This was one of my grandma's favorite songs. It's almost been a year since she passed and I still tear up whenever I hear any artist sing this song. Leann has definitely gifted us with her voice covering this song.
Whats the matter with these arseholes who voted thumbs down on this singer and song (This child is only 14 years old for F** sakes) but she sang it so perfectly and from the heart, and made a bloody good job of a difficult and pitched song,,,,,,you few must have cloth ears and no sense of music brilliance, you all must lead sad and dismal lives......well done sweetie, you sang beautifully and carried a hard to sing song to it's wonderful limits....we are all proud of you xxx
I fully agree with you about Rimes. In fact I prefer her version over The Righteous Brother's more popular version. She sings like Linda Ronstadt (e.g. "Long, Long Time"). Or Amanda Marshall (e.g. "If I Didn't Have You"). Or Alannah Myles (e.g. "Break The Silence"). Or Berlin (e.g. "Take My Breath Away"). But I'm viewing this video in Aug 2024 and I notice that there is no "Thumbs Down" on it. I have a Firefox Add on that allows me to view "Thumbs Down" on any Video. But perhaps RUclips removed the Thumbs Down numbers 2 years ago? My only complaint is that this song does not appear of any of Rime's main Records but only on her 1997 Compilation record.
I remember the first time I heard her sing. I was eleven at the time and couldn't believe that a voice like that was coming out of someone who was only three years older than I 'am.

The fact that she is 14 years old and is performing one of the most difficult song to sing properly live without any apparent effort and so amazingly well is mindboggling. The best version of this song I have ever heard bar the original, and even then, she's only a half-step behind the Righteous Brothers.

Many have tried to repeat and replicate LeAnn's performance but no one has been able to top her performance of this song since she has performed it all these years ago. I always judge each artist that tries to by this very performance but they always end up disappointing me in the end. I just don't understand how with her amazing voice she isn't still one of the top country artists of today when she has more talent then many of those out their today on the top charts.
Technically perfect -- but the true magic of this performance is that she so clearly enjoyed what she was doing and in putting her whole heart and soul into singing -- while still smiling at and 'flirting' with the little kids in the audience. Great backup musicians as well.
She really is a flawless singer not a bad note I heard from her ever like the legends I often listen to. I think she delivered 3:15- 3:30 with a single breath.

Of course, imho…THEE BEST COVER of “Unchained Melody” is by the great voice of Bobby Hatfield of the RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS. But, there’s been a few that has done the song justice. And, I think Leann does an amazing Live version. Even better than her studio version.

I lived in Rowlett, Texas (suburb of G-Town) back before she made her big break. She was a spunky kid making the rounds at the local Opry houses. I was at a welding shop there when I saw a picture of her, autographed, hanging on the wall of the shop. I asked the old gentleman who owned the shop about that picture on the wall. I had never heard of her so he told me a little bit about her. He said to keep an eye on her because she was going to make it big. That guy should have been a music agent.

When I'm having a less than good day, listening to her puts me in another dimension, a parallel universe. And that face staring at you from the front of the album cover is supreme. When she sings a song accapella, it is mind-blowing, reminding me of what Joan Baez could do with Amazing Grace, another gal with perfect pitch, and a pleasure to see perform. I got ticked when CDs and DVDs came out, b/c when you bought one of the old vinyl 33 1/3 records, you had a pic worth framing b/c the cover was almost a foot in diameter. Yuk, buy a CD or DVD today and you almost need a magnifying glass to view the pictures. Not fair. They took away half of the pleasure. And not much after that, music was called an MP3, and had a bunch of letters and numbers in your PC directory.

Watched her too sing Amazing Grace a capella at the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas. I still get chills thinking about that experience.
