So far, I’ve purchased three SU1 DACS. I’ve given two a way to friends and I’m using the other one with a DA1 in my bathroom set up. Awesome little DAC amp combination!
IDK about new, but I found some massive old passive 4-way kenwood LJL1104's out front of a neighbor's house on garbage day. Took them home, cleaned them up, they sound great with my old yamaha receiver (an old pyle audio one was NOT pushing enough watts) Driving a 15 inch woofer passively is... challenging.
I love the old kenwoods, they really do fill up the sound in my open floorplan kitchen/living room with 12 foot ceilings. But I do really want to replace them. I just have no idea what budget options are out there for my space. I got the swan OS10's the other day for my bedroom TV (amazing BTW) but tried them briefly on my living room setup and near-field does NOT sound good in that room, lol. would like to see some reviews for passive/active budget options there.

Aiyima a07 max with LM4562 opamps. $70: hifi hack of the century... On Tannoy dual concentrics the soundstage goes 10 feet high and continues into the other room.
I also run a SMSL AO300 into a pair of Emotiva t0+, powers them easily and pretty clean. It is indeed perfect in my livingroom. The headphone amp has a noticeable amount of distortion, however.
Perhaps a basement interior made completely of dryer lint...so soft and inviting.

I just cranked my AO300 to 50 which is insanely loud btw and didn’t mute at all. For desktop I rarely get over 25 on the volume with Kef q150’s. Sounds great.

Mine is also OK running to Monitor Audio Silver, it goes louder than I can bear without cutting out.

@@kiskez8640 punchy. It’s not the most extension I’ve heard on that speaker but does sound good. I do use mine with a sub. The AO300 does have eq and tone controls.
I'm trying to figure out what's going on with the headphone setup?? I heard that Fosi is coming out with something similar soon. Was wondering if you got 2 of these if you could then have each run individually into left and right? Then you could use each volume as a balance control? I have hearing imbalance and that would be awesome. I own the Xduo MT604 for that reason. Maybe the only reason to do that would be for extremely hard to drive headphones? I must have missed the video where you talked about using an amp like this to drive headphones. I love the sound of my Fosi V3. Killer sound and am using it to drive towers in my living room! Getting 2 of these little guys for possible headphone use has me asking questions damn it! :)
I run twin monoblock Aiyima A07Max with Burr brown opa 2604 opamps and 48 volt power supplies. 380 watts in 8 ohms stereo. Combined with the Fosi q4 dac and a Fosi tube pre amp. Sounds crazy good for the money. $250 in total. It knocks my $2100 Arcam FJM32 straight out of the park.

Hey Zeos..... have you seen the Loxjie A40? looks like a AO300 clone. Also keen to see if there will be a topping MX5s revision like they did with the MX3. Do you still recommend the MX5 over the AO300 for use with the RB42?

Silly question, the power supply for the SMSL amplifiers are outboard correct? Maybe find a higher amp/voltage?
I am assuming the SMSL DA-9 is just a very older model, that needs a dac? It works great for me on some small Thiels.
The Klipsch R-14M are another RB42-sized option to use if you can't power RB42s. Not as much bass but sound pretty big clear.
I've got the R-41m and RB42s with a Fosi BT20a Pro and now I have the 48v power supply I haven't tried the Klipsch it works so good with the RB42s (full setup on this system includes Wiim mini, FX Audio DAC, and Klipsch R-100sw sub).
I was laughing so hard when I saw that DA-1 loaded with these cables hahhah looks soo cuuteee
recently found out that the Signature X got a revision that includes new pads, and they're down to 200, and in my never ending quest of procrastination finding a nice closed back pair of headphones, should I add them on the list of consideration

Smsl should come out with a big class d amp: all ANALOG, 48v briq, sub out @50hz, two RCA and maximum sound. They already have all the DAC in the world for digity. And that universal remote 😅
how the sound compared between AIYIMA 07 Max and Fosi BT20A Pro?
SMSL AO300 looks like it would be a nice upgrade from my Ayima D05 desktop amp... But I think the screen is a downgrade. I might just keep my eye on this and wait for a AO300 mk2 before pulling the trigger. Oh wow! That cutoff at loud volumes is a dealbreaker for me. Hard pass until they fix that.

Looks like the LOXJIE A40 could be a clone of the AO300 wonder if it has the same issues. Looks like different DAC chip too.

I have the AO300 and haven't had any issues...although I do live in a building with thin walls so I have never pushed it very hard anyway....don't want to get that knock on my door.

I think that the 300 is having a problem. Maybe the power supply or the speaker protection circuit is malfunctioning. You should return it and get a new one.

v3 better than ayayayaima. and less $$. have trouble going for the AO300 with a bunch of crap I dont need, already have dac preamp etc, and can swap op-amps in the v3.
also if you're going to get the ao300 why not go class a/b with a basx a2m

Correction on Aiyima 07 MAX, it’s a 36 volt 6 Amp PSU not 32 v like Fossi V3, it’s AUX 3.5 jack is literally a Y splitter for RCA inputs, it’s not volume regulated and doesn’t turn off when amp is off, can not use for subwoofer out or you’ll change the volume separately on the sub and the amp. It sounds better than AO200MKII but doesn’t get as loud on stock PSU, but loud enough. Can change out opamps in Aiyima, but stock ones sound pretty good. Getting sparkos in it tomorrow 🙌 30%OFF on their site right now!!

Why can't I find that amp anywhere? Also it appears to be a Dac/amp and not just an amp. Also a different size class. I have the T.Amp from thomann which is great but again HUGE
@@ZReviewsweird, maybe the company has bitten the dust, I ordered from their webpage couple years ago :/ DAC is kinda meh, but phonopre, preouts etc are great. sound is very neutral, right now using it for my Klipsch RP600ms. Which are actually next to my PC desk. Weirdly good at this close range.
for 4x the price yeah.. but for this price "chinese crap" sounds pretty good compared to the bullshit that comes at higher prices.
