    Fun Fact: none of these will help if it's stick drift. There's something g wrong with the actual components itself

    the fact that this is still an issue with the quest 3 is disgraceful. I dont own one, but I had a lot of issues with quest 2 stick drift, and meta denied warranty because I had moved to a different country. Buying a device for 500 dollars, and then having to buy a repair kit is actually criminal

    If your problem still isn't fixed, try using some electrical contact cleaner and putting it inside the joystick.

      Electrical cleaner will destroy your controller more over time. Use deoxit f5

    When your thumbsticks drift, the problem is at the thumbstick, not your tracking.
    You'll need to buy a repair kit and repair the thumbstick yourself with a proper guide.
    Alternatively you can replace the controller if Meta sells replacement controllers.

      Exactly. I don’t get why they say a mirror or bad lighting means stick drift. It’s really weird.

      Yeah, I don't know who greenlight this video, but they're an idiot.
      I have drift on my left quest 2 controller and at this point, I'm going to pry out the faceplate with a screwdriver and clean the dust out, which is what I read in a REAL guide to fix drift.

      The Quest 3 controllers have the exact same joysticks as the Quest 2. @ImaRainbow already tore one apart. I think they swapped out the joystick piece to prove it. Same repair kits for the Q2 will work on the Q3.

      If you're out of the warranty window you're kind of on your own unfortunately.

    The fact this is still an issue in the latest model is concerning. My Quest 2 controllers are so badly affected by this it's made it almost unusable now. Keeping prices down is one thing, but to the detriment of the devices performance as a key component is unacceptable. Cheap and nasty build quality.

      Yeah it sucks but for some reason my quest 3 controllers lasted longer than my quest 2 controllers getting stick drift

    They use the same type of stick as the switch controllers and have been in every controller since quest was released. Even the $300 quest pro controllers have the same type of stick (mine just started) Internal plastic that wears easily over time and usage.

    When my Q2 sticks developed drift after a year and a half, I fixed them, perfectly and completely, and they stayed that way. It's been almost 2 years now since I fixed them and they are still flawless. But you guys go ahead and just keep telling people to spray contact cleaner or alcohol or whatever, I suppose you're the geniuses, right?

    Meta missed the mark here, most of those won't work at all. Just provide stick recalibration for all Quests and the PC app. I haven't checked on them lately, but the Q3 seems to have that now. Problem mostly solved.

    can you guys add a update where you fix the music on the quest 3 because when you try to listen to music on the quest browser on the q3 it lags out and sounds weird

    Thanks will definitely try these! My issue is though my left controller stick moves backward 80% of the time when I am pointing the analog stick forward. Is that normal? If not how can i fix this? Thanks.

    most of the time drift is caused by gunk getting into the base of the stick. just squirting it out with electrical contact cleaner solves it for me

    None of this is going to fix stick drift.. The fact that Meta made this video instead of using better stick actuators is insane. Not to mention they act like sending them in is no big deal but that would mean 2 weeks without the controllers.

    Are the controllers easily taken apart to get to the joystick gubbins like we had to with quest 2 controllers (to spray wd40 contact cleaner)? I’m assuming at some point I will have to

    except for removing debris, all of these wont even help at all. the problem isn't from the tracking, its from the controller its self. i have began to experience this with my left quest 2 controller. its so annoying. i think the best solution is to recalibrate the controllers.

      I’ve tried recalibrating left controller, and it did help a very small bit, but it was not a cure; I’m going to try what Meta suggested in deactivating controller and reactivating. Hope this works for you as well.

      @@MetaQuestVR hello thanks for checking up on me and my controller lol 😆 I haven’t tried the unpaired and pairing of controller I have to learn how to do that first before I try. I did yesterday clean my left controller with ethanol, alcohol and Q-tips as very careful not to use too much and that it air dry took the batteries out when I was doing it. Thanks again. I’ll try that unpairing/pairing

    i need help badly so my left controller is really screwed like it's got major drift i try fixing it but i cant and i don't have the stuff i need to spray it with and i hit it
    now it wont connect and when it does its all over the place so i was just gonna use my previous one i had but the problem with the previous one is when im in vrchat when i face my controller the the left so in game my hand is showing my palm to my face it kinda just flys off slowly and when i face the ring of the controller at me it fixes i need help or advice on how to fix it please help me

Although, when it does connect there's major lag issues with it, so let's not waste more time and get you started on a few troubleshooting before we proceed.
      - Remove unsupported third-party accessories that may affect power, battery fit, or controller detection. For example, rechargeable grips, controller, covers, etc.
      -Change the controller battery and check the LED status (blinking, solid, or no light at all)

    non related to the video but, is it safe to use one of them glasses cloths for the headset. the tissues which have those soft spikes at the edge.

    This is really silly, I’ve had my quest 3 for 2 weeks now my left controller is drifting! And I’ve tried every method suggested not fixing the problem at all!

To start, we do want to let you know that we don't recommend using that specific cleaner for your controller. In case you need it, here's a link with all of our recommended best cleaning practices to keep in mind: metaque.st/ProductCare.
      If you're having some issues with drift on your Touch Controller Joystick, we do have some troubleshooting aside from that first cleaning step. We highly recommend removing any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect button movement or controller detection (such as controller covers, controller attachments, etc.), removing the battery from the controller for at least 30 seconds, and unpairing/repairing your Touch Controllers from the Meta Quest mobile app. Should any further issues pop up, please reach out to our wonderful support team here: metaque.st/Support! 🙂

    I'd love to buy one instead of dismantling this tight packed device
    but just by looking at its pricetag hurts me physically, especially pro version
    I know meta haven't started milking our data on these device so needs some subsidizing but god the price

    are you talking about controller drift (when the controllers do not track accuratelly their spatial position in 3D space) or stick drift (when the analog stick's position is not properly recognized due to debris or a faulty joystick)?

    Fun fact if we have stick drift after 4 mo.ths of use... that's a defect. No co trolley should start to die this soon

      1.Remove unsupported third-party accessories that may affect thumbstick motion or controller detection. For example, controller covers, controller attachments, etc.
      2.Remove the battery from the controller for 30 seconds. Try a new battery.
      3.Unpair and pair the controller to the headset
      4.Recalibrate the controller joystick range and deadzone

      1. Clean the controller.
      You can also use compressed air to remove any debris inside thecontroller.
      2. Remove the batteries from the controller for at least 30 seconds and replace them with new ones.
      3. Unpair and pair the controller again to the headset.

    Had to deal with this BS all the time with Quest 2 and now it's happening with Quest 3. Make it easier to get support instead of jumping through hoops with troubleshooting tips that don't work. It's your CHEAP joystick component.

      The electrical contact cleaner though not the lubricant. You spray regular WD-40 in there and you're going to have a problem.

      Electrical cleaner will destroy your controller over time trust me. It may looked fixed but it's stripping away at the insides. Use deoxit f5 instead.

    Here’s how to help stick drift: DO NOT BUY ANY QUEST HEADSET OR PRODUCTS 😁 (coming from a quest user) wait until a better product that is consumer friendly to drop *cough cough* Valve *cough cough* Steam. You won’t get any drift issues immediately like Quest.
