Don't you think that you are disrespectful here, i agree that there are many people cause of hetalia think that every war was just a game, but there are also the opposite, like me. Although i do like eveyone in the anime i do believe that it wasn't beautiful not at all not even a little bit wars are not cute and relationships with countries isn't a game in fact i do not like countries in real world but i do feel bad for some countries that were too damaged like japan but in a way that was a good choice cause who knows what will happen if japan won on america maybe the world would have been more savage and japan wouldn't have this technology nor germany. Anyway, not like the anime countries weren't cute in real life they did bad things very bad things. But without the anime i wouldn't knew that in the world existed prussia and there is micronations and liechtenstein, belarus, latvia, estonia i didn't know hungary was important in history, the nordic 5 they were in an allience japan is older than germany and I wouldn't had the curiosity of searching about countries. Anyway hetalia is just an image or representing to the history in a funny way for children but sometimes i find it racist and the english dubbed version is raciest and have more bad words in it. What i wanted to say is try ignoring idiot people.

my take on this is, If Australia hadn't recalled it's Army from Europe after the North African battles against nazi Germany, Australia today would be a vast Japanese colony with massive wealth ,but because they didn't know that PNG and Australia were rich in minerals and oil (Australia didn't know herself until the 1950's) they chose to attack Manchuria . This was the initial cause of the japanese Attack on Pearl Harbour ,the US having blockaded japan because of Manchuria. Japan had state of the aert aircraft and ships. So after routing McArthur from the Philipines the east was theirs. If japan had of taken Australia ,they could not have been removed, the US only saw us as a strategic staging post to avenge itself and would not have tried to free the small population from Japoans Grip. But as most of Australia's army had been called back ,we were able to defend ourselves against the japanese who ,instead of rounding PNG ,tried to take it . PNG's climate worked against them from the beginning and simply wasted men and resources.

Thinking about the current political situation in Germany about our Nato responsibility's, I find the ending of Prussia hilarious. First the allies abolish the most militaristic and aggressive of our cultures, because they want to safeguard the "interests of preservation of peace and security of peoples" and "reconstruct the political life of Germany on a democratic basis". And it even works! Now we are a peaceful people, with a military spending that is only undercut in % of GDP by Japan. With a projected defense expenditure for the year 2045 that is actually the smallest of the major powers.
But now the same Powers that once disarmed us tell a different story. Now they criticize us for being unwilling to fight wars. The British want us to “get over” World War 2 and participate more aggressively on Nato Missions. The Americans criticize our low defense budgets with the "very real possibility of collective military irrelevance".
I have to wonder what the WWII Allies would think about that?

    Okay, Here goes -.-
I myself am a Hetalian, and i see lots of drama in the comments; quite frankly i find it sickening. Our fandom always gets out of hand, and it's these things that give us a bad reputation.
Unlike most hetalians, I understand that the show is a satire comedy and by no means tells actual history. My love for the shows and characters, and also small hints towards historical events is what sparked my interest in history. Hetalia makes me want to learn about the actual history behind things.
I think the hetalians in this comment section should please show some respect to others! Some people are here to learn and blabbing on about an anime character is not what they're here for! So before you start commenting offensive stuff about Prussia and start talking about how 'awesome' he is, please stop and save that for someplace else. People are here to discuss history, not mourn a fictional character.
    Thanks~

    • @theawesomemepreussen
      @theawesomemepreussen 6 лет назад +2

I agree in some aspects with you.
But when hetalians write an own comment and get hate speech from others here, then that's not acceptable too. Those historians (nostalgists) should just ignore the comments then and write under other comments with people who share the same motives.
Also I don't see that the fandom is getting out of hands (at least not more than any other fandom). When I look through the comments I see many hetalians who are just happy about sharing the same interests and topics, who are writing dedicated and have fun. And then some nostalgists come and insult them like they are something better than "anime weaboos". And that's the point where my toleration ends.
The hetalians don't hurt anyone. If anything they spread love about the same country, even when one is real and the other a fictional character who's very different from the real but anyway. They don't come and insult the people who like the real thing. But the other way around there are many people who insult anime lovers.
Also I'm German myself. And the history of Prussia may be interesting, but you don't want that time back. At least when you're smart and not nostalgic enough. ;)
It's not something to be really proud of and those who are... let's say they're too stuck in the past.

The true numbers are intentionally distorted but facts remain the same: 14 million Prussian-Germans were ethnically cleansed from Eastern Germany and 2,5 million Prussian-Germans were killed from 1945-1951... So many years after the war was supposedly over a organised campaign of murder and ethnic cleansing of almost all German civilians from Eastern Germany took place.

it was actually miracle that Prussia survived so long. if Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was a little stronger, there is no Prussia. if Russian Tzar what conquered Berlin wasn't crazy fan of Prussians, there is no Prussia. Napoleon conquered it completely but from some reason only he knew he decided to let Prussia exist. seriously, only great luck and some stupidity of others allowed Prussia to be there so long.

dont forget they married the brandenburg- line to become germans. before they were germanic slavs....Prussia and Silesia are States which was, strictly speaking, more Slavic. The Silesians have seen particularly as a mixture of Poles and Germans. The Prussians have turned to Germany in order to become more powerful. But both countries are just the typical German-influenced Polish space until the expulsion.

btw, what you said about prussians beeing a slav/german-mix is false. The königsberg part was founded by the deutscher Orden, a group of teutonic knights. Yes, the region of posen was mainly inhabited by slavs, the other regions (pommerania, brandenburg, silesia) not so. The original inhabitants (pruzzen) became extinct.

    • @ApolloMars1617
      @ApolloMars1617 10 лет назад +4

silesia is traditionaly a slavic country. there were eimigrants 1100 because poland wanted to have towns and they got immigrants from germany to build this cities. So everyone in silesia with protestantic belive had german ancestors. If there were no mixing between the groups, as it expired on the Lower Rhine.
Silesia has also been seen for centuries so as an autonomous country located between Germany and Poland. Today, the former Germans are always rather expelled. before WW2 in the cities lived many protestants.
and many Polish city terms are transferred from German.
I should point out that I 've never seen a people that were extinguished only because of a single nation hike. Thus, the conquest Britanias were never a major problem in the population , except around London , where it was already getting plenty exchanged with Belger , Gauls and Germans over the centuries . In general, these conquests and conversions cultural in nature and not genetic . Usually only a few thousand people come over and they remain more among themselves and when they are defeated they often go back or are dead The same can be seen in Spain, Kathago , East Rome, etc.
Still, the Prussian kings had the German language after 300 years Germanization bring to a share of over 50 % and even after 1.WW many people strict Germanization have seized upon well 100 years no clever spoken German . The German Order was a warrior army , such as the Vandals in Carthage. Military interesting. Cultural maybe , genetically impossible.
Bruessow is the capital of Uckermark. The Polish and Slavic influence is therefore not indispensable. The name is a blend of cultures and we are talking here of Brandenburg. The Germans actually had always lived rather only up to the Oder and only then came the Slavs sometimes over and sometimes the Germans.

Prussians were a tribe of the family of the Balts. In 1222-1223, the Polish prince could not conquer them (under the pretext of spreading Christianity, as in all of Europe in those days).
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teutonic_Order
In 1228, Konrad of Mazovia invited the Teutonic Order to its lands, so that from its territory they would lead the conversion of the Prussians to Christianity. The Order, however, did not fulfill the contract. The Order declared obedience to the local bishop of the Prussian lands. Gradually, the Order created its own state in conquered areas, bringing German settlers (which he did throughout Europe, where he gave the Order lands - eg in Romania and Hungary). Then, from the conquered Prussian areas, they invaded the Christian Livy and Christian Poland. With time, they turned into a secular state called Prussia. They had nothing to do with the original Prus tribe. They occupied them (Prussian tribe) lands, took their name, kept German language and culture.
During the annexation of Poland in 1939 and the incorporation of lands into the Third Reich, settlers from Germany came to the villages and towns. They chose a home. The Polish family had one hour to take things and had to leave. Nobody cared that they had no place to go. Nobody bought their home. They were thrown out of him.

The origins of the Prussian State are quite interesting. The Prussians were a Baltic people, and among the last pagans of Europe. After the Crusaders were kicked out of Palestine, many German crusader knights went to convert the Prussians (and massacured many), then proceded to set-up a Middle-Eastern styled state with a strong central bureaucracy, which was quite unique in medieval Europe. Centuries later, the Prussians pioneered standing armies and public education.

This is a helpful visual when learning Prussia's history. Which I want to learn about because Prussia interests me so much. True the interest started as liking Prussia in Hetalia but after hearing a little bit about his history made me obsessed with not only the character (Prussia is the cosplay I commit too, rarely being any other character except maybe Izaya and his alts) but also the history of Prussia. After learning half of my German side of the family had come from Silesia, my mom and I looked at the area they lived and looked at when they came over and at that time it was part of Prussia which made me happy. (I rather identify as Prussian than American tbh...). Also learning the history makes me feel like my characterization of Prussia when I cosplay him is a lot more canon (Hetalia canon=historical proof) since the best Hetalia cosplayers I've met know the history of who they are and the countries they interacted with, in much detail.
Also watching this video shows visually that the heart of Prussia (the start) now belongs to largely Russia but a little bit to Poland and Lithuania. Which is kinda ironic considering the character Prussia was the teutonic knights (in real life the first Prussia was taken over by the teutonic knights then creating the basis of future Prussia) which main targets of "converting" (bullying) was Russia, Lithuania, then Poland once he was joined with Lithuania. How much more interesting history becomes when instead of learning facts about random dead people you're learning the history and life of characters. XD

Between 1914-18 the German Emperor William II was also King of Prussia. In the second Reich (1870-1918) Prussia was the largest state in the Empire, covering most of Northern Germany and present day West Poland. In 1918 the Second Reich was abolished, but Prussia contiuned as an administrative State of Northern Germany. This continued until the fall of the Third Reich in 1945, when the Allies at the instigation of the US abolished Prussia. The previous name 'Brandenburg' was re-adopted.

Coming from direct Prussian ancestry, I can say that this is a fine depiction of what happened. But you didn't mention that Bismarck actually united the German states to create The German Empire. Along with a bit of help, he was technically the one that made Germany happen. Great video though!

      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Prussians

After Bismarck Prussia was no longer alone, it was considered Germany. So after WW1 and WW2 the allies blame Germany, not Prussia (Even thou Prussia is a smaller entity within Germany)
Prussia ended after the Prussian-Franco war which unified Germany under Bismarck, who was a Prussian.

But why the fuck did the Communists decide to revert the Polish fiefdom borders, when they never held Pommerania long enough for it to be Polish.
I am also sad Königsberg Castle is completely destroyed, really, you can call Kaliningrad a separate city to Königsberg because they look eternally different.

Quick summary No.2: 4) In the period 1815-1848 Prussia and Austria now the two most important states in the German Confederation. Prussia dominated Northern Germany and Austria everything to the south. There was no 'Emperor' but the Austrian Emperor acted as the Chairman of the Confederation so was nominally in charge. 5) Post-revolutions of 1848 - Prussia and Austria tried to gain ascendancy in Germany. 6) Rivalry virtually resolved in 1866 when Prussia removed Austria from the Confederation.

Read my summaries. If 'Prussia' isn't being taught at your school then you have a serious flaw in your curriculum and your have a serious flaw in the teaching staff at your school. This is where we're going seriously wrong with our history education in England today. This stuff was standard back in the 1970s when I took O levels and A levels, and helped me in my BA (Hons) degree and further with my MA and PhD.
