    I had a problem with both of my controllers, The right one would move in random directions erratically and the left one only went in one direction, so I did this and they both worked like new. You advice has helped me beyond comprehension.

      Do you have to spray it more then once or does it work one time and you're good? I'd do it but seems like once the WD 40 wears off you have to spray it again, might cost you more money fixing it every time then it would to buy new controllers in the long run.

      This method is really bad. The best and only way to fix it is to clean it inside when you remove the black cover. The worse of them all is to waste your time sending it back to facebook since you can easily fixed yourself that ended up as good as new at home

    Had this same issue with Quest 1 controller and used this fix a few times with good success, but it always came back. Oculus Support sent me a great tip, which was to run a toothpick around the seating of the thumbstick while holding it out at its maximum (do this for up, down, left and right). This cleared out some obvious gunk inside and the controller has been perfect since

    • @OPENPCreviews
      @OPENPCreviews  2 года назад +1

      Did you have physical debris around the base of the thumbstick that you could see visually or do you mean somehow sticking it under the thumbstick? I wasn't able to see any dirt is why I'm asking. Thanks for the info.

    • @OPENPCreviews
      @OPENPCreviews  2 года назад +1

      Hey thanks! I also got mine on launch day. Yeah someone else told me that their controller drift was completely fixed by doing this as well! I've never had controller drift with these but good to know in case it happens. Weird though that I've never had issues like this with my Q1 controllers and I used them quite a bit. So if you still have your original left Oculus Quest 2 controller you should keep it, I bet this trick will get rid of the drift! Same side controller I was having issue with, the left one. I was just about to order a new left Quest 2 controller for $69 when I posted this issue on Reddit and got the advice to try this. I was shocked and extremely thankful that it actually worked.

    Its also not hard to remove the top cover plate (After removing the battery) to expose the thumb stick and pull it off (straight up) revealing the shaft of the joystick itself. You can then lightly spray the same cleaner down the sides and work it in easily. (all else applies in this video) - thanks for posting

    We're spending hundreds of dollars the least they could do is have remote controls that work I remember years ago even Nintendo controllers would last for years. Keep in mind that while the WD-40 may be a quick fix from my experience the problem will come back probably worse than before and then by that time the warranty will be expired so you're out the money I looked into a price of a new remote and where I'm at it's $100 just for one remote. We had purchased two Oculus quests and they both have the same issue that you're talking about so it's obvious that everybody is getting it sooner or later Oculus really should step up their customer support and issue refunds or credits. Why do we have to take a day out of our lives to buy all these extra products to fix their cheap product that breaks after a few weeks lol.

    I had the issue as well. The Oculus support called it "stick drift", but AFAIK stick drift is a different issue and can be fixed to a certain extent by extending the dead zone. But this issue here is different and since this is quite wide spread: is there an actual name for this issue?
    BTW: I got my left controller replaced by Amazon and the new controller developed the same issue after 1 month, but worse.

      Yes, the correct name for this ailment is 'stick drift'. Happens to just about every controller that uses a joystick, be it xbox 360, One, PS4... Sounds like for once Meta got something right (no, not the controllers but the name of the ailment)

    will this help if my buttons on the controller aren't working too, because sometimes the buttons won't work reliably, I also have the same issue with the joystick and I'm just making sure if it's safe to do the same strategy on the buttons as well

    I have opened the black cover and done this. But it’s still going back to drifting after few plays of Pavlov. Will try the toothpick method.

    So this ended up helping a little but not fixing the problem entirely. The controllers are under a 1 year warranty from purchase date, and I was able to get an RMA without even talking to anyone.

      @@OPENPCreviews Agreed. I think the root cause may be dried up sweat in my case. Beat Saber gets me soaked and there's no doubt some salt found its way onto the contact and dried up, since there's zero protection for it below that faceplate.
      For as much as the Quest gets advertised as a workout device, you'd think they'd have more consideration for sweat getting in there when designing the controller.

    I have an electrical contact cleaner spray BUT it isn't the WD-40 brand. Does it have to be specifically WD-40 or can it be any brand?

    • @OPENPCreviews
      @OPENPCreviews  Год назад

      I think any brand should work, as long as it's electrical contact cleaner.

    FYI, an air compressor can have a lot of moisture in the air. I’d stick with the canned air and keep the can vertical.

    instead of buying the wd first i just blew into the analog space where you sprayed the stuff then unpaired then paired it and it worked like brand new
