HMMWV Start Box Power Distribution Manual Glow Control "PDMGC”
This is a game changer
If you are new to the HMMWV life you will soon learn that the SMART BOX is not that smart and a common failure point.
I have replaced 3 of these in the past.
I have had a few of these trucks and this is my daily driver, I have put 40k miles on it and have driven it all over the east coast.
The goal with this truck is to replace all points of weakness, so here we go.

What was the cost?
Bro what sign did you have that your Smart Box was bad ?? I currently having issue with the wait light just flashing. Some have recommended me to swap it out I just want to be sure before I spend $1k
Both times the box died it was just dead, nothing happening at all as if there were no batteries in the truck
On mine, the glow plug heater wouldn't turn on when cold and the charging system wouldn't turn on. It would crank just fine and eventually would start but still no charging.
@farmsgrace341 Exactly the issue I am dealing with. My light blinks on then off immediately and won't cold start well if at all. the couple times I did get it started it'll run great after it's hot and will fire up right away so long as it's still warm.
What is the benefit of the upgrade ?
Smart boxes notoriously go bad or dry the glow plugs
This makes the glow plug control manual
Also allows you to lock the box so vehicle can’t be hot wired or stolen
