The knock at 2:38 had me looking at my garage door thinking someone was trying to come in 😂 I really like the execution of the quick change screen... Price seems high for a heater and features that only "kind of" work. Hopefully Phrozen can fix the light flashes with an update because the built in timelapse feature is so awesome. Great video and review as always VogMan!
Many thanks. It's important to remember everything DID work, but I just think these things could work that little bit better, and hopefully these are firmware issues 😁
Great to hear from you UJ. It has quite a price tag, but it's clear they've thought this through. There's no after-market add-ons here. Everything was planned to be just so before it was ever built. That's nice to see... especially as Phrozen have been slow to do anything other than revamp their old successes for a couple of years now.
Hey Vog, some people complain heaters cause print lines, did you encounter this problem ... i wanted to buy elegoo mini heater but ive seen people complain it produces print lines in every print.
No, never had that issue. I guess problems are possible if you don't let everything warm up to the correct temperature first. But I just leave things half and hour, or an hour if there's a big temperature difference, then set things running. I genuinely wouldn't be without a heater 😁
No, actually, that's quite interesting. I did ask them if I could review their heater as I'm such an advocate of their use. Strangely they told me there was a stock shortage. Maybe there is an issue...? For your peace of mind, I've had no troubles with the ChituSystems heater. Amazon UK ▶ amzn.to/42GtSGD Amazon US ▶ amzn.to/42xbz6A

Great review Geoff! Wow! What a printer! A company has finally listened to you and integrated all these great features into the one package. Yes it's expensive... but this is a complete package that is going to produce very detailed prints. Certainly more than enough detail for the average hobbyist, and even some professionals. Plus, the screen is now easily interchangeable. This is a printer that will last someone a very long time. Kudos to Anycubic and you too Geoff. I only have one minor gripe with this video... I was really expecting a funny sideline comment when you said, "...the turn of a big knob..." I mean, come on! Maybe it was too obvious..? 😁😂
I hate to say it Dan, but I've run out of nob innuendos. It's certainly getting hard. Maybe it's all the stiff competition. But missing such an obvious gag was clearly a cock up and my end 😁😁😁
I hope you'll have the chance to review the "new" Halot from Creality ... I must admit I'm not heavily invested in resin printing as FDM printing covers 99% of my needs. That said, I would appreciate one of your hands on review ... Keep up the great work ;)
Crumbs, that's expensive! Specs-wise it seems pretty much on a par with the M5sPro and the Saturn 4 Ultra, both of which are less than half the price! Forgive me if I missed it in the video, but can you send print files to it direct from Chitubox or is the wifi just for status checks via the app?
History says this will eventually be cheaper, the mini 8k was $600 or $700 when it was released. Now it's $485 on Amazon. It will be able to compete with the Uniformation GK. Good to see Phrozen and Elegoo trying to work in more features. Everyone needs to have a heater or at least the option for us cold climate folks.
I don't critique the critiques of others. We're all entitled to an opinion. It's up to the viewer to decide how valid that opinion is. My experience was positive. I can say in a workshop with an ambient temperature of 16C, the Revo stayed toasty warm which is what resin like. I've been experimenting with heaters for a number of years now, including building my own. I favour "enclosure" heaters over "tray" heaters as ultimately the latter loses heat and the former retains it, and I found the Revo's heater a reasonable enclosure heater (though I did offer a couple of comments I believe). Could it be better? Sure... but I've been campaigning for manufacturers to include heaters since the Mars 2, so I'm just grateful they're finally listening 😁
Planning to buy a new printer but still thinking should i spend such amount or should I go for Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra? This costing us three times money. What about quality. Do we get three times better quality?
Could the strobe effect be because it's an LED light? They flash on and off very fast, imperceptibly to us, but can be caught on camera like this due to the camera's shutter speed.
That's an interesting point. You may be right. But I film under LED lights and there's no flicker, so I'm not sure that's the answer. I do KNOW that the light turns off, even though I turned it on. So that seems more probable to me 😁
I'm looking to upgrade my mono x 6k, it looks like 2024 is quite packed with exciting new resin printers! Now i need to choose between this, upcomming elegoo's saturn4u and the possible release of anycubic m7pro?
Curious how you find the consistency of the GKTwo vs the Revo? Main thing that appealed to me about the GKTwo was it's apparent print consistency due to the vat heater. Do you find the same with the Revo and it's space heater?
How does that tilting lid design save space? You need quite a bit of space behind the printer (and mine is just a few inches from the wall behind it) in order to open the lid..so the required footprint is much larger than the physical printer and the wasted space is behind it, so it’s completely wasted, can’t even put a tool or gloves or anything else you need access to to keep them handy as they’re BEHIND the printer. When I remove my lid (Mars 4 Ultra) it either goes on top of my wash station or cure station…whichever one I’m not currently using. So it doesn’t really require any space…lift it up, move it a foot to the left or right then put it down…zero wasted space. Same thing with the new Elegoo Saturn 4/Ultra…I’ll take the 3 over the 4 for MANY reasons, the 4 just doesn’t appeal to me.
Right now I'd say yes. It's my new goto printer. In precision it will at least equal the D2, but I think there are visibly fewer layer lines with these 14K screens. So for jewellery casting, this means much easier clean up.
Thanks for the review! You mentioned the pixels are even more rectangular in this printer, is it noticeable in any way or does every angle look smoother than the mini 8K?
I've only reviewed two 14K printers, but both have been better than any 12K I've seen. I suspect the manufacturer knew something was off with the 12 and quickly developed the 14. It's much better. Hardly any layer lines. No sign of vertical artefacts
I bought this when it went on pre-order. Phrozen has been 1 company that has been reliable for me. I just wish I could find a good durable/flexible resin for mini's now.
Has it already started shipping? I pre ordered mine too but from a reseller because phrozen dont ship to every country in the EU and still waiting for mine :(
Can you also please tell me how long it takes to print the figures? I'm confused. The website says 400 layers per hour. But that's nonsense. It would take about a month to make a figure the size of a pack of cigarettes. If we take the layer size to be 0.01 mm. I need some real numbers to do my calculations and I'm at a loss.
How would you compare this with the Anycubic M5s Pro? They same to have many of the same features, but the Phrozen has some nicer quality of life additions. Are they worth the extra cost?
It has the same features, but the M5S Pro feels more thrown together, like an add-on heater that's nothing to do with the menu, etc. The Revo was well planned out from the start and an altogether better machine. But when it comes to printing, it's the same screen and the same performance.
@@vogman I bought my M5S PRO about 4 weeks ago after watching your and several other review videos. It is my first 3d printer and I have just hit 300 hours total print time as of today and couldn't be more happy with it. I really didn't like the idea of having to keep alcohol around so after I used the 2 bottles of resin that came with the printer I switched to their ABS like V2 water washable resin and I am really happy with it. Especially as I can use super hot water to assist with removing prints from the build plate which makes cleanup so so much easier. Personally having the heater as a seperate plug in extra and not intergrated doesn't bother me at all and it being able to stay on throughout the enitre print keeps the resin at a nice consitent temperature and viscosity. The only downside for me is if it was intergrated I could remotely shut it off if a print finishes whilst I am out of the house but that isn't a major issue. Considering I bought the M5S pro, Wash and cure 3 plus, optional cleaning kit, spare screen, pack of screen protectors, spare vat, pack of replacement vat film and a spare build plate for about the same price as the mighty revo costs on its own makes me quite happy with my purchase. Thanks for doing what you do VogMan, keep up the good work.
Yes and no. You can use it, sure, but I'd recommend lots of ventilation, so that means open windows at the very least. And whilst it's safe for you, I think a cat might jump in the middle of some nasty liquid that she really SHOULDN'T wash off herself...
The auto-levelling does appear to work. Every time the printer is turned on it goes through its checks and the first touch of the plate is very slow and precise - adjusting I presume. The screws are a safety feature. With the M5S, Anycubic took flack from old school guys wanting precision adjustment. With the M5S Pro, Anycubic answered this by reintroducing the screws. I think Phrozen just cleverly observed this.
Omg this is awesome finally an all in one the only thing is the price it’s a lot I wish their was a smaller one with all these features for 600 1000 is a tough pill to swallow
Very beautiful videos and package, but the residue detection makes false alerts, the heater aims at a not good enclosure cage, the camera and the lights just doesn't work properly... It's far better (and cheaper) the Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra. Use your marketing money in engineers, phrozen.
Elegoo saturn 4 ultra soon?! I just got my uniformation gk 2 a week ago, I'm enjoying it so far but saw the price of the saturn today and was impressed. I didn't see any mention of a heater in the email though...
Nova3d Whale Ultra heater does exactly the same, turns off once the printing starts. I asked them why, this was their reply hello, Friend, our heating system heats before printing, but does not heat during the printing process. Because the screen will generate heat during the printing process, printing will not fail due to low temperature. If it is heated during the printing process, the operating temperature of the screen will be too high, thus affecting the service life of the printing screen. Is that Phrozen's thinking or will they really update the firmware to rectify this?
Yeah, that's pretty much Phrozens approach here too. The problem is, it doesn't take into account the ambient environment. If it's already warm, it's not an issue. But if, like mine, your workshop gets cold, then it can have an impact. That's why I prefer a thermostatically controlled enclosure approach.
Im pretty excited for this printer. Especially for the heater and the auto leveling. But why are the no reviews out there for this machine jet? You seem to be the only one on youtube or generally the internet, who has received and reviewed one. With expected availability in EU for mid of this month, this seems odd to me.
I was excited for this one, then I saw the price.... Sale price€1.033,99 excl shipping on their official store. That make the GK2 much more appealing tbh, even with the quality of life stuff. Choices choices choices..... sigh.
It would be better that the vat be heated directly with a temp probe to come on and turn off rather than have an adjacent ambient heater which is less accurate.
Yes, but a hot vat and a cold enclosure leads to heat loss... for example, a cold plate entering warm resin. It's better for everything to be the same I think.
I also pronounce it, "All British." and I'm Australian. So a welcome update with the usual version 1.0 caveats, however the affiliate link posting comments gives me pause.
Please don't click the link if it bothers you. That's not my aim at all. There's a lot of RUclipsrs out there now asking for free stuff from companies and many will give glowing, positive reviews just to get more goodies, even if the item in question is a piece of junk. In other words, they don't mind wasting your money as long as they gain! This is unfortunate but true, and some of these channels are very popular. That's never been my approach. I tell the truth as I see it. This doesn't always make me popular with Companies and many would be happy to never hear from me again, I'm sure. Phrozen has made it clear to me that they need to evaluate whether my reviews actually earn them money (that's not my priority, but it is theirs). Hence their affiliate link.
@@vogman I've misinterpreted it I think. Now I realise how much of a cynic I've become :/ I'm going to have to work on that and I apologise for the misunderstanding.
How is the camera cable attached? Is it detachable? How is it kept out of the way? Can this feature be disabled? Phrozens website doesn't really seem to cover it. The page is also kind of annoying to tell the truth with a time delayed discount popup determine to get in the way taking up essentially the full screen on my mobile and auto playing a video halfway down the page offscreen with stupid advertising music. Just in case someone from Phrozen happens to read this, please don't do popups and autoplay videos offscreen (preferably at all) I personally hate them and they drive me away from the page.
@@vogman cheers appreciate the feedback. Shame as it seems an easy way to make it user serviceable. Could just add a standard USB port and sell camera seperately, making it cheaper for those that aren't interested in that feature.
@@vogman hey vog sorry for asking, but my last reply has been randomly deleted, something that is occurring very regularly for posts that I believe are completely benign. Anyway I was wondering if you have access to any information as to why posts get deleted on your channel. Thanks and sorry for off topic, hopefully you understand my motivation for asking. It's killing conversations.
I was expecting $500. I can't imagine this being 2X better than the $400 Saturn 4 pro. I can add my own heater for less than a hundred and I'll have a comparable printer that prints faster. Unless I'm missing something here? I bought the Frozen 4k when it came out and sold it right away as it had terrible build quality. It'll take a lot for me to trust this brand again.
Phrozen do enjoy separating themselves from the masses by charging more. It's a technique to say "we're better quality." I like this unit. I liked the quality. But with the Uniformation GK3 just around the corner and with Elegoo and Saturn about to launch new printers, I suspect Phrozen will be dropping this price soon in order to stay competitive.
@@vogman GK3 will be out of my price range, but I would love to learn all about it when the time comes, and patiently wait for others to copy their ideas. :) For the time being, I think the good old Saturn 2 is amazing for price/quality, assuming you're an experienced hobbyist. Who know how to debug the few quirks it has.
Why is the light source this $1,000 printer is using being hidden? No mention whatsoever by Phrozen, nor in this promotional video either. What's so hard about putting a piece of paper over the LCD and showing us the light source functioning on every infomercial you reviewers make of a new printer?
It's not something I've ever been asked to demonstrate if I'm honest. The light source clearly works well, otherwise I couldn't have achieved those amazing prints 😁
@@vogman Of course it works, so go ahead and print a thin rectangle .5mm thick, and the dimensions of the build plate area, and show us how amazing it looks with the grid on it that you didn't put there when it's washed and cured. Try not to break it into tiny shards when you're chiseling it off that etched build plate, :-)
I will always be very grateful for your videos, thank you very much. If I ever have money, I will end up buying it XD. By the way, for some reason, it's impossible for RUclips to notify me of your videos

Thanks for the review! Heating is nice, but not really needed and the detection features are usually turned off und useless overall IMO. Anyway, having competition is a good thing,, so probably soon we will have THE perfect resin printer.

The good thing is, everyone is free to buy what he or she wants, so - happy printing! Thanks again for you tests, really appreciate!

Friend, our heating system heats before printing, but does not heat during the printing process.
Nice thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Any update on the proposed firmware fixes?
Not yet. They emailed me at the time to say they were working on it, but nothing yet.
@@vogman
Thanks. I’m on the fence between the Anycubic Photon M3 Max, Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra and Sonic Mighty Revo 14k.
I was excited for this one, then I saw the price.... Sale price€1.033,99 excl shipping on their official store. That make the GK2 much more appealing tbh, even with the quality of life stuff. Choices choices choices..... sigh.
It's all about choices 😁😁😁
Great review Vogman 👍 what is the cost of that printer?
Pricey buddy, it's $999
@@vogman Yeah not just yet for John Boy!
phrozen almost never publish firmware upgrades! so you'll have the live with the bugs...
I’ll wait for the GK3, Nice features but $1000 for a Med size printer. I’ll pass
@@vogman You are probably right now thinking about it.
My workshop gets pretty cold and I've tried a few different things. I can't guarantee I'm right, but those are the results I found 😁
I also pronounce it, "All British." and I'm Australian.
No worries. Nothing wrong with healthy cynicism 😁😁😁
I couldn't see a way to disconnect the camera as it's behind the Z Upright. The cable is generous, but I'm not sure it's detachable.
Just another 14K printer, nothing revolutionary. Given the price, I expected more. Thanks for the video 🙂
That's true, but this one was well planned out and put together properly.
I like the printer but definitely not the price compared to other companies.
Phrozen have always been more expensive. They like it that way 😁
I was expecting $500.
Can't wait to get this one, just gotta save up a bit more
I will always be very grateful for your videos, thank you very much. If I ever have money, I will end up buying it XD. By the way, for some reason, it's impossible for RUclips to notify me of your videos
Saturn 4 pls
This week hopefully 😁
Thank vogman, your biggest fan from Pakistan. I order this as my first 3d printer for jewelry casting, now im struggling to find setting for the resin especially for Siraya tech purple or blue cast if you got any kindly help me.
Interesting
😁
For the prize i think the uniformation g2k is better
The GK Two was highly innovative in its time. Now it's getting a little dated and behind the times. I really hope we'll see a GK 3 😁
As a yank, it's still reevoe
That's what I like to hear 😁😁😁
This printer is way far better than the new Saturn 4 in my opinion
I'll be reviewing the SU4 soon 😁
I'm waiting for review :D
This week hopefully 😁
This week hopefully
Thanks for the review!
But for 999$ they can keep it - never gonna buy it. especially bcs its a phrozen printer. soon the new anycubic and elegoo machines will be released and for sure the price tag will be MUCH cheaper, at least half.
Heating is nice, but not really needed and the detection features are usually turned off und useless overall IMO.
Anyway, having competition is a good thing,, so probably soon we will have THE perfect resin printer.
It is pricey, but it's the best we've seen from Phrozen for ages, and they've deserve praise for that if nothing else.
@@vogman you can praise them ;) but my printers need to generate money, and the 300-400€ (AC and ELEGOO) printers doing the job nearly perfect on a 24/7 base in my shop without failures. and when you need a few of them the price difference is huge. The good thing is, everyone is free to buy what he or she wants, so - happy printing! Thanks again for you tests, really appreciate!
Thousand bucks? Really?
Yeah... Phrozen do like to think of themselves as the "Apple" of the printing world. I'm not sure that's warranted, but only the consumer can really answer that.
First! Ha ha!
Yes you are! Many thanks
oh phrozen, that company for which EU has only 5 countries... yes.. wait for me to buy, never
the worst customer service amongst the 3, hard to find and overpriced spare parts, awful software, you also cant trust a mighty series machine to not fall apart in 5 months time
Not according to my "real user" research. But feel free to add your own finding. www.vegoilguy.co.uk/3drpinput.php
Lol this guy is obviously from anycubic
Oh man, the easy change screen might be what sells me on replacing my crappy mono 6k that I can’t be bothered with anymore.
