As an long time Waldorf user (since 90's) I thought to make demo of Waldorf Blofeld (keyboard). It's not one-shot patch demo. It's bunch of multitracked microtracks. So you probably find better demos for individual sounds. I wasn't going to do one-track demo but short tracks mixed so well together, so it came 24 minute ambient-type song.
Every short song are played straight to the audio. No MIDI, sequencing, arpeggiators or metronome used. Everything is coming from Blofeld. Not sure but sounds should be factory patches which I edited a bit and used realtime controllers like aftertouch and modwheel + knobs for filters, envelopes and effects. I used only patches which imo sounded good or was inspirational.

This is WHY we buy instruments...Because in really good hands, these instruments show us their real power, in good hands, with a lot of good taste for the music (you have it my friend) they inspire us in a way I am sure many of us never thought Blofeld was a powerful tool...But yes, oh yes! it's a beast! and with a ridiculous price...I am searching for mine...Thank you!

7 years later... damn this is an incredible demo!
The only demo that shows deep capabilities and originality of this synth, made with taste and skills. All other demos mainly show how it can replicate very common sounds, which is boring and takes me immediately away from this synth, but this video... is another story.
This is very relaxing to listen to .. it’s making me very lethargic 😌

Yes, outstanding work to show the full power of Blofeld. I'm lucky to have this synth, but still no time to start to program it. I've just checked the factory patches and they are crap, but thanks to this superb demo I'm sure - this synth can bring exactly what I expected!
+oscillator it's been always the problem of many Waldorf synths...incredible sonic capabilities but terrifyng factory presets...see also the Quantum

OK. Maybe, maybe, but I'm not so sure about this. There is some custom work definitely :)
@@_oscillator I think the reason is: when you create a sound from scratch, you know how and when to use it, and it fits the "space" for it in the tune. And when you use factory presets - they can sound good by themselves, but it's harder to fit them in your music. That's what I'm facing when producing. Peace.

my friend. this is just so special. I regularly go looking for the blofeld sound demos because they have both an innocence and cleanliness to them that can't be enjoyed elsewhere. I think it must be a palette cleanser from not only the nature of mastered music - it being inflated and imprinted by various effects and plugins, but also from analog synths as well - with their typical tonal fluttering and idiosyncratic filters. Of course digital sounds are very much unfavored for lacking these qualities, as well as the fact that additive and FM synthesis tends to sound very sterile, cold and quite unfamiliar. Alas, this is also a virtue, and I personally love the possibilities permitted by FM, even though the blofeld doesn't have the most extensive options. I suppose this actually limits the overall articulation and sonic timbres available, which is somewhat of a plus. along with some romplers or emulations of classic FM keyboards, I think i'm going to purchase a blofeld soon, and endeavour to make similar work to this. I thought about instead getting a Hydrasynth, or possibly just using plugins, but this synth seems to have something that they do not - a sheer purity or quality to the soundsets. I actually think it will serve myself mostly, as I don't think many people are on the look out for new blofeld patches or will listen to this very particular kind of music, but alas. I really have to say thank you for having gone to the effort here.
i understand its innocence and purity as well. theres some incredible sounds going on here that are healing to me. i dont know what else it can do but im sure it can be beautiful.

This is so beautiful, it’s uncommon with 16 layers of multitimbral synths these days
Mind was blown at 21:33, crazy patch!! Wow this is one of those hidden gem synths!! Great demo of it, the sounds are very rich and have alot of character and depth! Honestly I have owned the quantum and I would argue, this is right up there with it, as far as overall quality, somehow this even sounds a bit richer!!
Very beautiful. This demo, along with Pulse Emitter's demo, are the two best Blofeld demos I have ever heard.

I've owned a Blofeld now for just over a year. At first, I thought I had made a mistake in choosing the Blofeld over the Behringer Deep Mind. Not now! The Blofeld is a stunningly "DEEP" synth and Sample Playback. So unique and so beautiful

Very beautiful. Sondwise and playing. The Bofeld is such a nice and versatile instrument, from sugar sweet to extreme brutal. I love that thing. Must program it more, you inspired me again. I too often sit and tweak plugins instead of the real things. Thank you.

Nice motivated demo....i love Blofeld ! Thats is amazing engine architecture for sound.
I think the Blofeld is probably one of the best synths there is, dollar for dollar.
Desktop version costs $499, new. (& even less, used) IMO there's no other synth in the $400-$500 range that is as powerful or sounds as good as the Blofeld.
Yes of course...i have two Blofeld..its truth...Blofeld ist like future sound. This demo is main evidence.

The way you describe the way the image was created is exactly one of the ways I want to use Blofeld. I don't think it's wrong - to catch sounds complicated. How many guitarists are retuning the instrument to their liking - even if they can? A one of thousand or less? :-) Retuning an instrument doesn't mean creating a whole new sound. I think that when J.S. Bach sat down with a quill pen behind the harpsichord, that he did not drunk with the novelty of the sound, but simply happy and excited, he used the possibilities of what was offered to him - as it was :-)

I've had a Waldorf Blofeld for over a year now. It is my favorite synth of all time. I love making ambient and experimental patches on it. I get lost for hours playing it, and it's the most personal instrument I've ever used. This synth is very underrated in my opinion.

I am seriously considering getting a waldolf blofeld , I've narrowed things down to Hydrasynth explorer, Korg Wavestate or Minilogue XD or this one . I will go to a store & try one out & compare it. Important how it plays. I've tried a few recently & the build & feel of keys put me off, but i believe this little beast is good to play. Appreciate ant comments , thoughts. thanks .

I've had my Blofeld desktop version for a few months now I absolutely love this synth. It is unfortunate that I have to send it back to Sweetwater so I can get a new one. The cutoff knob is completely dead intermittently. I wish these issues were resolved but I guess they never will be. Its a shame because this is an instrument I would like to keep my whole life. This synth had its own beautiful unique sound. If anyone has a permanent fix for the encoder problems id love to hear it..

@@fantasyproduct1042 Hi - I am not referring to the knob although I did say knob, it is the rotary pots which are not good, they are sloppy and may stop working.

Ventsislav Dyankov thanks! I had desktop version before and it had jumping encoders. This has been working well for few years. No any issues.

Desktop or piano version? I hear the desktop has issues crashing? I have an Arturia Keystep MIDI keyboard controller and was wondering if that is good enough or is the keyboard version of this better somehow? Can anyone answer this?
Elaine D briefly played the keys version, felt really good, i think semi weighted. supposed to be identical other than that synth wise. one of the best keybed i’ve come across other than like weighted electronic piano type things.
Excellent demo. Since you are a long time Waldorf user, do you have any advice for replacing the knobs on the Blofeld? Mine don't respond very well anymore.
Aristotle Kumpis I never had problems with knobs in any early Waldorfs. I think they were really well built quality instruments. Desktop version had jumping encoders but then I got keyboard which is working fine. I’ve read that capacitors could help but I’m sorry I really can’t help with this.

I am a lifelong guitarist but am looking to get into synth music, this one in particular, but have no idea if I should just buy it and hook it up and learn (my PC's soundcard? buy a keyboard amp?) or what - hard to find tutorials on this stuff anywhere. I find MIDI controllers and software (beyond basic mixing and recording) a huge time sink I'm not sure I want to get into yet, so am looking for a hardware solution I can learn on and play with basically...

I am really considering getting a Waldorf Blofeld. However, I have found that their is encoder problems with the knobs. Has anyone experienced this? Does is happen to every Blofeld? How long until the encoders typically fail? Is there a way to permanently fix this problem? Thank You!!
Can't speak to failure rates, but as a Blofeld owner, I can confirm the encoders aren't the best out of the box. There's a breakdown video somewhere on RUclips that shows it's due to a weird manufacturing decision/oversight that leaves a residue underneath the pots that causes them to operate less smoothly than one would like. The point of the video was to demonstrate how this can be remedied by cleaning the pots themselves, but unfortunately it requires that you disassemble the unit beyond the point of voiding the warranty, so I don't think a lot of people (myself included) do it. All that said, it's a wonderful synth, as this video clearly shows, and this pot/encoder issue doesn't impact the internal board and if I remember correctly it doesn't really impact the longevity of the pots - you just might jump a digit or two more than you were intending when turning an encoder sometimes, nothing that can't be compensated for. I'd highly recommend grabbing one.
I've had mine for two years and I've had no encoder problems with mine, it been getting regular use as well. Personally I think they have been using theirs to harshly hence the encoder problems.

Actually not 100% sure but it's possible they are not stock ones. Maybe someone who has bought new Blofeld can say. This was 2nd hand.

Most of theem are probably factory sounds which I edited more or less.
