The mandolin has strings on it and the first tune is played. Only two or three little things to take care of and then it will be ready to ship to its new owner.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I've built one F style mandolin from scratch with the Siminoff book and lucked out with the sound lots of raves from my friends . I made a lot of mistakes along the way but it was a great experience . I have three more 75 % done only because I had the wood and jigs made I'm not planing to make anymore after that . Just hoping one of these three will be special . Again , thanks for the Videos they've inspired me to get at it again . Cheers ! From Calgary .
It has been a joy to watch this series of videos and to marvel at the skill and dedication that goes into crafting such a beautiful object. Bravo Audey Ratliff.
Thanks for documenting this series, its been really interesting ti see how you go about producing a highly customised instrument. You have incredible patience to work your way through all of that intricate inlaying, and it shows your high level of workmanship that your tools didn't "slip" at any point! Looking very, very smart indeed. Thanks once again. Mike in the UK.
Wow! What a beauty! It has been a wonderful journey following you through the building of this incredible instrument. I so appreciate your talent and skill, sir! This is the most beautiful looking mandolin I've ever seen and sounds sweet in this video. Thanks, again!
Gosh, that would be a good subject for an entire 'how to' class! Basically, bend the wood around a hot pipe. I've seem to have better luck with curly maple if I don't soak it very long in water. Just keep it wet enough on the surface of the wood to stop the pipe from scorching it. Let the heat do the work. I know that's not much info, but hope it helps a little.
Its a real joy to watch a craftsman at work it must break your heart to let this fine instrument go great series keep them coming👍
