Ultrakill lore is pretty interesting too, to be fair. There's not so much of it that it gets in the way, but what is there is pretty imaginative and interesting. More worldbuilding really, but it's great nonetheless. The gameplay really does steal the show though.
absolutely this, honestly I stopped reading most of the codex entries since I got absorbed by all the obscure mechanics and stuff you can do with what's already in the game. Its not even like halfway finished and I've put more time into it than I did with Doom Eternal, which says a lot imo
This Is how much i know about lore: In a distant time, humanity went extinct by an unknown reason or being and only leaving their creations: the robots. One of the robots, V1 (also the one that we control), ventures through hell trying to get an answer to what or who was the one that extinguished humanity and through the books scattered around the game we get another story: Heaven was about to break war, Minos tried to peacefully sort things, which got him trapped in the Flesh Prison, King Sisyphus (from the Greed update) tried to make an army to smite heaven down, but the angels we're too smart and his army got destroyed and sometime later his troops ended up killing him in a rebellion that ended up with his army without a King, roaming around, without anything to do. That also shows that nothing stands a chance against Heaven
@@jacobzagal1448 I beleive minos was the reason lust is a giant city, as after god disappeared he led it into prosperity. But when the council was formed, they saw this as going against gods will and sent Gabriel to sort it out. Minos tried to reason with Gabriel but Gabriel just shit on him
I'm hoping that the next prime soul we will ever fight is king sisyphus, just like minos, created a revolution but ended up bad, and if the will of minos was strong enough to become prime, imagine the will of the king sisyphus, who charged to battle with an army against heaven

Ultrakill tec that happens in the video: 1) split shot. At its peak and while it is whistling, the coin will split your shot into two 2) coin parry. certain attacks can be parried using the coin. Most famously the malicious faces charge beam 3) dunno whats the name of this one is but you can toss a coin behind an enemy and penetrate the enemy with the rail cannon while also shooting the coin behind him. This will make the rail first hit the enemy then bounce and then hit the enemy again. By throwing a coin straight up before tossing a coin behind the enemy you can increase the bounce again on big targets. More bounces are possible but more complex 4) slam store/super jump. While sticking to a wall, slamming and immediatly jumping will cause your slam to not charge you downwards. And since slam power is calculated not by distance but by time it takes to land, your next slam jump will send you FLYING up. 5) coin juggling. This one has been patched...ish. Punching a coin will send it flying to an enemy dealing high damage. Punching the coin again will increase the damage further. If there are no enemies nearby the coin will go where you are aiming when you punch it. So you used to be able to punch the coin to a wall and juggle it there to get infinite damage on a single coin. In the current patch there has been a damage cap to the wall juggle but coins juggled on enemies wont have a cap on their damage 6) Super blast or smth i dunno. Shooting a core eject from a shotgun will make it explode in a bigger blast. Shooting the core eject with a malicious railcannon will make it explode even BIGGER. This explosion contains the combined effects of the core eject shot and the railcannon so if you are caught in the explosion it will launch you very far very fast. 7) V1 fortnight skin :O
My understanding of the lore based off of Hakita interviews and Monster logs (with a hint of headcanon in place of missing pieces): Tensions between the nations are rising, and as a weapon, combat-machines that run on blood are developed and produced. However, they were never able to have been put to use because of a piece treaty signed some time after their production. Things seem to be going good, when the machines gain sentience and obliterate mankind for fuel. After all non-machine life on earth is destroyed, most machines deactivate out of starvation except for a good handful who decide that going to hell is their best bet for survival. The V models along with all the other robot enemies go into hell with V1, V2, and Swordsmachine being high up on the food chain. V2 reproduces robots and modifies husks (Soldiers and Stalkers have modifications) as he goes in an attempt to make it harder for the others to survive and usurp the throne of hell. Swordsmachine stays at the mouth of hell taking out fodder enemies for easy kills, and inspires other robots to follow in his path (hence Agony and Tundra) with his extreme skill. V1 is late to the party and only cares about killing anything and everything. "Everything" being plentiful due to all the human souls killed in the robot wars having been thrown into hell. (I would talk about the Gabe and Lust lore but that's not too relevant to the main story)
