Our group of ladies for the past two years have been doing donation quilts in conjunction with our local library , DAV, VFW, and sheriff's department. We donate scarves, lap quilts, baby quilts, and stuffed animals. In keeping with giving to others all of the raw materials are donated to us so we definitely consider it a pay it forward.

Re: Sew Yeah and the quilt drive - in addition to spreading love by making/donating quilts, it's simple basic marketing 101. You both benefit and grow your audiences by mentioning one another. They have and will likely continue to show you the same grace by mentioning you and your channel. Spread the love. The world could use more love. ps - I found your channel because they mentioned you.

I forgot to mention I am impressed that Sew Yeah thinks well enough of you to ask you to promote their drive. I doubt if they did that with a lot of others. You never know where the benefits of promoting this drive might come back around to you at some point. Rewards in Heaven far outweigh anything here. Maybe you can even do a scrap buster and encourage the rest of us to get on board with the same free scrap pattern. It would be nice to see their quilt premiere show with our scrap buster pattern so we can say we did it because of Sheri @ LessonsLearnt!!

That’s true, but I do have some doubts as to whether it will benefit my channel that much and with the added stress of a “participation” with deadline, etc. Thanks so much for your input. I’m still trying to decide. ❤️

I’m glad you enjoyed your trip. Sew Yeah has enough followers. You can promote your own charities. Spread the love.❤️

I am just loving the besties you received! I’m glad you had a nice refresh. I am new to tuning in to your chats so I don’t know about your personal charity quilt. I do however want to encourage you to promote Sew Yeah’s Alaska Quilt Drive. I know it benefits them getting their name out there so to speak but people are hurting and if we can help we should. I put my all in to making quilts for them (12) last drive and even though it cost to send them…so what. I was more blessed praying over each quilt and knowing it went to bless someone.

I personally wouldn’t be able to participate in sew yeahs quilt drive but I’m more than will to participate in Blu’s quilt projects.
Everyone should participate as they are able.

Good morning - One thing I appreciated last year from Sew Yeah's quilt drive was their primary message was giving - they always spoke about how folks can usually find a spot locally if it wasn't feasible for them to ship it to LV. I personally will probably participate - I made a couple last year that I missed the deadline on because I got sick. They'll go in this year I hope! Regardless of your choice as to whether or not to participate with them directly, you both have a similar message going in that spirit of giving, One of the pro's for me is that the smaller quilts are fun stash busters - they're great for a quick hit of finish it endorphins!

I also believe in doing as much good in the world as possible and participate in many of Sew Year's community giving projects each year. I also participated Blue's quilt project. I don't mind if you mention it and include a link to their webpage with the info on the project and the deadline. This year they are taking the quilts to remote villages in northern Alaska.

I have rope to make a bowl several years ago. I do like the dying idea. Maybe I’ll join you when you do yours. Also I was thinking landscape. I went to the library to get a book on modern landscape quilts. See great minds think alike.

I noticed you have a different iron on your ironing station . Do you still use the Panasonic cordless also? If not was there a problem or just wanting a different one for awhile. I did love the rope book, you have many great ideas, so many projects!! Love your show. Love the Spooling Around The Block quilt pattern and it is still available, plus it is a size I can handle. Old age and arthritis hinders handling large projects. Do whatever r you feel comfortable with as far as Sew Yeah goes, they have a large loyal following on their own. We are loyal to you. Thank you!

Thanks so much for your thoughts on the quilt drive. As for the iron, I decided to try the Oliso craft iron just to see how it was, I could always use another iron in a different location. I love it more than I thought I would and it stays on longer than the Panasonic (30 minutes versus 10). I still like the Panasonic for its cordless aspect. I took it inside to be in the longarm area. Works great when I need to press an area on an already loaded quilt.

I made the Sewing Machine collage by Laura Heine in a guild event. I have made art cards using a similar technique, small steps before jumping into a larger project.
Sew Yeah we live in 🇨🇦so won’t participate as I donate to a couple of local initiatives
