  • What Is A Pullmax? And Dies Are Acquired!
    In this video I go over what a Pullmax is and what it does. I also get my dies in, so its time to start using this beast! I hope you guys enjoy this video, it was hard to come across some of this info online before I got mine so I want this to help others interested in these old machines.

    I can't wait to see what all you can do with the Pullmax. Looks like one hell of a machine.

    You're going to have alot of different dyes before you know it. Now you need to get a board and cut some square holes in it to hold the dyes. Screw it to the wall next to the machine at a angle. That way you'll have all your dyes right there with the machine and it'll be nice and neat. Keep up the great work and God Bless you and your family. 💯👍👍🙏🙏👌

    The one I remember using only for nibbling window openings. It did have a cabinet on the rear right corner full of tooling we never used. This was on the same side as the VFD. When we ran it the operator always stood on the side your VFD is mounted. AL B.

    Fellow Pullmax owner here - P5 & P21. Great machines. Quick question: You list Peter Estes as a "resource" in your video description. Is he with Estes Machinery Company in Chicago? I'm guessing that Peter is Dave's son (Dave is the owner). Did you just buy your machine from them, or do they also sell tooling? The flanging tool looks particularly nice. Restated, where did you get your flanging tool?

    • @RACGARAGE
      @RACGARAGE  2 года назад

      Yes exactly! From what I was told peter owned the company. But I have no idea that’s just what he told me. My flanging tool was bought off a guy selling all his tooling. Don’t know the manufacturer.

      @@RACGARAGE Thanks for the quick reply. You did well on the tooling - that looks like nice stuff. Stan Fulton also makes nice Pullmax tooling.
      I’ll be interested to see your experience with the large beading tool (the one that you rotate to finish the ends of the bead). I built one very similar, haven’t used it a lot, but still struggling with the correct amount of pre-stretch.
      Thanks for sharing!

    Looks like a really nice machine!!! I have heard of these machines but have never seen one used so don't have a clue how they work. Anxious to see exactly how it is used. Curious, right now, how you would do a bead since you can't see the layout lines because they are between the two dies??? Similarly, for that Model A body line dye you started making, you make the "male/femail" sides of the dye our of 1/2" flat stock and keep stamping the sheet every 3/8"to 1/2" ??? Does it come out flat/even instantly or after multiple passes??? Again, will be "interesting" to learn!!! Again, how do you "guide" it to the shape/direction you want the profile to follow??
    Thanks for sharing!!
