the inside.

      Add a backer plate of steel, as well.. aluminum is tearable, given enough leverage.

    Bought a used tool box for 50 bucks. Had no keys. Used this idea. 50 bucks for box and about 40 for the hasps and locks. That felt a lot better on my wallet than 250 for a new tool box. Thanks.

    Even if a determined thief can eventually get in.....the point is to make it more difficult , more time consuming and thus...less desirable. Nice upgrade. You might switch to bolt and nut rather than the screws, but it sure looks solid to me......

      To make more secure, cut a 1/4 “ metal plate and install with all 4 - thru 1/4” bolts with lock nuts . As everyone knows you want to catch the sb stealing your lively hood tools , you should set up an camera and electric charge to knock them on there ass , you’ll catch them but you’ll get sued . So I recommend “ not doing the electric charge “. Lol

    I did the same before watching video. Thieves can cut my lock. They'll open box and find nothing expensive. I use it for extra storage and emergency/roadside gear. I put the hasp in the middle of the box.

    I’m not impressed with a lot of the locking systems available so I found a knack box that had fallen off a truck and was able to salvage the locking mechanism that uses good heavy master locks but it’s engineered so you cannot get bolt cutters on the locks and I’m putting those in a heavy metal Rawson koening steel truck box with a alarm on it . It seems no one makes those.

  • @viktorrotkiv1698

    That’s exactly what I did to my tool box and they cut off the lock with a grinder . I’ve seen using a trailer lock is more secure

    • @bubbatac9841
      @bubbatac9841  2 года назад +1

      Sorry to hear that. Definitely is a possibility with this set up. I think if they want in, there getting in. This keeps the honest, honest, and makes the dishonest have to carry a grinder around. Thanks for watching.

    bubbatac use the better masterlock it has a shorter thick U shaped locking mechanism lesser chance of theft. or talk to the manufacturer about another keyed latch for that side of the toolbox

    You can put 4 or 5 locks on that tool box. If i was a piece of shit thieving asshole I’d just take the whole damn thing.. gotta bolt it down,, like that one guy who took that atm that a store set outside.. it had all kinda locks on it weighed 400lbs and had a camera and gps in it.. dude strapped his wench to it truck off camera and when it was disconnected power, gps and camera went off.. they lost 30 grand.. hah..

    A theif will easily get in your box. all he needs is a bolt cutter and a screwdriver. So this is all pretty useless.

      JM Reviews that's like saying, a thief can easily get in the car, all they need is a bat to smash the window. Well of course. The point is to make it more difficult for a thief.
