Lots of options +
a little imagination
= custom MRE.
A fun and practical
activity.
I’m in a bad spot, in California, with not a lot of money, I’m in college and I only have minimal preps. Thanks for the idea bro 💪🏼 you’re Channel is a gold mine of information.
Thanks for continuing to educate and motivate us!
I absolutely love your homemade MRE ideas. I Put the earliest expiration from what I am packing in these on the outside of the bag. As that date nears, I move them to a frequently used cupboard for a quick 'grab & go' packed lunch. I try to make a note of which combo's are prefered the best and replenish accordingly. Thank you so much for these types of videos.
Our Search and Rescue team ( SAR) members are each required to have 6 days worth of food rations packed into a 5 gallon rectangular plastic bucket. Because Emergency SAR work is high stress the rations must be high in calories ( 3-4K per day). This can be done with each meal individually sealed in its own plastic pouch. Balance the nutrition between carbohydrates, fats, proteins, sugars...look for the densest nutrition foods. In an Emergency Situation, because of stress and exertion, you will need tons of calories to function properly. These meals should be edible without adding water, and not require cooking. Prepare for the worst case imaginable. Prepare accordingly. YOU CAN DO THIS.
Okay but what did u guys pack ?
Now I am going to break down my MREs and redo them. You always have great new ideas.
Just excellent. An economical and effective means of long term meal prep to add to another step of being prepared.
this has some helpful tips. I had a young man come to my door, homeless, hadnt eaten in days, no winter boots his feet were soaking wet. I was not willing to let him in my apt, as i am a senior lady alone, and he could have been on drugs, I just didnt feel safe inviting him in...but I did give him what I could to eat. Now I have the idea to keep on hand packages that I can hand out to these homeless youth who are in my neighbourhood. food they can eat without having to cook it. anyone else have any ideas I am looking.
Precooked noodles, single servings, or rice.
Send them to a shelter... he needs food, a roof and clothes.
It may sound cold. They can help him much better than you. Start a network if the homeless problem is bad. They will be glad to help!
Most of these items are already on my grocery list regularly. Adding condiments, beverage mixes, and flatware I really all that I need to think about getting and I can begin packing and rotating these MREs. Thank you. Even though I regularly buy most of these items, backing them up so that I have an idea of how many days emergency food I have on hand will make me better organized.
Hi I’m 12 years old and I can’t convince my mom to prep anything. She says there are other things she can spend money on or whatever. But she should consider that beers and cigs are not things that you should spend money on! But when I’m older and have my own money and place, I will be an awesome prepper and survival guy and will make costome mres and have supply caches buried around the country.
If you keep the bags at full length and seal them at the end, you can re-use the bags after rotating out the old, saves a bit of money
Love the idea of adding those water packs to the homemade MRE. I'm going to have to get some of those. I keep some home made MREs in a go bag for when I'm hospitalized because let's face it... hospital food sucks. lol
Powered peanut butter, ready cutt precut chicken sausage, Chicken noodle soup mix packages, pioneer country gravy packages
Thank you for giving us so many options! I learn something new every time I watch one of your videos!
Wonderful ideas. I don't have typical breakfast things for breakfast. I have meals. I figure I have a full day and will need the food energy and then I have the breakfast things for my evening meal since I am just going to rest and go to bed so I don't need the calories. I like this idea and will have to make up some "MRE"S" for myself!
Slider bags are great for older people whom have motion or grip problems with their hands. And can be found at dollar general for about $2 in 2024.
Also I recommend freezer bags as they are heavier and less prone to puncture. Been using them for years.
Thank you for sharing the information and putting your time into this! I'm constantly learning!
Great advice as always. I always learn something new when I watch one of your videos, and they're enjoyable as well. I don't believe I could post a video if my life depended on it, at least if it involved editing lol. Thanks for all of the time and effort, especially to help people who can use it. I know I'm not the only one who truly appreciates it! Stay safe out there and God bless!
Thanks for the tip to make your own MRE:s it is a great idea to do and as you said it is a lot cheaper.
George you're awesome!!!! I love your videos! 💗 Very insightful & useful.....Thank you.
Thanks!✌
Awesome, TY
I Love That Idea , That's Great Way To Have In All Situations
You will need the high salt if your sweating ( if I’m wrong, someone correct me.) Great ideas.

You should check with your health care provider first if you have high blood pressure or any Cardio or Vascular concerns.
Meals in a jar you can put in vacuum seal bags so they are easy for transport just dehydrate the meals you want and put them in the bags instead of jars
Awesome. Thanks!!! 👊🏼
Those are good options and combos. I included instant grits in my "MRE's" as an option to oatmeal. and included some add-ins (bacon bits, honey, and cinnamon. didn't have dehydrated butter or cheese) to gussy it up.
Far better than commercial mres and far far more affordable. Well done!
Thanks, George. Good Stuff. They have the lunch size microwave rice bowl
Great information 👍
Very nice ive started making my own. Right now there in ziplock bags eventually ill move them to the saver bags
Enjoy your videos. Appreciate your knowledge.
Thanks for watching!
I've found FRHes at Army surplus stores for sale individually for $1. Just a thought for options. Also, throw some Werther's or something in the bag to keep the ol' pie hole from getting too dry.
Excellent suggestions
Damnnnnn what a great Idea 💡
My problem with mre's, homemade or bought, is im always tempted to eat them, it'll be like a few days before we go to the grocery store again and im just eyeing an mre sitting in a cabinet
Mashed potato and Ramen is delicious! Especially when you’ve been hiking in the woods all day..
Great video
This is awesome
I've been making these MRE's for a couple of years now and they are really great. Dollar Tree is a great source for the MRE products. May I suggest a grab-n-go bucket #5 for your MRE's?
I've upgraded from plastic cutlery to bamboo. It doesn't seem to snap as easily as plastic.
Thank you for the video.
Nice you really spiked in numbers my friend! Congratulations, you have an awesome channel and content! Thanks for the info and the super ideas! God bless🙏🏻🇺🇸
Thanks yeah its been crazy!
Where do you go shopping? I like HEB more than Walmart or Kroger’s but maybe your getting your stuff at Kroger’s?
for this stuff mostly Krogers/Smiths
Garrett
You're fortunate to have Kroger as an alternative, San Antonio used to have Kroger and Albertson stores but they left town decades ago because they couldn't compete well enough with HEB. So now it's just HEB, Walmart, some specialty stores, and a few and far between Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. I don't like that situation.
Question for you. 1st great video. 2nd i see you have microwave food like Completes meal and baked beans also. How do you reconstitute them to eat??
What I do is toss them in a pan, and heat them over a low flame, works perfectly if you are camping or for emergency purposes.
Have you tried cafe bustello instant espresso? Good stuff
Yup love the stuff
Nice, I'm just about to do this same thing. Definitely gave me some ideas. I had someone comment on my channel the other day that you can't eat the tuna creations straight out of the bag. LOL Clearly they had never eaten a tuna creation. lol But I definitely think I'll be putting the chicken creations in my upcoming ones.
Thx for the vid george
I live in the UK and we have a different range of packaged "ready to eat" products, many different to what's available in the USA..
We also have items available that date back from centuries ago, many still utilized by our military... one that comes to mind is Kendal Mint Cake.. Google it.
Cool video's
mmm. ketchup! You have a lot better selection of small package food that we have here. Thank you for showing your MRE's to us, George. Stay safe and stay cool
Thank you for the video, what size ziplock is that??
Nice video😊😊
Great ideas!
Can you review vacuum sealers?
--
Do you ever use oxygen absorbers?
--
Great review, thanks.
Thanks !
Some people still put oxygen absorbers it the jars for some added help/protection because something you might get a jar that dont seal right or its pop open a little while later so the oxygen absorbers help keep that problem from happening
@A I what I was meaning is I seen people with seal them like normal but still put an absorber in just for a little added help/protection it makes people feel better 2 have that extra help from the absorber it is ok to do that even if its not necessary
What about northwest fork freeze dried foods. I've tried there stuff it's really good and doesn't take much water or hot water. Warm water works too.
Never heard of them, will check them out thanks!
@@Iridium242 I haven't tried them all just the southwest chipotle stew. It comes in large Mylar bags. It tasted pretty good. Though one thing I noticed is that it reminded me of oatmeal lol but tasty. I may not have made it right though. Can find on Amazon. not many ppl have seen them. Same for tasty bites I think it's called. The Indian food that's already cooked just warm up. Those taste good and one pack of rice and one pack of entree makes easily 2 meals. Filling.
Black bean chipotle I guess it was called.
How much was the sealer ? Oh, and where did ya get the pork packs ?
Got it at wlamart years ago think it was like 35 bucks
What size vacuum seal bags are you using ? Quart size ?
Yes
You really sealed the deal
Never miss a video.
Wish we had stuff like that in the UK, you wont get chicken in a ouch here, not least that i have seen. Shame really as thats an awesome idea. plenty other options though.
Where did you find the backcountry white chicken chili? or where do you find that brand at all?? Hows price?
Price was around 6 bucks and change and it was at a local survival store in town here
@@Iridium242 ahh thnx much
Great information, thank-you! What do you think about throwing in a couple of napkins for TP? Also, I take it you would pan to eat these cold?
Going to have another bucket with all that in it, should be a total of 4 buckets, 3 with food (Need a breakfast one as well as another lunch and dinner one) and one with nothing but cooking supplies, paper plates, and other stuff needed, will do a video on the whole thing once that part is done
Could you post general expiration dates of some good products to put in. Looking for 1-2 year shelf life. Will the crackers last that long?
Is there a piticular store where you get your food stuffs from ?
Walmart, Smiths, Albertsons, and a few of the dollar type stores around here, just depends.
Hey Iridium, where can I pick up little packs of water for my kits ? Thanks
I got them from theepicenter.com I think
👍
Does Thrive offer a good variety of gluten free options? I have celiac disease.
Yes they have some gluten free options
Where do you get the backcountry chili
Got it from a local survival store here, but i think you can order it online.
Hi! I love Thrive Life products. I’m wondering if it would be smart to join for the discount but to also encourage my family to start prepping. Is their a monthly charge for the website? I couldn’t find anything about that. Thanks for your time.
Charge for the website is $9.99 and you are required to maintain a 50 dollar a month order but if you are prepping 50 bucks can go quickly so its not a big deal
I think I’m going to go for it! I’ll sign up under you. Is the $79 good for all of September?
@@janapinson8665 79 makes you a consultant forever includes the website fee too for the first month
How much of a discount do we get?
