Katsunori-sensei is the MAN when it comes to demos. With just a few notes, a patch comes to life in a way you might not have expected. And he uses lots of wonderful notes!
this man is a legend! all other reviews I haven't been that sold on this synth but he's chose great presets to work with and he's very talented at playing!
Amazing Intsrument , just got one, so easy and fun to play, awesome sounds out the box, pressure sensitive!!! i'm no synthesist but i truly believe in the potential of this instrument, best bang for the buck in my opinion, a keeper for sure!
I own one of these and it’s probably my favorite synth ever. It’s so powerful and sounds so good. It’s also got that German utilitarian design that I love.
.. Merci beaucoup Mister Katsunori ;)
The blofeld has a very unique GUI the screen detail on the parameters of the filters, lfos, modulator matrix and oscillators helps a lot. The large screen is very usable but takes some time to fully exploit the depth of the feature on it. its a good balance between sound flexibility, programing, hands on control, and build quality (all metal).
I bought Waldorf some time ago, it's so powerful that I can't handle it properly yet :D It's amazing synthesizer, maybe now I will be able to make some simple BGMs to my projects ^_^ The movie itself is done with attention and preparation to show best things about Waldorf, I like it ^_^
i sold my blofeld desktop and Keyboard due to the bugs. but i am looking for another keyboard because i cant get over the loss of the SOUND. i will put up with whatever little bugs it has because the sound of the blofeld is just so good. and the keybed felt so good. i have a Pulse 2 and its awesome but the Blofeld gives everything a run for its money. AND THIS GUY IS A GREAT PLAYER!~
Did you update to latest OS? I didn't experience any bugs with latest update. Would rather have a Waldorf Q+ though, would they be cheap and reliable...
Analog is surrounded with hype today, and a lot of people jumped into the wagon forgetting or never knowing that digital sounds excellent and sattisfying too.
Just bought this beauty, so far no problem. My only concern is that the reverb sounds really bad. The rest is rock solid, so far no lag or hang, definitely satisfied with my purchase.
I think this would be perfect for synth in a metal band. I need a board that has exception synth sounds so I don't really want a motif, but it's nice you can bring up a piano for an intro or something. You don't really need amazing pianos in metal anyways with all the processing and distortion already taking place.
clarius1973 That is actually the sound I spent yesterday emulating on my fa08! All my life there have been these individual, unique patches like that that made me pine for what is otherwise belt and suspenders for my rig.
@culturaleyes Basically, yes, and with activated 60 MB of flash ROM samples, so you don't need to purchase Licence SL as you have to do with desktop Blofeld.
I like my Blofeld, but I don't love it. It has a huge sonic variety, but the sounds are very thin sounding usually. I might enjoy it more with a good chorus plugin. The presets are very uninspiring to say the least, but you can get some good stuff programming it.
@GreifDich I never meant to imply you were a Tanzmusikant :) (sorry to all non-german speakers) About the piano: If you want a good piano sound, the sample option is not for you, it's great for experimental sounds, less for recreating real instruments. Better hook your Blofeld up your PC and start a software piano. Like CVPiano from Tascam. It's free, just search for it. Have fun! :)
M. Molli Blofeld has a fatar keybed. All steel construction. Built like a tank, and a better keybed than any other synth I own. It is my primary MIDI keyboard for that reason.
Samples are a part of the blofeld keyboard version and the SL upgrade to the small version. there is no REAL piano, though, but you can (in normal voice dial mode) choose the category "keys" and scroll through the key sounds. There are some really nice e-pianos in there. Don't forget to turn category off afterwards :) No piano because... it's a Waldorf Synth! No Piano and brass and strings for tea dance musicians ;) And it's one of the best synths I ever had. Love it, it will love you back! :)
@YuzoTibi ih yes at least I can. fat synths sound fat in bad quality too. I've experienced that all modern synths lack physical punch because their sound is adjusted to be clear over all.
Haha, yes, in that sense, it doesn't matter that it's digital. But for me personally, with synthesizers, it does. My first synth was digital, but now that I have an analog, I will never buy another digital synth. It's just not the same. You can definitely hear the difference
@MomoTheBellyDancer not that I complete disagree with you, but being able to make your synth sound fat has nothing to do with being a musician. at all. Actually most musicians don't know jack about synth programming.
Please, please, tell me is there any synth with the same characteristics (mb even the same synth) BUT with 61 or more keys... It's really amazing model.
@TheUnknownWords In the ensuing six years, I assume you figured it out but just in case anyone else has the same question, here's an overview of the desktop version: ruclips.net/video/AqnGOySWkg0/видео.html Connect your choice of controller -- you may want to consider one with aftertouch because the Blofeld supports it -- and have fun!
There is a default piano preset on the blofeld, find the harpsichord patch, I think it's labeled clavi or something along those lines, once there, adjust filter 1 to piano. There you have it. If you like more detail you can always tweek it with envelopes and oscillators, but the general piano is there. All you "true" analog fans, are simy just fans not synthesists, sorry to burst your bubble, you can't appreciate a piece of gear by simply watching RUclips vids. I agree that most digital synths sound like shit, especially sub $1000 korgs and Roland's, and the cheesy uninspiring sound of novation synths, but then it's just me, others will have their own opinions on these. VA synths like blofeld, Virus, and Nord Lead are far more original than your piece of true analog gear. And I love moog, korg ms series, and doepfers, but in all honesty unless I had a crap load of cash and a lot of room, I'm not investing in all true analog. Blofeld's a pretty sweet little synth, well made and paired with a sequencer, sky's the limit.
Amazing man!!! In his hands every synth becomes an extraordinary machine!!
Katsunori-sensei is the MAN when it comes to demos. With just a few notes, a patch comes to life in a way you might not have expected. And he uses lots of wonderful notes!
+keytar00 Sure seems like it. As most demos are not inspiring, you have to feel this guy has a real gift for it
this man is a legend! all other reviews I haven't been that sold on this synth but he's chose great presets to work with and he's very talented at playing!
The best synth-tester on the whole internet
Only after WC Olo Garb, but being second to him is nothing but an honour.
Couldn't agree more !
@@ropeburn6684 Agreed 100%. My fellow Polish guy is a genius, or quite close to being one.
Amazing demo. This guy has amazing talent on this machine, but i lost it at 8:30 Sounds beautiful, but that name man... 10/10 would buy
Would be great see a new demo of this great synth 😍
Amazing Intsrument , just got one, so easy and fun to play, awesome sounds out the box, pressure sensitive!!! i'm no synthesist but i truly believe in the potential of this instrument, best bang for the buck in my opinion, a keeper for sure!
I own one of these and it’s probably my favorite synth ever. It’s so powerful and sounds so good. It’s also got that German utilitarian design that I love.
Do they still produce/sell this synth?
Une démo d'une très grande qualité, comme toujours ! ... the guitar part around 4:30 is unbelievable, not only the sound is terrific but the part he plays, it is just amazing....
Waldorf makes outstanding synthesizers. Respect.
Grazie Maestro! Ho appena scoperto questo gioiello e ne ho comprato uno. Grazie!!❤️
Thank you Ujiie-san! Really great demonstration & I just purchased this keyboard, thanks to you. It seems very versatile and a joy to play.
Katsunori genio assoluto...riesce sempre a trovare la musica migliore per ciascun suono.
Katsunori has the best synth demos I've seen!
Yes, these are the presets! But you can easily change the parameter (like filters)
The blofeld has a very unique GUI the screen detail on the parameters of the filters, lfos, modulator matrix and oscillators helps a lot. By far the best Blofeld video on RUclips. Thank you!
i sold my blofeld desktop and Keyboard due to the bugs. but i am looking for another keyboard because i cant get over the loss of the SOUND. i will put up with whatever little bugs it has because the sound of the blofeld is just so good. and the keybed felt so good. i have a Pulse 2 and its awesome but the Blofeld gives everything a run for its money. They are still fixing bugs ( which is a good sign 10+ years on )...the latest 1.25 fixed the encoder issue. My machine is flawless, finally.
Paired with my Kawai K5000S? A union of unimaginable beauty, I'm sure.
Just got the Modular version yesterday. I'm lovin' it!!
They're still manufacturing it??
@@jeshkam Yes. I ordered mine from Sweetwater.
@@rickr.mortis4821 Thank you.
Aftertouch sensitivity is set per patch via the mod matrix basically, FWIW there are a bunch of velocity curves also in the global settings.
Analog is surrounded with hype today, and a lot of people jumped into the wagon forgetting or never knowing that digital sounds excellent and sattisfying too.
Blofeld is still the go-to hardware synth for atmospheric sounds.
Great demo, not many demos in youtube show the samples.
I like the "Thriller" sounding sound. Thanks man! You are a beast!
that sound is from "Beat It" not Thriller
brilliant a half of a century in that thing!
Just bought this beauty, so far no problem. My only concern is that the reverb sounds really bad. The rest is rock solid, so far no lag or hang, definitely satisfied with my purchase.
Fantastic and beauty melodies, harmonies ... What are you playing in this video?
that guitar part is so epic. nice synth
Great demo!
Thanks
I like this guy's spirit.
this guy really does the Waldorf justice!
I got the blofeld when it cane out in 08..great synth
Ujiie is so wonderful
He could sale a Bontempi !
:-D

Blofeld or Ultranova? sound quality. Thanks for your reviews!
Both
Thanks for demoing this. I will get the desktop version. Very nice playing :D
from 7:36 to 8:03 STUNNING sound.
clarius1973 That is actually the sound I spent yesterday emulating on my fa08! All my life there have been these individual, unique patches like that that made me pine for what is otherwise belt and suspenders for my rig.

Yeah, me too. For the time being, I use analog for drums and bassline, and my digital for things like pads.
Are you playing in " multi mode" using 3 midi channels? I would pay more for 4-6 outputs!!!!!
Waldorf Blofeld will be my next ^^ .....need that sound
Thanks for your reply.
great wavetable sounds :D
@GreifDich
I never meant to imply you were a Tanzmusikant :) (sorry to all non-german speakers)

I didn't understand a word, but he made a good job. Blofeld sounds exellent :)
I love your demos! :-) Would you like to review my Fairlight Platinum ReFill for Reason 6?
@doom705 it sounds good though dude, sometime you want that digital sound
Hi, how would you rate the quality of the keys compared to other cheap feeling keyboards like Korg X50 for example or others in the price range?
M. Molli Blofeld has a fatar keybed. All steel construction. Built like a tank, and a better keybed than any other synth I own. It is my primary MIDI keyboard for that reason.
Is this basically a desktop blofeld with a keyboard attached?
Samples are a part of the blofeld keyboard version and the SL upgrade to the small version.

Waldorf Blofeld Keyboard = very good synth!
Thank you for this demo.
You are a great musician - but I prefer sounds of the Virus TI Snow! I wish the Virus snow did a 'small' keyboard like this
Sound @ 2:05 is great!
@YuzoTibi ih yes at least I can. fat synths sound fat in bad quality too. I've experienced that all modern synths lack physical punch because their sound is adjusted to be clear over all.
lead at 2.36 was the same used in MJ’s Thriller.~
Will these patches sound just as good one they're translated into english?????
This is a good demo, but on many sound this synh does have something in the high medium that i don't like.
@trisky1234 Because they all started on 1970's Electones!
What is the pedal you are using?
Well.. I'm sold.
@MomoTheBellyDancer oh ok lol. Me too. I'm aspiring musician though. Learning.
this thing cost much less than nord lead 2x ,but can do much more..
i wish i saw this beast before getting lead 2x....
Whats the difference between the white and the black other than the colour?
Kyle Handy No difference I would say.
@TheShledge no i wish the filters were analog.
Love it, now i need some money :P
Very true.
TOP !!!!!!!
@nairobibeats
Correct!
the pad 5:42 .....AMAZING !!
2:39 in we have the start to beat it from Michael Jackson!
Haha, yes, in that sense, it doesn't matter that it's digital. But for me personally, with synthesizers, it does. My first synth was digital, but now that I have an analog, I will never buy another digital synth. It's just not the same. You can definitely hear the difference
Personally I like to have both digital and analogue and use them together
I don't own this synth, but how do you make the patch at 2:32? Is it using wavetables or what?
The patch is using oscillator sync and lots of detuning or phaser effect.
Just buy the desktop version and use any 61 key midi controller you'd like.
I hate that nord lead only have that 1 effect which is the delay. :(
the best thing about this video is the wristwatch
great vid!
Do any one know the size of this thing? I been searching like over the hole web.
7:45 pad yeah!!!!!!!!
nice playing man!!
@MomoTheBellyDancer not that I complete disagree with you, but being able to make your synth sound fat has nothing to do with being a musician. at all. Actually most musicians don't know jack about synth programming.
@kokeklasick I don't think it's thinner than any digital synth, fatter then lots althoguh you may not perceive it in this video
How to get out of multi mode ?
sounds like ulrich schnauss at the begining. Almost exactly the same as one of his songs.
He's like the most square excited dorky dude ever.
Why do I always end up here while looking at synthesizers?
Please, please, tell me is there any synth with the same characteristics (mb even the same synth) BUT with 61 or more keys... It's really amazing model.

It's way better than those keyboard, doesn't feel as floaty and cheap as them.
