This brought tears to my eyes! Beautiful rendition!
I met him in San Francisco’s Guitar Center, September of 1987. I was fiddling on a bass, playing some riffs and I happen to look up and there he was. Smiling, giving a fist pump! Damn near dropped an unpaid for bass!
Spent the next hour watching him play bass, piano and engaging in conversation the whole time.
A homie and I, along with Jaco and another brotha all walked out together, gave each other handshakes, hugs and went our separate way.
Three weeks later as I was driving home from Reno where I had just got married heard the news come over the radio that had died.
I had to pull over. My wife at first thought I was crying because we had gotten married.
Those tears came eight years later!

This is just incredible Pia.. I remember when my mom and uncle showed me how to get a harmonic by bisecting the string (and the proper way to mute and strike it at the same time.. Something I do playing bass with out really even having to so consciously "think" about it now.. I still can't play this one but had a friend years ago that played it perfectly.. (closed your eyes and you'd have thought it was Jaco.. 😔)..

I play some acoustic guitar and bass, mainly because I always enjoyed the resonance of an instrument against my body. But I can’t imagine what that feels like to have all the sound resting against you from a harp. Especially when it’s something like that!
