The fan kicks on at 65C. You can change when it turns on though.
1. Enter the menu and set the "SUB GAIN" to the lowest
2. Return to the main interface and turn the volume to the lowest
3. Continue to turn down the volume until the setting interface appears
4. Press the knob button to select the "fan on temp" option, and press the knob or the remote control up and down buttons to adjust the fan on temperature
5. Press and hold the knob to exit
wow thats a strange way to enter a menu, what is this Myst?
@@ZReviews Hello Z!
One question. If you only owned a DT 990 edition 600 ohm, which amp would you choose for it between the two? Liquid spark Vs sp200.
I know those two are different class amps but, the question is would the smsl sp200 make an audible difference for the extra cost?
A response would be greatly appreciated
@@ZReviews review fir M5 and final audio a8000
Nice to see the Rp-150m featured again. I bought mine shortly after your review and still love them. Every tike I get upgraditis I crank them real loud and realize how wonderful they are for my small space.
I miss when you used to open up the top of your amps in reviews and let us take a look at the guts. It would be interesting to see the difference between this class d and the A1 class A amp
I started watching 91 days last night. Damn seems like it’s right up the Z ally. An anime gangster series about bootlegging and revenge. Great soundtrack.
As soon as I saw Melody in the background, I knew this was going to be a serious amp.
You'd think they could implement a simple low end cut-off for the speakers when the sub out is in use. It's 2021 and I don't understand why SMSL, Topping, ect. aren't doing this (especially w/ higher priced amps). I mean Vanatoo has been doing it on their powered speakers since 2012!
Yes it only makes sense especially considering how powerful this amp is and it's also a desktop which is generally used for smaller desktop setups with small drivers. For $650 they should add a high pass
Please review some integrated amps, Zeos? Marantz PM6007
I checked what chip is inside, went online, and found: I can get bare chip board for 90 dollars from China. Just got it: maaan this thing is great: it has it all: power, refinement, details… Dac became so good and cheap it has become non issue. Now amplifiers too. Great! Now I can concentrate on what really matters: speakers and room acoustic. This amp is all I ever need!
Awesome, Z!
It sounds quite impressive with the NS1000M speakers that are like truth serum speakers. It compares favorably to my vintage behemoth P2200 and PC2002m 200+ amps as well as the MX-1 in terms of sonic character and clarity. As for the temperature, no issues once its set via the menu and few hours of loud volume in range of 80+ db only brings the temp to 52C.
That Bluetooth connection was awesome! lol
Love the way this amp powers my NS1000M speakers. To compare I have some vintage big amos the likes of PC2002M and 2200 as well as late 90s MX-1.
Tabebuia are speakers made by SMSL.
Aren't they tiny speakers for the desk? This amp could vaporise them. Can't wait for that video.
@@edwilliams3321 HIGH GAIN
I really want to hear those speakers.
I love the way Zeos spends a half hour talking, but never goes into detail about how it sounds. Is it bright, is it detailed, is it spacious, is there pinpoint imaging, is there much depth, does it sound real, or does it sound better than Class AB? Who knows. It's more of a review about features. And that must be what hundreds of thousands of followers enjoy about Zeos reviews.
You may want to get some vintage Apogee Speakers for testing high power amplifiers. They're VERY Inefficient . But sound great with super tweeters added and subwoofer . They're solid 3 ohm load.🤘😀
what lunatic mad scientist designed those?!
Jason Bloom & Leo Spiegel
There is a fan adjustment which can lower the temp. Don't know why SMSL doesn't make that info readily available.
Z could you review the denafrips ares 2?
💎
Great tool to have at home. For wave files. Does it have a USB input?
Once I place my wave files connected to a TV and then the TV to the amp and was a terrible sound. How you do it?
can u review the new topping e50
Can you review the IEM KZ ZAS. I would really like to hear your opinions on them. I want to buy them but I need your honest unbiased opinions.
For those of you who have this amp. If I connect a blue sound node/streamer to it. Would I need to use the amp to control volume or can I control it from the node? And does it have a standby mode or is it always active and hot?
How does the SMSL SA-400 compare to the new SMSL VMV- A2?
Does running active monitors through xlr heat up this amp or is that only running passive speakers
Hey, can anyone tell me how it sounds compared to the Cambridge Audio CXA81 ??
What speakers are you running in the video passive or active?
EQ setting for the mythical smsl desktop speakers :)
i already forgot, but i remember only tinkering bass
Is it a 5 way binding post? I need to use bare wires
should chech SMSL VMV top of the line 1000 dollars A2 class D amp. thanks
You can buy a purifi class D amp for $400 more and have 250 watts @ 4 ohms with a Sinad of 108dB. You can do even better if you bypass the default input buffer with a high quality preamp output. The sinad for the sa400 is 81dB.
Point me to that direction please.
@@AbsoluteFidelity VTV sells a base Purifi stereo amp for $1069.
If you need the power. The better SINAD is not at all worth the higher price unless you are more into measurements than sound.
@@Uebelkraehe the measurement differences are substantial, to the degree that the 1et400a would clearly sound better with suitable speakers and source. The sa400 gets hot which is not good in terms of long term reliability. Capacitor lifespans decrease substantially with increasing temperatures. To me the 1et400a is an excellent value, while the sa400 is of mediocre value due mostly to reliability issues.
@@yeahright3733 Nothing but speculation and half-knowledge concerning electronics on your part.
XTZ Edge A2-300 seems to be about the same price. Thoughts?
Similar performance w/o the EQ & Bluetooth settings and DAC that the smsl comes with
But what about Hyperbass?
58 degrees is not hot enough to damage electronics. you shouldnt be worried if it's not over 70-80 degrees
Maybe the tabebuia is like the RCOCK on the other SMSL. SMSL has some crazy person who likes "easter eggs" or spelling is a problem for them.
Did you know harmonicdyne is making a new headphone! It is named harmonicdyne Poseidon and it's a nickel diaphragm driver, waiting for your review and unboxing video
Already in my possession, waiting on an upgraded wire before review
This should pair well with the smsl M500 DAC: balanced output + headphone amp.
oi zeos SMSL SD-793II is on drop for 40$. Is that worth it?
well price/ perf wise maybe not, but excellent result for various usage and situation, mainly movie and gaming, and being lazy
Hey Zeos, did you get SMSL VMV A2 also ?
Love you channel - just subscribed. Can anyone out there please help me ? - I am confused. Is the SMSL SA400 a power amplifier (that works best connected to a pre-amplifier) or is the SMSL SA400 an 'integrated' amplifier that can be connected directly to a source like a DAC ? It is advertised as a 'power' amplifier but seems more like an integrated ? Thank you, Peter.
It's not hot unless you can fry an egg on it 😂
"oh no"...
i replaid that like 20 times
smsl makes high end stuff - news to me
I need more kidneys to sell.
Lotsa people walking the streets at night. Just saying.
@@hartyewh1 nice
It doesn't seem expensive for a 460 watt amp with all those other features? Seems like a bit of a steal.
Amps should NOT be rated in peak watts x2 = total power. Should be rated in RMS watts for each channel @ x% distortion total. Any other wattage rating is nothing but marketing hype.
Your house needs a set of Legacyaudio wispers XDS 😃 check it out let us know what you think of them, yes they're big but that's not the point.
I would like to really hear some of those, put I don't think they have a dealer around Vancouver, Canada
Tabebuia is… a trumpet tree?
WTF?!
Throw this thing on some Maggie lrs which drop the load down to 2 ohms. It will kick on that fan and potentially trigger thermal protection. Always a way to test these cheapy amps.
I hate when they do that 4ohm crap. Just call what it is ...125wpc amp
$660 for something with SMSL written on it, I'm tapping out on this one.
Hello fellow science team member 👋
This one goes to twelve...
$660 no thanks. When I become a multi millionaire maybe.
use tripod!!!!!
Measurements by ASR weren't impressive
Its on Amir's recommended list so it it cant be that bad. It puts out loads of power and that matters. Sinad isnt bad either. Nothing really wrong with it.
Too bad it's made in China.
So? I don't get people who say that like it matters. Almost everything we buy here in the US is made in China - so what? They can and do make some of the best items in the world as well - it's all down to what you want them to make. Just because a lot of 'manufacturers' here decided to cut costs and get the cheapest crap they could to increase profits doesn't mean made in China is crap - they will hold whatever quality and QA standards you want to pay for. That the thing though - quality and especially QA cost money... and consumers here got used to cheap.
That's not their fault. Look at a lot of the recent surge in quality electronics for proof - most are not 'cheap', but with some due diligence you get what you pay for.
