An important thing to remember is that no game will ever live up to its hype; especially a game like this which so many people have been wanting for years. I don't think that STALKER 2 will be flawless, I am sure that they will get a lot of things "wrong" especially with how the modding community has dedicated so much time to "reinvisioning" the game. A lot of people are going to have vastly different expectations, and I expect the initial backlash to be pretty notable. That being said, I think that there is a good chance the game will be "foundationally" sound and that modders can/will iron out anywhere that is perceived as "lacking". The game is looking beautiful, and it seems like it will capture that atmosphere of the original games. I think that is more important than anything; STALKER is known for breathtaking atmospherics that make your in-game experience feel real and immersive. I think modders can build off of that, even if it turns out the game is fundamentally different from what has become popular over the past few years (Anomaly, GAMMA, Gunslinger, EFP).
CP2077 release taught me very well to never get too hyped for a game again. I stay cautiously optimistic at best. If a game is genuinely great, it's just that much better since I had no wild expectations
The thing with the gunplay in the vanilla version of the original trilogy, but also in a lot of mods, is that weapons have a hit chance established in their individual config file. Most of them have 80% hitchance, while it's 70% for the shotguns, 90% for guns in 9x39mm (Groza, VAL, VSS) and a 100% for guns in 7.62mmR (SVD, SVU), the Gauss rifle and also for the knife. For mods, it was a custom of mine of setting the hitchance on all guns to 100%. It was a painstaking process, specially if the mod has a ton of guns, but it was worth it. It changes the game, it can make it either easier or harder depending on the situation because the hit chance works both ways. You can also tweak the ammo, like setting the number of proyectiles per shot, penetration, damage quotient, size of the shot impact decal, tracer or no tracer, things like that. There was mod (I think it was People's Soup) where you can get a PTRD-41, single shot AT rifle in 14.5x114mm caliber. It was my elephant gun of sorts, I used it to hunt pseudogiants. I tweaked its ammo config file and did in-game penetration tests on STALKERS. I made it capable of punching through two brick walls and hit the poor bastard on the other side, killing him. It was still pretty balanced as it was long, heavy, had ton of recoil and ammo was scarce.
I remember watching my Dad replay the stalker games when I was 6, I remember very little, but for some reason, that stuck with me. I've played through them all, it's unbelievable that there's another one coming out. My Dad and I will be replaying this one at least 5 times 😅
I remember seeing my dad play COP when I was a kid and was literally addicted to that game. I was around 8-9 years old when I originally played it, and only a few years later they announced this game. I was 11 when they announced it, I am 21 years old almost 22. I have literally been waiting for this game for half my life. I am so hyped for it!
to people watching this video do NOT skip clear sky, it is just as good as the others in the series, it's from people like this that the saying of "oh just skip clear sky" gets spread around so much, the issues with the game tend to be overexaggerated and i believed it, then once i actually played it the game turned out to be my favorite in the series and True Stalker for what it's worth is anything but, with no A-Life and the forced integration of Gunslinger it strays from what makes the classics what they are *not to mention the story falls off near the end
If anyone wants to try out Clear Sky but can't get past the godawful gunplay, try Clear Sky: ABR. It fixes most of the annoying bullshit of the OG while being 95% faithful to vanilla!
i have been playing stalker for maybe 2 years now and it just brings me so much joy when they announced stalker 2 i preordered it back in april and i will be looking forward to it also i will be looking forward to your vid drewski
i was kinda young getting into stalker, my computer was setup in an unfinished concrete basement with a freezer with those orange lights that flicker. my parents stored random stuff down there. but playing stalker there was freaky as hell. don't think i made it half way through. didn't help that i played mostly at night. but i'm excited for stalker 2. trying to not get sucked into the hype and just let the game come out and i enjoy it. looking forward for more drewski videos.
I just wanted to hop on and say thank you. This and your other recent videos made me grab the console version of the trilogy. I only had a little time but that first bandit camp with that little pistol (on Stalker difficulty) was truly a learning moment as I got game over a few times (also, learned to save). Even from the start the game has such good atmospheric it's incredible.
I found you from one of your STALKER Anomaly videos a while back and it got me into play Anomaly and GAMMA. Thank you for getting me into such an amazing series and I am happy to see a lot of the stuff I have grown to love in the games.
Thank you Drew for getting me into stalker last year (or two idk), it's been my favorite ever since and GAMMA is incredible. Looking forward to Stalker 2, and all it brings!
I love that you bring up Raycevick because not only was that his first video I found and it got me into STALKER. But also because I've always thought y'all sounded similar to the point of if you swapped channels for a video, I would think that y'all are either sick or got a new mic

Been rewatching all your stalker videos and then got gamma today and have done nothing but play it today and then like clock work this video comes out, perfection 👌

Jeez, this video could not have came at a more coincidental time. I was just relooking through your old stalker videos earlier and I had also decided to pick up the 3 original titles on steam (I have them on disk) and was playing SoC today lol. Super excited for Stalker 2!
I am excited to hop back onto the zone and explore her once more. As much as I love anomaly and the gamma mod pack I really am happy to experience a new story with some great graphics
Anomoly is the most terrifying game I've ever played. Not even because of the setting or the enemies but the overall atmosphere and lack of knowledge of whats going on really sends over the edge into being actually scary, and I'm not scared by any form of media or art generally, but Anomoly got me and it's my favorite game ever because of that. It's also the the only STALKER game I've played. I'm definitely gonna try STALKER 2 but I'm looking forward to a STALKER Anomoly 2 if that ever happens.
Playing through Stalker for the first time, thinking I had finished it (wish ender ending) i was kinda left underwhelmed. I didn’t realise I didn’t get the true ending so I went back, Thankyou so much! That last stretch was awesome. Never would have known OW! Take care! :)
i highly recommend playing through atleast Shadow of chernobyl from the original, it still holds up in 2024 and belongs among the greats like half life 2. the game manages to be incredibly immersive and athmospheric despite being 17 years old, the underground sections namely lab X-18 were genuinely fucking scary and had me slowly creeping up every room expecting some shithead to fly into my face screaming at mach 1
The feeling of being scared combined with the massive arsenal at your disposal gives that perfect feeling of "bravery", yeah youre scared but you know you can handle it, hard feeling to achieve in games as its usually either "scared to death" or "nothing can touch me"
Stalker Anomaly is what got me into the whole Stalker universe and I am thoroughly invested into it thanks to watching videos like these. Even DayZ has me wanting to try it out with Namalsk being a loving nod to Stalker. Hoping to try Anomaly and have some good (freighting) fun!
Excited for Stalker 2!! Just finished SoC last week and going through CS rn. I haven't played any of the games till the first trailer for Stalker 2 and still couldn't until the console release, been having a blast. If anyone has other recommendations for Stalker/Metro/Chernobylite type games please lmk, big fan of the setting in these type of games, highly appreciate it!
I can't wait for this to come out... I've played thousands of hours of Stalker (yes, I'm a huge nerd, the Zone is my happy place), seeing all the old locations in such glorious detail, it's all so exciting! Actually going to book days off work for this.
STALKER 2 VANILLA WILL BANG HIT YOU LIKE A BOOMERANG STUFF YOU CAN’T UNDERSTAND NO MOD WILL BEAT ITS RANK GAMMA, ANOMALY, MISERY LEAST NOT ANY OF THAT JANK
You should consider making a video showing your process for video/audio editing. Your voice levels and audio mixing is PERFECT. I want to know how much of it is mic/room setup, and how much of it is mixing. Compression is really hard to do while also keeping the dynamic range
I’m happy to see the actual graphics match up to what I’ve seen in my head for the last 15 tears, but I hope we get new locations to explore. I’ve played these games for so long that I can instantly tell you where a screenshot was taken.
STALKER (1979) is my favorite movie. STALKER Call of Pripyat is my favorite Stalker game. Misery was my favorite "mod". Such an incredible IP. Glad to see it getting the attention it deserves
I discovered stalker anomaly my first night in my first apartment. I only had my bed, computer, and desk set up. I was using the box my mattress came in as an office chair. I only had some pizza and energy drinks in the fridge. I was a "hobo" in the world as well as in the game. It was late Spring, and I had my windows open so I could let the cool night air in. The crickets outside made me feel even more alone and desolate. It was one of the most magical experiences I've ever had.
You know it's just so insanely cool when a game from my country actually becomes somewhat popular! And personally for me the STALKER series were special not only because of that you can do basically anything you want (like if you want you can literally kill everyone you see) but also that i grew up in similar places, like man i lived in the same buildings as in Pripyat and grew up with playgrounds similar to the ones you can see in STALKER!
Ukraine is a very cool country. I’ve always been so infatuated w/ the aesthetic and culture of it all. Just know there’s a lot of people here who think your home is a cool place!
I know what you mean. I felt the same way when I played True Crime Streets of LA. I spent half of my time driving to places that I know of in real life.
I felt the same way playing Fallout 4 in the Greater Boston area. :) I would ride my bike through Concord when I was younger, and it’s uncanny seeing those places reimagined.
I played the STALKER games for the first time in early 2023 and they were amazing. The first game still looks decent even now because of its somewhat Borderlands 1 Graphics style. STALKER Anomaly is incredible and combines the good things from all 3 games into one and everything is so smooth and fun. I like to loot in games like STALKER, Dying light 1 and State of Decay and I wish STALKER had a home base you needed to recruit people for and build up and get bonuses to take out into the field with you that would take it to a 12/10.
0:11 so we all thought, stalker 2 should be called delayed 4000 the day this game comes out marks the end of the world with more accuracy than the mayan calendar
I’d rather wait years longer, than get a bad unfinished game. Every game nowadays is unfinished, I’m hoping they don’t give into the pressure and instead only release when it’s perfect.
these guys made this game while there country was attacked by the "2nd biggest army in the world" and it still looks amazing, cant wait to try it and support those amazing devs
The best part is in their discord they had been taking suggestions on what to add, how to add it, or even any brand new ideas that might even be from GAMMA or such
I'll definitely play 2 for the story, but I do hope it has more refined features and qol like anomaly and gamma than the original games. Even the silly pretty things like all meds and items having usage animations would be awesome to see in base game.
I played this game since release and ONLY now I realise the AK loading handle is reversed in the game....Brass in the face since 2007. Also what's the music ID @ 12:28 ????
Yeah. Idk Anomaly and gamma are what I got into. That experience of just getting thrown into it was awesome. It’s like getting into the experience in real life you have no idea what to do at first until peace by peace you figure it out.
I bought rtx4070 after I saw new stalker2 trailer in 600mb/sec bitrate. It was a blast. And stalker2 will support dlss3, so you can expect 100+ FPS with RTX
I agree. Anyone seeing this, if you do not to take the time to play the originals, even modded versions, there are plenty of quality videos out there to get you caught up on the events leading up to Stalker 2.
@@michaelthompson5252 can you give examples? I don't got time to play the game + its coming in 2 days, and I watched one of the videos so i know the endings of all of the series but still want more information, could give me a good video to watch?
OD's summary is well appreciated. The core of the game is you, progression and the end result in terms of experience and lore. The originals were distinct from one another, and mods exhibit the same game philosophy. It's a recipe that allows for discovery where one doesn't have to rely too much on origin. Players will delve into the history inherently but the way the devs present their art really requires none to do so prior to, but more so after the experience because the presentation in all its forms is intriguing.

Now THIS guy gets it ☝️👍
CP2077 release taught me very well to never get too hyped for a game again.
Love throwing a drewski video on and eating a meal. W combo
That combo got me through college lmao
@@Mclovinsit lmao same

I remember seeing my dad play COP when I was a kid and was literally addicted to that game. I was around 8-9 years old when I originally played it, and only a few years later they announced this game. I was 11 when they announced it, I am 21 years old almost 22. I have literally been waiting for this game for half my life. I am so hyped for it!
The ex-monolith guy appearing in the Stalker 2 trailer is Strider, he plays a part in Call of Pripyat already :)
that trailer made me happy as it showed stalker 2 will elaborate on loose ends from CoP.
nobody mentioned the insane soundtrack, this game looks and sounds phenomenal. can't wait for the bugs.
Call of Pripyat OST was absolutely brilliant
Drum n bass, reggae, blues rock and alt metal all within the same game.
to people watching this video
do NOT skip clear sky, it is just as good as the others in the series, it's from people like this that the saying of "oh just skip clear sky" gets spread around so much, the issues with the game tend to be overexaggerated and i believed it, then once i actually played it the game turned out to be my favorite in the series
and True Stalker for what it's worth is anything but, with no A-Life and the forced integration of Gunslinger it strays from what makes the classics what they are *not to mention the story falls off near the end
I absolutely agree, I played the Stalker games when they came out and clear sky was my favorite one of the 3 game play wise
If anyone wants to try out Clear Sky but can't get past the godawful gunplay, try Clear Sky: ABR. It fixes most of the annoying bullshit of the OG while being 95% faithful to vanilla!
Clear Sky best in the trilogy, even with the bugs.
Scar is my favorite protagonist
I got hit in the head and knocked out so many times I barely remember the story.
i have been playing stalker for maybe 2 years now and it just brings me so much joy when they announced stalker 2 i preordered it back in april and i will be looking forward to it also i will be looking forward to your vid drewski
i was kinda young getting into stalker, my computer was setup in an unfinished concrete basement with a freezer with those orange lights that flicker. my parents stored random stuff down there. but playing stalker there was freaky as hell. don't think i made it half way through. didn't help that i played mostly at night. but i'm excited for stalker 2. trying to not get sucked into the hype and just let the game come out and i enjoy it. looking forward for more drewski videos.
thanks for doing my favorite game franchise justice
I can't believe you even read roadside picnic, a true fan
They are not bugs they are anomalies
“surprise game mechanics”😂
I just wanted to hop on and say thank you. This and your other recent videos made me grab the console version of the trilogy.
I only had a little time but that first bandit camp with that little pistol (on Stalker difficulty) was truly a learning moment as I got game over a few times (also, learned to save).
Even from the start the game has such good atmospheric it's incredible.
I found you from one of your STALKER Anomaly videos a while back and it got me into play Anomaly and GAMMA. Thank you for getting me into such an amazing series and I am happy to see a lot of the stuff I have grown to love in the games.
Try original games. Western mods lost slav atmosphere
@@gomogay972 I love the original games too, but saying that the mods "lost slav atmosphere" is disingenuous.
I literally bought all three stalker games on console the day they came out because of you Drewski. Watching you play Stalker was the highlight of my week and when I saw it on Xbox I was freaking out and bought it 😂
Drewski got me to play the old stalkers again, since the last few weeks. And it go so hooked again. Such a great series!

I recently got into the metro series from watching your stalker videos and I’ve NEVER liked single player games, but my god…metro is glorious. I’m so excited for their new one to drop

I HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED WATCHING BUT NEW DREWSKI STALKER VIDEO LET'S GOOOO
Anomoly is the most terrifying game I've ever played. Not even because of the setting or the enemies but the overall atmosphere and lack of knowledge of whats going on really sends over the edge into being actually scary, and I'm not scared by any form of media or art generally, but Anomoly got me and it's my favorite game ever because of that. It's also the the only STALKER game I've played. I'm definitely gonna try STALKER 2 but I'm looking forward to a STALKER Anomoly 2 if that ever happens.
Loved your old modded stalker videos! Though I’m still waiting on that complete 1-life run
he finished one of his 1 life runs. i can’t remember though if he started another one
The feeling of being scared combined with the massive arsenal at your disposal gives that perfect feeling of "bravery", yeah youre scared but you know you can handle it, hard feeling to achieve in games as its usually either "scared to death" or "nothing can touch me"
This is definitely the video to watch if your wanting to play any of the Stalker games. Great vid, love the Stalker games.
This is the earliest I’ve been to an OperatorDrewski video.

I expect a full playthrough of stalker 2 from you here on youtube when/after it releases!
I can't wait for this to come out... I've played thousands of hours of Stalker (yes, I'm a huge nerd, the Zone is my happy place), seeing all the old locations in such glorious detail, it's all so exciting! Actually going to book days off work for this.
I have been hunting for that book since I first jumped down the stalker rabbit hole you created with the best survival shooter and it's free vid.
You showed me modded stalker originally and I’ve had so much fun with Anomaly. Can’t wait to get into the Zone again.

True. I find Anomaly quite sandboxy as you arent forced down any path. Fun though. Gives you the right vibes!

I probably wouldn't have tried the original Stalker games, but I definetly enjoyed the hours I played anomoly after your first video on it.
I wish you made more commentary videos.
I'm just about to start my first run in Anomaly. After watching this I'm pumped AF!
🤦🤦 fake fucking fan

I agree. Anyone seeing this, if you do not to take the time to play the originals, even modded versions, there are plenty of quality videos out there to get you caught up on the events leading up to Stalker 2.

Such a reasonable, balanced and well thought out set of opinions. What kind you RUclips video is this?!
we cant really blame them for being late... there at war
